The collapsed mansion in the suburbs.
Within the covered ruins, Adam used Magic to hold up a small space, protecting the won behind him at the critical mont.
◈ Wind Magic ⫸ El Fura ◈
He used Magic again to break through the rubble above their heads, finally seeing daylight.
He turned to the won behind him with concern, "Are you alright, Aqua, Darkness, gumin? Are you hurt?"
"That idiot Kazuma!"
"What a sha I didn't get to experience the pleasure of being crushed by the collapsing mansion."
"Ah, I'm fine, no worries."
Though their responses varied, they were clearly uninjured and still spirited. A relief.
"Oh right, Kazuma!" Rembering that Kazuma had been at the explosion's epicenter, Adam called to the won perched on the ruins to help search for him.
"Tch, let's just leave him be." Aqua was clearly holding a grudge about the destroyed mansion and seed to have no intention of reviving him.
"What are you saying, Aqua? Aren't we companions?"
"That's right. Even though Kazuma is perverted, twisted, and genuinely scum, he's still a mber of the Hero party, so we should save him."
Before Adam could respond, Darkness and gumin spoke up for Kazuma, though their words dripped with clear disapproval.
"Hmph." Aqua let out a light snort, remaining motionless.
Seeing her like this, the others stopped trying to persuade her. When she was in this mood, reasoning was pointless — better to let her cool down.
After searching for half a day, the three found Kazuma's... remains at the bottom of the ruins, charred and blown to pieces.
It made sense — those were two point-blank explosions. If he had survived that, Adam would have suspected he was actually the muscle-bound female crusader in disguise, since Kazuma was just an ordinary 「Adventurer」.
They gathered all his scattered remains and carefully pieced them together.
"Aqua, please."
"Hmph."
Though still upset with Kazuma, this was a request from her beloved Adam. Even unhappily, she would revive this scum for his sake.
◈ Divine Grace ⫸ Resurrection ◈
As she revealed her true goddess form, brilliant light shot up from the magic circle surrounding Kazuma.
After about a dozen breaths, the charred young man was restored to his original state, revived.
But sothing was wrong. Though his eyes were open, his gaze was vacant and his expression confused. He didn't respond to their calls.
Adam looked at him, puzzled, "Hey, Aqua, what's wrong with him?"
"Hmph, who knows." She turned away irritably, "I just revived him like usual. I don't know why that idiotzuma turned out like this."
"Uh..."
"Oh no, Kazuma's beco an idiot."
Darkness and gumin looked at the young man with strong sympathy in their eyes.
Had Kazuma Satō, who always called them idiots, finally beco one himself?
This was... so satisfying!
But they were clearly overthinking it. In less than a minute, he ca to his senses.
"Am I... revived?" Kazuma felt around his body, finding no injuries and his party uniform still half-wrapped around him. Based on what had happened earlier, it wasn't hard to guess that Aqua had revived him again.
"So what exactly happened, Kazuma?" While using healing Magic to treat him again, Adam asked with concern, "Are you okay? Does anything feel uncomfortable? Do you need more healing?"
Kazuma shook his head. Still wearing a dazed expression, he replied absently, "I'm fine, Adam-senpai. I just realized sothing."
"What's that?"
"Healing magic can't heal ntal wounds."
"Pfft!"
This inappropriate response made him laugh.
Even in this situation, Adam couldn't help but laugh out loud. Seeing that the young man was fine, he stopped the healing.
"Alright, what should we do next, everyone?" He asked the party mbers, "The mansion's collapse was an accident, and now we need a new place to stay. Any ideas?"
Aqua spoke up, "Ask that idiot Kazuma about that — he's the one who caused this."
Even after using resurrection magic, she was still targeting him.
But hearing her criticism, Kazuma gave no response, likely still in shock from earlier.
"Adam, you decide."
"Yeah, Adam."
Darkness and gumin both indicated they would follow their leader's arrangent.
"Well..." He fell into thought.
The mansion, built less than three months ago, had collapsed right at the start of winter.
This was troubleso. With winter beginning, the craftsn would stop working to peacefully pass the cold season. Even if they started as soon as possible, construction would have to wait until spring next year. Who knew when they'd be able to rebuild?
Their urgent priority was finding a new place to stay.
Should they stay at an inn again, or perhaps stay with soone else? Maybe at Wiz's Magic Item Shop?
'Wiz, our mansion has beco ruins, so please let us stay for a while. We'll pay rent and help organize the shop, please' — or sothing like that.
Adam would be happy to use this roundabout way to lighten that poor shop owner's burden, and more importantly, the party mbers could develop their relationship with her.
Killing two birds with one stone!
"..."
No, no, no! Never mind, forget it.
With Wiz's personality, she would definitely agree to let the party mbers stay without even thinking about it. Still, he decided not to ask her, fearing they wouldn't end up helping her and would just cause more trouble instead.
These problem children would definitely do sothing like that. Better not to bother her.
Should they stay at an inn then?
But inn expenses were high, and for the 『 Hero 』 Party currently buying rare ingredients, it would put considerable strain on their finances.
What to do?
Just as Adam was having trouble deciding, another mber of the party appeared.
It was Bill from logistics/blacksmith.
"What...what happened here?!" Bill gaped at where the mansion had stood, now nothing but ruins.
"Oh, it's Bill." Adam greeted him, "Well, there was a bit of an accident. As you can see, our house accidentally beca ruins."
"Oh...oh." Seeing their dejected expressions, the big man thought it better not to pry.
"By the way, what brings you here, Bill?"
"I ca to deliver your equipnt." Bill lifted the package in his hand, "The new equipnt you asked to forge is complete. When I was walking nearby, I saw an explosion shoot into the sky, so I rushed over."
"I see. Thanks for your concern, Bill."
"What are you saying? Aren't we companions? I'm a mber of the Hero Party too!" He laughed heartily while patting his chest, then asked with concern, "By the way, now that you've lost your ho, have you decided where to stay?"
"No, we're still thinking about it. Haven't made up our minds yet."
"In that case, how about staying at my place?"
"Eh, is that okay? Won't we be bothering you?"
"It's fine, it's fine. I happen to have several empty rooms in my backyard. Though it's not as nice as your mansion, Lord Commander, it can still accommodate a few people."
"Really? Thank you so much!"
And so, the party mbers found a new place to stay.
