The crowd parted like the sea as Alexander and Rain stepped onto the dance floor, seamlessly blending with the other couples. The soft, intimate lody filled the air, and Alexander pulled her close, his hand resting firmly on her waist, guiding her with practiced ease.

Rain’s heartbeat quickened as she whispered, "Why are you here?"

Alexander’s lips curved into a subtle smirk, his deep voice carrying a warmth that sent a shiver through her. "I ca to rescue my wife from insufferable gossip," he replied, his tone low and intimate. "And if being present here and dancing with you silences them, I’ll do it a hundred tis over."

As they moved together, the tension in Rain’s shoulders lted away. She tilted her head up, eting his gaze. His expression was calm, protective, and tinged with sothing deeper, a tenderness that made her heart ache.

Around them, the whispers shifted. The earlier spiteful murmurs were replaced by softer tones of admiration, accompanied by the occasional flash of a cara. Reporters who had been invited as guests eagerly snapped photos, immortalizing the couple’s undeniable chemistry.

"They look perfect together."

"Maybe the rumors about the contract aren’t true."

"She’s definitely not a rebound..."

"Look at how they gaze at each other. That’s love if I’ve ever seen it."

Rain couldn’t ignore the chatter, but Alexander seed unfazed. He leaned closer, his voice ant only for her. "Let them talk," he said, his tone steady and reassuring. "They can speculate all they want. What matters is what’s real between us."

Rain pouted slightly, squinting up at him. "And what’s real between us, Alexander? You don’t even rember our ti together." Her voice wavered, betraying the storm of emotions she tried to conceal. Despite his actions, which scread care and affection, his mory loss still cast a shadow over her confidence.

Alexander’s movents didn’t falter. Instead, his gaze locked onto hers with an intensity that sent her pulse racing. "Rain," he began, his tone firm yet gentle, "I may not rember our past, but I know one thing for certain."

Rain held her breath, her nerves tangled with anticipation as his words sank in.

"I don’t want to let you go. I want you to stay married to ," he said, his voice resolute. "No divorce. Not now, not ever."

The sincerity in his words and the depth in his eyes stole the breath from her lungs. For a mont, the world around them ceased to exist. The music faded, the whispers blurred, and all she could hear was the steady rhythm of her heart answering his.

Rain couldn’t help but smile, a warmth spreading through her chest. "You’re good at this, you know... turning things around."

He smirked. "It’s a skill, but you make it easy."

When the song ended, Alexander lovingly kissed her forehead, making Rain’s face blush. Then he led Rain off the dance floor with her hand still firmly in his. The caras followed their every move, capturing the image of a couple so undeniably in sync that even the most persistent rumors would find it hard to take root.

As the next song began to play, Henry approached Rain and Alexander with a casual smile. His gaze shifted to Alexander as he said, "Would you mind if I ask a colleague for a dance?"

Rain, sensing the tension that imdiately followed, quickly stepped in with an awkward smile. "Oh, you probably don’t rember, but Henry is also a prosecutor. We’re on the sa team."

Henry extended a hand toward Alexander, his tone friendly. "I heard from Matt that you lost so recent mories. It’s nice to et you."

Rain’s breath hitched as Alexander didn’t move to shake Henry’s hand, his sharp gaze locked on Henry instead. An awkward silence lingered until Henry, unbothered, pulled his hand back with a small chuckle. "Still the sa, I see. Anyway, as I was saying-"

"I mind it, Henry," Alexander interjected firmly, his tone leaving no room for argunt. "I don’t like any man dancing with my wife. So perhaps you can find another colleague, soone single, to share a dance with."

Henry’s smile tightened, his eyes flicking briefly to Rain before stepping back. "Of course," he replied smoothly. "I’ll let you two enjoy the rest of your evening."

Alexander turned his attention back to Rain, his grip on her hand tightening slightly as their fingers intertwined. "Do you still want to stay and finish the party? Or should we go ho now?" he asked, his voice softening but still tinged with protectiveness.

Rain hesitated for a mont before shaking her head. "It’s fine. We can go ho now." She offered Henry a polite smile. "Goodnight, Henry. I’ll see you on Monday."

Henry gave a short nod, and with that, Alexander wasted no ti. He led Rain out of the hall, his stride confident and unyielding as the crowd’s curious eyes followed their departure. Rain couldn’t help but feel her cheeks flush as Alexander’s hand remained firmly wrapped around hers, his silent claim over her unmistakable.

"I must admit," Alexander began, his tone calm yet tinged with a hint of frustration, "I’m feeling a bit annoyed after learning you had an annual dinner party where spouses were invited, and you didn’t bring ."

Rain glanced at him, startled by his sudden confession. "Oh, that..." She hesitated, carefully choosing her words. "It’s because I didn’t want to stress you out. Carla’s interview earlier caused quite a stir, and gossip is inevitable, even at work. I didn’t want you to feel pressured by it all."

Alexander didn’t respond right away. Instead, he stepped forward, opening the car door for her like a true gentleman. Once they were both inside the car, he imdiately pressed the button to close the partition, granting them privacy.

Before Rain could say a word, Alexander scooped her up effortlessly, placing her on his lap. She squealed softly, startled by the sudden gesture.

"But we clearly need to address this," he said, his voice low and firm. "You should bring your husband to events like that. By going alone, you fuel gossip and give people even more to speculate about. It’s better to face them
