Kelly woke up a bit late, and Clifford was no longer in bed. She imdiately got up to get ready, noticing it was already ten in the morning. She wondered where Clifford had gone, but one thing she was sure of it must have been an ergency for him to leave her alone like that.

Curiosity got the better of her, so she quickly headed to Dr. Ivan’s laboratory. Sohow, she had a feeling it might have sothing to do with her condition, though she was feeling great.

"Have you seen Clifford?" she asked a nurse she passed by, soone she recognized.

"Oh yes, he’s in Dr. Ivan’s office. I think they’re discussing sothing important since he rushed there," the nurse inford her. Kelly nodded, but for so reason, she felt a twinge of nervousness, wondering what it could be.

"By the way, congratulations, Mrs. White."

Kelly smiled warmly and replied, "Thank you."

It felt so good to be called Clifford’s wife and to be addressed by his surna. She headed straight to Dr. Ivan’s office, a place she was very familiar with since she often went there with questions. Lately, she’d gotten so comfortable that she would enter his office without hesitation, just like she planned to do now.

The door was slightly ajar, and she was about to push it open when Clifford’s angry voice made her flinch.

"No!" Clifford growled. "I will not tell her about it! I already told you that I will not let Kelly go through it. Don’t you understand that? So stop trying to persuade !"

"But Clifford, this is very important! This is a cure we’re talking about, and we cannot delay it while waiting for another test subject. Kelly deserves to know about this too, and she should be able to decide on her own," Ivan argued.

"No!" Clifford’s voice grew louder. "She’s my wife, and I will decide for her. Back off, Ivan! I don’t care about your discovery. That so-called cure is still a trial and could harm my wife! I won’t risk it! I will not risk her health any further for this experint. I’ll pull her out and pay the breach of contract if I have to!"

Kelly’s body froze as she listened to their heated argunt, especially to what Ivan had said. When the room fell silent, she imdiately turned around and walked back to Clifford’s bedroom.

"There’s a possible cure," she muttered weakly, sitting on the edge of the bed. But Clifford wanted to keep it from her.

Kelly bit her lower lip. She understood Clifford’s sentints, but deep down, she wanted to try that cure, not just for the chance to live a few more years with Clifford, but for the hope that it might help others suffering from the sa disease.

If this cure succeeded with her as the test subject, she could save countless lives.

Kelly felt torn. She took a deep breath, closed her eyes, and began to pray, asking God for guidance in making this difficult decision.

anwhile, instead of going straight back to his bedroom where Kelly was still sleeping, Clifford went to the balcony in the hallway to get so air. He felt like he’d lost control while arguing with Ivan.

That man had sent him a text ssage, claiming it was urgent. So Clifford rushed to his office, only for Ivan to explain the progress of his research on the cure and how confident he was that it could work. Yet, when Clifford asked about the setbacks and whether he could guarantee Kelly wouldn’t lose her life in the process, Ivan hesitated.

How could he let his wife go through such uncertainty?

Clifford clutched his chest as a wave of pain overwheld him. It hurt so much... the thought of losing Kelly tore him apart more than he could ever imagine.

"Oh God," he murmured, his trembling lips barely forming the words as he weakly sat on the nearest chair. He covered his face with his hands, unable to stop the tears spilling from his eyes without him even realizing it.

He was terrified that Kelly would find out about the possible cure. He knew her well, knew how she wasn’t afraid of dying. But he was scared... utterly and hopelessly scared.

Clifford didn’t know how long he had stayed there. Kelly should be awake by now, and he was sure she was starving, so he quickly composed himself, wiping his tears. He went to the kitchen, grabbed a tray of als prepared for Kelly’s diet, and made a simple sandwich for himself.

As he walked back with the tray, he paused at the door, taking a deep breath to steady himself before putting on a smile and opening it.

As expected, Kelly was already awake, sitting on the bed and reading her Bible. She closed it the mont he entered, her smile like a ray of sunshine, illuminating even the darkest corners of his heart.

"Good morning," she greeted sweetly.

"Good morning. Co, let’s eat, you must be starving," he replied as he arranged the late breakfast on the table. Kelly quickly sat in the chair he pulled out for her, and he took the seat beside her.

"Let’s pray first," she said, holding his hand.

He nodded and closed his eyes as Kelly led the prayer. She always insisted on praying before als. At first, it had felt awkward, but over ti, he had grown accustod to it. More than that, he admired her unwavering faith and devotion, it was one of the many things he loved about her.

After the prayer, they began eating, with Clifford occasionally feeding her small bites to pamper her.

A while later, Kelly let out a satisfied sigh and humd, "And now, I’m so stuffed!" She looked at him with a playful smile and said, "How about we go for a walk? The weather’s nice. It’s still not snowing, and I want to feel the cold breeze."

He nodded, grabbing coats for both of them. Hand in hand, they stepped outside, following the path to the spacious garden. The crisp air was refreshing, and Kelly’s joy was contagious.

"Can we try the maze?" she asked excitedly, gesturing toward the hedges. "I want to see if we can get through without getting lost!"

He nodded again, suppressing a small grin. He had designed the maze himself, so he knew every twist and turn by heart. But he decided not to tell her and let her lead the way. Kelly eagerly tugged his hand, pulling him along as she chose their path, her laughter echoing through the maze.

Kelly stopped after their walk as she stared at the three paths before them. There was one to the left, one to the right, and one straight ahead.

"Hmmm, so which way should we go, Mrs. White?" Clifford teased, a playful smile tugging at his lips.

Kelly, who had been confidently choosing their routes earlier, hesitated this ti. To be honest, she had done quite well so far.

"I always follow my hunch and intuition..." Kelly murmured, deep in thought as her eyes darted between the three options.

Kelly paused, her gaze shifting between the three paths. Her confidence faltered for a mont, and she let out a small sigh.

"You always trust your instincts, don’t you?" Clifford said softly, watching her closely.

She nodded, but then her expression grew thoughtful. "Yes, but more than that... when I feel lost, I always turn to my faith. It’s my guide. I trust in God’s promises, Clifford, and I believe that when I seek His will and do what’s right, He’ll show the way."

Clifford’s brows furrowed slightly. "Even when the path is uncertain? Even when it’s... dangerous?"

Kelly looked at him, her gaze steady and full of conviction. "Especially then. Life isn’t about having all the answers or knowing exactly where every step will lead. It’s about trusting that even when the road looks difficult, God has a plan. I just have to follow where He’s leading , no matter how hard it is."

Her words hit Clifford deeply, and he swallowed hard. "Kelly... are you talking about the maze? Or sothing else?"

She hesitated for a mont, then took a deep breath. "I overheard you earlier, Clifford. About the cure."

Clifford stiffened, guilt flashing across his face. He opened his mouth to respond, but she held up her hand.

"You don’t need to explain," she said gently. "I know why you didn’t tell . You’re trying to protect . But Clifford..." She turned her gaze to the maze, her voice calm yet resolute.

"I’ve been praying about this, and I know what I have to do. If there’s even a chance this cure could help others like ... if it’s part of God’s plan for ... then I want to take that chance."

Clifford’s heart sank. He stepped closer to her, his voice strained. "Kelly, I can’t bear the thought of losing you. What if sothing goes wrong? What if-"

She reached for his hand, gripping it tightly. "And what if this is the path I’m ant to take? What if this is how I can make a difference, Clifford? I trust God to lead , even if it’s scary. Even if I don’t know the outco. He’s never failed before, and I believe He won’t fail now."
