◈ Explosion ◈
gumin's powerful 〘Explosion Magic〙descended from the sky, instantly vaporizing the giant Stone Golem and completing the party's exploration mission.
This was the third day since bringing Darkness back.
After returning from Lord Dustiness's mansion, the party had taken a day to rest. Though they hadn't planned any imdiate missions, Darkness — having been confined at ho for two months — couldn't bear the idleness any longer.
At her persistent request, they agreed to take on a mission.
"Hey hey, hasn't my Explosion Magic gotten even stronger?" gumin declared proudly, gazing at the crater she created, "I truly am a genius! My Explosion Magic is the strongest, the most invincible Magic! And I am the Crimson Demon clan's strongest Arch Wizard!"
Her boasting wasn't entirely unwarranted — she truly could be considered a genius.
Learning〘Explosion Magic〙at just twelve years old was a feat even famous Level 30 Arch-Wizards couldn't match.
"Now that you ntion it, gumin's Explosion Magic has indeed gotten more powerful."
"Yeah, after not seeing you for two months, your Magic has improved quite a bit."
"Well done, gumin. I'm impressed."
"Such a perfect strike... ha ha ha, if only it could explode on ... how wonderful!"
Aqua and Darkness offered their praise, each in their own distinct way.
Though her Magic had indeed grown stronger, without other magical support she remained a "one-nuke wizard".
Riding piggyback on Adam's back, gumin bead at her companions' praise.
"Hahaha, of course!" She exclaid, gesturing excitedly, "I am the Crimson Demon clan's strongest Arch Wizard after all. Explosion Magic is my life and my everything!"
Magic of absolute destruction was her eternal faith — may the path of〘Explosion Magic〙exist forever!
Her wild movents, however, were troubling Kazuma as he carried her.
The discomfort wasn't from her flat chest pressing against him, but from the fifteen Manatites concealed in her arms. The sharp crystals jabbed into his back through his coarse clothing.
When he instinctively shifted to adjust his position, gumin grew suspicious.
She wrapped her arms around Adam's neck, pressing against his back.
"Hey." She said nacingly, "Could it be that you're trying to feel sothing? Is that it?"
"As if!" He pried her slender arms from his neck, irritated, "With a cutting board like yours, what could there possibly be to feel?"
"What did you say—!" gumin shouted, insulted, "You want to fight? Are you picking a fight with ? Fine then, bring it on! I'm not afraid of you! I don't care if you're the party leader or so Kingdom Hero, I won't submit!"
While speaking, she tugged at his collar.
Her agitated state resembled an enraged kitten — impossible to calm down.
Yet Adam needed only one casual sentence to make the previously furious gumin back down completely.
"gumin, you'd better stay still. Otherwise, I'll drop you here and let you crawl back by yourself."
"Yes! I'm sorry, I was wrong!"
Even though she hadn't started the argunt, she was forced to take the bla and apologize.
Perhaps in gumin's eyes now, Adam was just an unreasonable party leader — weak, pitiful, and helpless.
How infuriating! When would this 「Arch-Wizard」 who "Only Knows Explosion Magic" finally stand up for herself!
Of course, this was just the party's daily banter to build rapport. Despite her outward dissatisfaction, deep down she was grateful to the party that had taken her in.
"Hey, gumin."
"Hm?"
"How about learning Teleport?"
"No way!"
Adam thought about having gumin learn〘Teleport〙to make it easier for her to travel and escape.
But this chuunibyou 「Arch-Wizard」, who only thought about〘Explosion Magic〙, imdiately rejected his suggestion without consideration.
"Explosion Magic is my one and only — I'll only learn Explosion Magic. It's impossible for to learn other Magic. If you force to learn other Magic, you might as well kill !"
The life motto of this chuunibyou Crimson Demon 「Arch-Wizard」 remained as bizarre as ever, leaving others speechless.
He desperately wanted to crack open her little head and see how it was structured inside. Why was she so stubborn!
"Wait a minute, gumin, didn't you say before that you would learn other Magic if necessary?"
"I never said that!" gumin flatly denied it.
Her attitude made Adam so annoyed he wanted to hold her down and spank her to make her rember what she had said.
"Are you trying to deny what you said? Do you think I'm lying?" Then, trying to remind her, he said, "Well, if you don't believe , go back to Chapter 42 — you expressed interest in learning other Magic!"
{T/N: She didn't say she would do it for sure, but was just thinking about learning other types to compensate for her shortcomings.}
"...That was then, this is now!" She argued, "Having reconfird my true feelings, I've decided that I absolutely won't learn any skills except those that strengthen Explosion Magic! No need to say more — my mind is made up!"
"..." Seeing her so determined, Adam didn't know how to persuade her anymore.
Hm? Wait!
Thinking carefully about what gumin had said, he noticed a loophole in her words.
Got her!
He smiled secretly, "You said it yourself — 'absolutely won't learn any skills except those that strengthen Explosion Magic!' right?"
"Yes, that's right!" gumin didn't realize she had walked right into his trap.
"Then there's no problem!"
"Huh?" Seeing his triumphant smile, gumin sensed sothing was off. She asked uncertainly, "I did say that, but what does Teleport have to do with Explosion Magic? It doesn't make Magic more powerful."
"Ahem, let ask you sothing." Adam cleared his throat, "gumin, why did you learn skills like Quick Cast, Mana Expansion, and Mana Control?"
gumin replied matter-of-factly, "Of course it's because these skills make Explosion Magic stronger."
"Exactly!"
"What do you an?"
"Look, those skills are for increasing spell power. But think about it from another angle — what if you can't cast the spell?"
"Can't cast..."
"See, Explosion Magic is incredibly powerful, right? And its area of effect is huge. But if you cast it at close range, that enormous power would blow you up along with the enemy! So to successfully cast Explosion Magic, you first need to create distance between yourself and the enemy."
"Create distance..."
"Exactly!"
Having taken such a roundabout path, Adam had finally led gumin into his trap.
He pressed his advantage and continued.
"Only by learning Teleport can you quickly create distance from enemies and successfully cast Explosion Magic to blow them sky high! In other words, only an Arch Wizard who knows Teleport can unleash the strongest Explosion Magic!" He asked dramatically, "What do you think, gumin? Will you learn Teleport to push Explosion Magic to its limits?"
"Yes, I'd love to!"
Success — she's so gullible!
Her intelligence really is on par with Aqua's.
