"Charge!"
The light, that light akin to hope, surged at the end, and the faces of those refugees in front showed excitent. With a low growl, they used all their strength to rush toward that hopeful glow.
This light, though similar to the underground lights, had the sole distinction of illuminating the land and not the bottomless underground.
Standing on the ground, after experiencing chaos, everyone, upon seeing the land for the first ti, perford the sa action—taking a deep breath, ignoring everything under the flashing red light of the staircase behind them and greedily inhaling the air of the world.
"What are you trying to do?! Who let you bastards out?!"
A voice of anger rang out, and a guard holding a shotgun appeared, staring at these refugees with disdain.
On hearing the rebuke, most of the refugees shivered, instinctively looking at the guard. Many faces showed fear and panic. Having been imprisoned in that sunless underground, not knowing when they might die, this fear of the unknown had already crushed their spirits.
What's more, guards would often descend to seize people to toy with—not beating, then kicking, or capturing so won to have their way with.
Almost every woman taken out returned the next day as if their soul were lost, and a few days later, one would suddenly see those won dead.
Now, with the appearance of this guard, hearing his voice, seeing this familiar weapon, they couldn't suppress the fear in their hearts, trembling and losing their prior montum.
"Hmph! Refugees are just refugees!"
Seeing these people suddenly quiet down, this guard snorted coldly, sneering as he looked at these five thousand-plus individuals. With a casual wave, forty to fifty guards with guns hurried over.
Upon noticing this group of Test Subjects erging, they had already discovered it and had raced here at top speed. Now, seeing a companion beckoning, they naturally ran over to see what was going on.
"Let's work together to lock these guys back up. If they dare resist, kill them on the spot; we have an endless supply of Test Subjects anyway!"
With his companions arriving, this guard clapped his hands, wearing a smug expression. If he resolved this major issue, his superiors would definitely see him differently, paving the way for his promotion.
However, this guard didn't realize that his words had completely incited the Test Subjects he spoke of into a full-scale riot!
"Brothers and sisters! These scumbags don't regard us as humans at all! The opportunity to escape is right before us. Do you want to return to that sunless prison where you don't know when you'll die, or do you want to take a chance and fight for a way out?!"
"Yes! Brothers and sisters! We've been locked up here for so long, already having co to terms with death. But now that there's a living path before us, do we still need to be at peace with death?!"
"Returning ans certain death, but rushing out offers a chance of escape. Besides, do you want your bodies to be manipulated and serve these people after you die? Are you willing?!"
The incitent continued, yet it was the truth. With a path to life now visible, it was hard to want to return to that sunless underground.
Thus, at this mont, the eyes of all revealed cold resolve. Even with fear, the hope for survival fiercely suppressed their terror.
In the face of hope, they had to overco their fear, even if it ant death. How could they know if they could escape unless they tried?!
Additionally, the last statent struck a chord within them; no one wanted to leave their corpse to their enemy, especially when this enemy would continue harming others!
"Unwilling!"
Shouts of rage erupted from their mouths, and imdiately, the guards saw these so-called Test Subjects unleash terrifyingly powerful strength.
The guards closest to them were each grabbed by a dozen or so refugees. After being stripped of their equipnt and a bout of screams, they were left lifeless.
Among these refugees were many mbers of small Warlords' factions. When Baldeke swept through regions with his army, he conveniently captured these people. After all, they were from small Warlords, and no one would be surprised at how he dealt with them.
Thus, with a "seize them if you can" ntality, he had them brought here. Of course, most of those captured earlier had beco Transford People. Those caught later were seized either by upper or mid-level officers or were targeted and jointly captured by so squad leaders.
These people naturally knew they had to strike ruthlessly.
"What are you doing?!"
"Bang!"
The guard's roar and the sound of gunfire erupted almost simultaneously. In an instant, three or four people were hit and lay on the ground wailing. One unlucky soul was shot in the chest, dying and descending into the Netherworld.
"Roar!"
If it had been in the past, upon hearing gunshots, these people might have been too frightened to act. However, at this mont, their spirit of resistance was fully aroused. Even on hearing gunfire, they only instinctively shuddered; so dared not move, but many charged directly forward.
Those who were scared, seeing a group rushing out, hurriedly followed suit. Just like that, a wave of over five thousand people surged towards the forty or fifty guards.
Fists and gunshots intertwined; the large square beca extrely chaotic with the fight of over five thousand people.
.........
Underground!
"Boom..."
While chaos reigned above, the underground was even more chaotic, like ruins, with waves of explosions sounding. Pools of blood flowed from the debris, and many bodies lay atop the ruins, eyes wide with fear.
"Boss, my side is resolved, but I didn't find the laboratory."
The viewpoint zooms in to reveal Tao Tao, his eyes filled with pride, contacting Hao Jian. As the quickest to resolve things in this area, at least in his impression, he had reason to be proud, but the next sentence Hao Jian said left his face frozen.
"Regroup above ground, the laboratory has been destroyed by . Our first task is complete, now the second mission is to open the gate of the external base!"
"Bo... Boss... you... how did you do it so fast?"
"Nothing, it was simple."
Hao Jian said no more, closing the communication and heading up with a leap. For so reason, despite wandering around the internal base for a long ti, he hadn't seen anyone related to the main mission.
He had only destroyed a few laboratories and dealt with those inhumane experinters. The rest he planned to address when they exited.
After receiving Hao Jian's order, everyone imdiately stopped their actions, determined their directions, and rushed toward the ground. Each used a different thod, so like Hao Jian leapt upward, others looked for exits.
As they destroyed and prepared to leave, the five thousand above had already dealt with the guards, now moving chaotically towards the gate of the internal base.
Occasionally, so Transford People passed by them, but strangely enough, these Transford People seed unable to see them and ignored them.
However, the truth was, though these Transford People were strong, they had a flaw: they couldn't independently identify enemies and needed soone to command them.
Now, the ones who could command these Transford People, apart from the laboratory experinters, were the top officials of the base.
"General Baldeke! It's not good!"
In a very concealed corner of Baldeke's external base, a basent was beneath them. At this mont, Baldeke was receiving reports from his subordinates.
"What is it? Speak!"
Inside the living room, there was not only Baldeke but many others. On count, there were forty-six people. Among them, only two besides Baldeke were seated.
The rest stood, faces not showing dissatisfaction but rather filled with deep admiration.
"Our internal base, those imprisoned Test Subjects, collectively escaped! Sohow, their handcuffs were gone, and they all fled together!"
"What?!"
Upon hearing this, everyone's expression changed drastically, and Baldeke suddenly stood up, growling, "Imdiately, imdiately send people to stop them! That's over five thousand Test Subjects!"
"So many can be used for nurous experints, they absolutely cannot escape! If they do, I'll have your head!"
"You may shoot within permissible limits, but do not kill them. Each Test Subject is precious material; if they die, they are worthless!"
"Yes!"
The reporting subordinate promptly responded, then heard Baldeke close the communication. He hurriedly picked up another communication device to relay Baldeke's orders.
After closing the communication, Baldeke sat heavily onto the soft sofa, gaze gloomy, fingers tapping on his hand in silent contemplation.
"General Baldeke, let's go over there and have a look. I think there's a big problem with those Test Subjects escaping!"
A dark-skinned man slowly stood up, originally fair-skinned, his complexion turned dark due to a certain incident.
