Gathering herself, Rain forced a warm smile and took a step closer. Slowly, she sat on the edge of his bed, keeping her movents relaxed.
"Our marriage happened so suddenly," she said softly, tilting her head playfully and pouting slightly, "and you promised we’d have a proper wedding ceremony later."
Alexander raised an eyebrow, clearly skeptical but curious.
She leaned forward just a bit, maintaining eye contact. "Once you feel up to it, you can check your phone. You’ll see plenty of our pictures there and even find our chat and text conversations," she added, her tone casual but filled with an undercurrent of hope.
His frown lingered, but there was a flicker of consideration in his eyes. "Is that so?"
Rain nodded firmly. "Yes. No need to stress over it right now. Take your ti, everything might co back to you eventually," she said, her voice steady and reassuring despite the turmoil in her heart.
Alexander regarded her for a long mont before responding. "I’ll see about that. Dr. Lambert ntioned there’s a chance so of my mories might not return," he admitted, his tone uncertain, yet laced with resignation.
Rain hesitated for a mont longer, her chest tightening at the growing emotional distance between them. Then, with a trembling smile, she reached out and gently cupped his cheek. "I miss you so much," she murmured, her voice cracking under the weight of her emotions.
Without warning, she wrapped her arms around him, pulling him into a tight hug. "Thank you for waking up," she whispered against his chest, her sobs muffled. She felt his body stiffen montarily, but relief flooded her when his hand cautiously stroked her back.
"It’s alright," Alexander said, his voice low but comforting.
Rain pulled back slightly, her teary gaze eting his. She opened her mouth to say more, but before she could, Alexander leaned in and pressed his lips against hers.
The kiss caught her completely off guard, her eyes widening in surprise. However, as it deepened, she lted into it, her arms instinctively snaking around his neck.
It wasn’t just a kiss, it was familiar, as if his body rembered what his mind had forgotten. Hope flickered within her heart, only for the mont to be interrupted when the door swung open.
Alexander imdiately broke the kiss, muttering a quiet curse under his breath.
"Oh, my bad!" William exclaid awkwardly, quickly taking in the scene with wide eyes.
Rain shot to her feet, her face flushed. "I’ll... I’ll just have my breakfast. If you need anything, call or ask one of the staff to find ," she stamred before practically fleeing the room.

Once she was gone, William grinned mischievously as he approached Alexander. "Well, it looks like your body rembers your wife, even if your brain doesn’t! That’s progress!" he teased.
Alexander scowled, running a hand through his hair. "I don’t know what ca over ," he muttered. "When she leaned in like that... I just..." He trailed off, his expression a mix of confusion and frustration.
William chuckled. "I’m telling you, brother, you’re in love with her. You fell hard for sister-in-law Rain... head over heels. Just give it ti."
Alexander frowned, his brow furrowing deeper. "But what about Carla? The last thing I rember is being in a relationship with her. What happened to her? Why am I suddenly married to soone else?"
William’s smile faded, and he sighed. "That’s sothing you’ll have to talk to sister-in-law about. But as for Carla... she’s out of the picture. She left you five years ago to chase her dreams of becoming a celebrity, and, well, she succeeded. She’s a star now, but trust , she’s not worth holding onto. She lied to you."
Alexander’s frown deepened. "Lied? What are you talking about?"
William hesitated, then said, "She wasn’t the one who saved you from the fire at the Haven Orphanage."
Alexander’s gaze sharpened at the ntion of the fire, his jaw tightening. "I already knew that," he said quietly. He rembered the faint mole behind the ear of the girl who had saved him, a detail Carla didn’t have.
"So why didn’t you confront her?" William asked, genuinely curious.
Alexander shrugged, leaning back against the headboard. "No one’s perfect, William. I wanted to give her the chance to tell herself. And... I felt like I owed her. She helped recover from the trauma of that fire. Even if she lied about being my savior, she was there for when I needed soone the most."
He paused, his gaze distant. "That’s why I stayed with her. I didn’t know what love was back then, but I cared about her. I thought... maybe that was enough."
William sighed and placed a hand on his brother’s shoulder. "I get it, but Carla is in the past now. You’ve got soone incredible in sister-in-law Rain. Don’t let her slip through your fingers."
Alexander didn’t respond, his thoughts swirling as he tried to make sense of his fractured mories and the overwhelming emotions that lingered in his heart.
"And I guess you don’t rember either, but we recently discovered the identity of the real woman who saved you from that fire!" William said, his voice brimming with excitent. "It’s Rain, your wife! You two are literally ant for each other. I’d even say you’re fated to be together!"
William’s revelation left Alexander speechless. "She was that girl?" he murmured, the realization hitting him like a wave.
"Oh, yes!" William confird enthusiastically. "Rain is the one who saved you during the fire. You two are ant for each other. I’d even say it’s fate!"
Alexander’s mind reeled. He had held onto that mory for so long, the image of a girl risking her life to pull him from the flas. And now to hear it was Rain...
William, noticing his brother’s stunned silence, continued, "I’ve also sent you so impressive files and records about your wife in case you want to know more about her. Honestly, if you’re still doubting, just check the mole behind her ear, it matches the one you rember from back then. And seriously, why did you even insist on staying in a separate room? Do you realize how coldhearted that is?"
Alexander frowned. "I’m still adjusting, William. It’s... overwhelming."
"Overwhelming?" William scoffed, crossing his arms. "Do you even know what’s overwhelming? Sister-in-law collapsing because she stayed up for days taking care of you. And how do you repay her? By demanding separate rooms. Geez."
Alexander opened his mouth to protest, but William held up a hand to stop him. "Listen, brother, you’re going to regret it if you don’t treat her right. Sister-in-law is incredible. She’s strong, beautiful, and loyal. Mark my words... if you don’t step up, there are plenty of n who would happily take your place."
The bluntness of William’s words hit Alexander hard. He clenched his jaw, conflicted by his confusion, guilt, and the stirrings of sothing deeper that he couldn’t yet na.
