Chapter 133: Chapter 0130 Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon

At four o’clock, the eting comnced punctually in the teaching room of the Integrated Orthopedics Departnt.

The participants were all mbers of the Academic Conference Preparation Group, including Director Tian, Yang Ping, Song Zimo, Tang Fei, Zhang Lin, Little Five from the Integrated Orthopedics Departnt.

Additionally, it included group leaders and attending physicians from the Micro-trauma Orthopedics Departnt. Although others did not participate in the preparation group, most graduate students, standardized training students along with so nurses were given specific tasks, such as receptionists, venue attendants, and usherettes, etc.

As the the of the conference was Trauma Orthopedics, the departnts of Spine Surgery, Joint Surgery, and Sports dicine were temporarily not required to send participants for preparations. However, they expressed full support and declared that they could provide personnel anyti if needed.

This was a big event of the Orthopedics Departnt, in which each person actively participated. Everyone was going to benefit from it, and the team spirit of Orthopedics was fully demonstrated.

Once everyone had gathered, Tan Boyun took the podium and reported the work progress to Director Han. The preparations had been completed for the mont; the remaining tasks were improving the details.

The guests of this conference included Professors from the First and Second Affiliated Hospitals of Nandu dical University, Provincial People’s Hospital, City People’s Hospital, along with Professors from Beijing, Shanghai, and Western China. So professors also ca from abroad, such as from Japan and South Korea, predominantly representing several Asian countries.

There were over a thousand doctors attending the conference. This number was quite large, indicating the compelling nature of the issues discussed at the Academic Conference.

An international academic conference of this nature would have been difficult for Tan Boyun to operate solely, mainly due to the lack of a network foundation. However, with Director Han’s assistance in inviting people and establishing the conference frawork, he found the operation much easier.

Therefore, Tan Boyun was very grateful that Director Han entrusted him with this glorious task and himself took the backstage, reflecting his remarkable magnanimity.

Once Tan Boyun had finished his report, each preparation group then reported their work progress, and raised any issues that needed resolution, for everyone to collaboratively co up with solutions.

Tan Boyun was the leader of the preparation group, with Director Tian as the deputy leader. He, along with Song Zimo were tasked with reviewing the conference papers. Zhang Lin was in charge of text publicity tasks, such as drafting the content for the promotional posters and Tan Boyun’s opening speech; Little Five was responsible for arranging guest hospitality such as transportation, accommodation, breakfast, lunch, dinner; Tang Fei was in charge of arranging translation tasks; other projects also had dedicated personnel responsible for them.

There were foreign guests attending, but most of the audience was composed of Chinese doctors; hence, a translation was essential to interpret guests’ speeches, and facilitate a question-answer session between the audience and guests.

Tang Fei took the podium to report: “The conference speeches will all be delivered in English; the venue translation group is composed of myself, Director Tian, Dr. Yang, Song Zimo, and Dr. Jin. All doctors in the group have English proficiency assessed as highly competent.”

dical conferences involve many professional terms, so it might be embarrassing to translate without a certain dical background, despite the interpreting ability.

Many doctors from large hospitals have overseas studies experiences. So have even participated in translating dical monographs, making them better than translation companies.

Director Tan, Director Tian, Song Zimo, and Tang Fei had studied in the United States, Dr. Jin had studied in the United Kingdom, while Yang Ping, despite not having studied abroad, had excellent academic scores and a strong English foundation. With increased study over this period, his translation skills have rapidly improved without any issues.

Director Han needs no introduction. He has always communicated directly in English at overseas academic conferences, and he participated in formulating the English version of Sanbo Hospital’s dical certificate and other docunts.

Professor Zhang Zongshun, being 80, still reads original English dical literature. Since most of the achievents in Western dicine are docunted in English, learning English is to keep up with the international advanced standard and progress through education and communication.

Next, Zhang Lin gave a report on the progress of his text publicity tasks.

He displayed on the screen his designed posters, expert introductions, conference agendas, attendance guides, and the draft of Director Tan’s opening speech. Everything looked very professional and beautiful.’

Despite appearing lax, this guy surprisingly possesses profound writing skills. He does things systematically and properly when it cos to official matters.

Director Tan said while looking at the screen, “I have read the opening speech draft, and it’s very good. I made only minor andnts. This is the final version. Would everyone please check to see if there are any issues? If not, could Director Tian please help translate it into English?”

“No problem, send

the manuscript, Zhang Lin, and I will translate it tonight.” Director Tian had just read through the manuscript and was quite satisfied.

Director Tan had less ti recently compared to Director Tian, so he entrusted the translation of the speech to Director Tian.

Little Five was in charge of guest logistics, including airport pick-ups, accommodation, and the arrangent of breakfast, lunch and dinner. He opened a notebook: “I have already made arrangents with the hospital’s logistics departnt to send three business cars to the airport for pick-ups. The accommodations are arranged at the Tri-Bo Hotel. I reserved an entire floor for the guests to stay, and hotel rooms for other staffs based on the registration form. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will all be provided at Tri-Bo Hotel, with a buffet for breakfast and lunch. The dinner will be arranged in the hotel hall, and tables have been booked according to the number of people. This is the list of refreshnts and fruit for the conference’s two-day tea break, arrangent, standards for breakfast and lunch buffet, dinner nu, and the list of guests for each table. Take a look and see if anything needs to be adjusted.”

Little Five also made these into charts and displayed them on the screen, making it crystal clear.

The Tri-Bo Hotel was a hotel located inside the Sanbo Hospital. The majority of its guests were family mbers of patients. Whenever there was a conference at the hospital, it would also serve as the conference’s exclusive hotel.

“Little Five, I suspect you used to work in a convention company during the sumr when you were studying. Your arrangents are impeccable.” Upon seeing such mature arrangent from Little Five, Director Tian was impressed. Both the buffet and banquet had taken into account the tastes of experts from different countries.

“The nu is finalised after several discussions with the hotel.” Little Five zood in on the nu.

Dr. Zhong was in charge of collecting courseware: “I have collected all the courseware. Apart from a few professors who chose not to submit their slides, stating that they would bring them with them, there are no other issues.”

“All sponsorship funds for the conference have been secured. There are a total of thirty-two sponsors, and all their booth areas are well planned.” Dr. Jin and Fatty were in charge of sponsor managent. Dr. Jin managed the money, Fatty managed the accounts, and the hospital dispatched financial supervisors to monitor them.

dical academic conferences were usually sponsored by equipnt or pharmaceutical manufacturers. By sponsoring, the manufacturers would get a booth to display their products to all the experts attending the conference.

Everyone’s preparations over this period of ti were very thorough, Director Tan concluded after going through it without finding any problems, he said: “If a major ergency surgery happens to take place during the conference, we will demonstrate the entire surgical process. There will be three surgical demonstration teams, I, Director Tian, and Doctor Yang will be the chief surgeons, each with our own familiar assistant. This program is a bit risky, we have trauma ergency center patients almost every day now, so the likelihood of needing to perform a demonstration during the conference is pretty high. If we succeed, it would demonstrate our capabilities; if not, we’ll beco the laughing stock. Director, do you think this program is appropriate? Should we cancel it?”

Director Han is now working behind the scenes, not directly involved in organizing this academic conference, but he is helping make decisions. He shook his head and said: “No need to cancel it. It’s indeed very risky, but it also presents the best opportunity to test our capabilities. Let’s show what level we are at and compare ourselves to others. We should be bold and careful, our ideas should be bold, and our work should be ticulous.”

“Thank you for your support, Director! Based on our usual performance, there should be no problem. Dr. Yang, you don’t need to be involved in preparing for the academic conference during this ti. Rest and rejuvenate, and show the best of you on that day.” Director Tan entrusted Yang Ping with an important task.

Director Han paused and said: “Let

say a few more words. Just now we ntioned the demonstration of ergency trauma surgery, this is sothing that no traumatic orthopedic academic conference dares to undertake. Even if there are surgical demonstrations, they are often elective surgeries, as such they can be fully prepared with foolproof strategies. Director Tan, for your courage, I applaud you first!”

Everyone followed and applauded.

“For this surgery demonstration, everyone needs to stay calm and perform the surgery as usual. A doctor needs not only superb skills but also strong psychological quality. I want to tell you that this ti, we are demonstrating Sanbo’s standards to Fuer and Fuer, Nandu’s standards to Beijing and Shanghai, and China’s standards to foreigners. You need to show the best of your skills, that day there will be no bosses, no authority, you yourselves are the bosses, the authorities!”

The applause at the scene rang out again, these words were just as effective as a shot of adrenaline, everyone couldn’t hide their excitent, wishing the conference would start tomorrow.

Generally, everyone is busy with clinical work and rarely has the opportunity to showcase talents beyond dicine. During the preparations for this conference, they suddenly realized that their team was full of hidden talents.

“Any other issues?” Director Tan wrapped up the eting.

Everyone shook their heads. Director Tan sought Director Han’s opinion: “Director, shall we conclude the eting then?”

Director Han waved his hand: “Let’s conclude the eting!”

Director Tan announced the conclusion of the eting and everyone was extrely excited.

The patient that Su Nanchen introduced was already waiting in the eting room.
