At the mansion, Alexander felt a sense of accomplishnt as he reflected on his recovery. He had worked hard to regain his strength, and now he could even run as he had before the accident.

"Congratulations," Dr. Lambert said with a warm smile after completing his final assessnt. "You’re perfectly fit."

Alexander’s face lit up at the news. "So, can I go back to work now?" he asked eagerly. Guilt tugged at him, knowing how much William had been struggling to manage the company alone during his absence.

"You can," Dr. Lambert replied with a cautious tone, "but don’t push yourself too hard, especially ntally. Recovery isn’t just physical."

Alexander nodded. Though work had always been his escape and passion, he understood the importance of pacing himself. He resolved to assist William gradually, ensuring his own health and mory adjustnt weren’t compromised.

After wrapping up their conversation, Alexander walked Dr. Lambert out of the house.

As the doctor’s car drove away, Alexander noticed the evening had crept in. The sky had deepened into hues of orange and purple, and he glanced at his wristwatch, it was already past six.

His thoughts imdiately turned to Rain. "Why isn’t she back yet?" he muttered to himself. "Her office closes at five, and it’s only a thirty-minute drive."

Reaching into his pocket, he pulled out his phone and checked for any ssages from her. The empty inbox made him frown.

Rain had been a constant presence in his life over the past few days, always by his side during therapy and rehabilitation. He’d grown used to her support and the warmth she brought into his recovery routine.

Her decision to return to work today had surprised him. She’d looked stunning, dressed in her professional attire, confident and radiant as she left the house. Despite the gaps in his mory, Alexander couldn’t deny the growing attraction he felt toward her.

There was sothing magnetic about Rain, her unwavering affection, her bold gestures that always caught him off guard.

Without realizing it, a smile tugged at his lips. He found himself musing aloud, "I wonder if she’s always been this bold... or if it’s just for ."

Alexander turned and made his way back into the mansion. The quietness inside felt heavy, with most of the family still away. Only Sanya was in the kitchen, bustling around with dinner preparations.

He wandered into the living room, sank into the sofa, and stared at his phone. His thumb hovered over Rain’s contact. "Should I call her?" he mumbled under his breath, the silence amplifying his internal debate.

"Oh, you’re here," Sanya said, her voice breaking his thoughts as she entered the room. He hadn’t even noticed her approach.

"The dinner’s ready, and William is close," she inford him. "Father Rock and Aunt Vernice are on their way too. They’ll be here any mont. Uncle Ben and Aunt lanie are staying overnight in Malibu, so they won’t return until tomorrow."

Alexander gave her a nod, acknowledging the update. Just as Sanya was about to head back to the kitchen, he called out, "What about Rain?"

Sanya paused, turning back to him. "Oh, she ssaged earlier. She said she’d be late. Apparently, there’s a company dinner and karaoke night."

Alexander frowned at the news, his mind imdiately jumping to conclusions. ’Is she drinking?’ he wondered.

His hand tightened around his phone as he recalled the files he had on Rain’s colleagues in the prosecution office. He didn’t entirely understand why he had those files in the first place, perhaps a precaution.

Given the incidents they’d endured, it wasn’t unreasonable. William and Dion had provided him with detailed accounts of the danger Rain had been in, and Rain herself had answered all his questions honestly, piecing together the events he couldn’t rember.

At this point, he knew even the smallest details about Rain’s life and their past together, yet the gaps in his mory still left him unsettled. He couldn’t help but feel a surge of protectiveness at the thought of her out at a late dinner.

As dinner progressed, Alexander found himself zoning out, his gaze repeatedly drifting to the empty seat beside him. Rain’s absence at the table was glaring, she would usually be the one fussing over his plate, piling on extra at and vegetables while encouraging him to eat more.

His father’s voice snapped him out of his thoughts. "Son, Dr. Lambert called earlier with so good news."

Alexander nodded. "Yes, he cleared . I’m planning to go back to work soon."

"Really?" William’s face lit up, his enthusiasm almost childlike.

Alexander raised an eyebrow, smirking slightly. "You seem awfully happy about that, William. Just so you know, I said I’m coming back, but that doesn’t an you’re off the hook. I’ve lost five years of mories, you’ll need to guide through everything."

William’s excitent waned, and he let out an exaggerated pout. "But Dion is already doing that for you! Honestly, he’s way better at it than I am."

"But you’re the one who said you’d step up and take on the business just to get to wake up," Alexander reminded his tone carrying a hint of teasing. While he’d been in a coma, he’d vaguely heard voices, including William’s, making heartfelt pleas.

William froze mid-chew, eyes wide. "Wait, you heard that?"

Alexander smirked, stabbing a piece of at with his fork. "Of course. Even in a coma, I could hear voices. At the ti, I thought it was a dream, but I guess it wasn’t."

A sly smile spread across Alexander’s face as he locked eyes with his younger brother. "So, rember to keep your word."

William groaned, slumping back in his chair. "Fine!" he muttered, clearly defeated. He ran a hand through his hair in frustration, leaning back as if to signal his surrender to the discussion at hand.

After a brief silence, William shifted in his seat and suddenly changed the topic. "I wonder what ti sister-in-law will co back," he mused, a hint of curiosity in his voice.

Sanya, ever the chatterbox, jumped in. "Oh, I’m sure Rain is enjoying herself right now. It’s her first day back at work, so she’s probably drinking and having fun!"

Alexander’s jaw tightened slightly, though he kept his expression neutral. He didn’t like the idea of her drinking, especially without letting him know. But instead of voicing his concerns, he simply nodded, reaching for his glass of water to hide the flicker of unease that crossed his face.
