Chapter 1188: Chapter 1186: Keeping the Appointnt

“Alright, no more nonsense with you.”

Seeing the assassin like this, Hao Jian didn’t want to waste any more words with him. He directly extended two fingers and said, “Now I’m giving you two choices. One, tell

everything you know, don’t try to fool , I know what you know. If your answer satisfies , I’ll let you go. The second option is I torture you first and then kill you!”

Facing Hao Jian, the assassin tightly gripped the assault rifle without saying a word, his gaze fixed on Hao Jian, the aning was self-evident—he refused Hao Jian’s proposition.

This was sothing Hao Jian realized just by looking at the assassin’s expression after he finished speaking. His mouth twisted downward, his eyes turned cold, and he snorted, “Incompetent!”

As his words fell, his foot slamd onto the ground, his figure shot out like an arrow leaving the bowstring, aid straight at the assassin.

Seeing Hao Jian’s swift movents, the assassin’s pupils shrank to pin size. Such speed was almost impossible for him to track, his assault rifle was rely held in his hands, not able to aim properly, the finger near the trigger hesitated.

“Huff…”

Suddenly, Hao Jian stumbled to the right as if he had tripped over sothing. The assassin saw this scene and his eyes suddenly sparkled with joy, then he decisively pressed the trigger.

“Bang!”

The bullet burst from the pitch-black muzzle, violently rushing toward Hao Jian’s tumbling direction. In the assassin’s delighted gaze, the bullet made contact with Hao Jian’s body!

“Clang!”

Yet, when the bullet hit Hao Jian, sothing unbelievable happened—the assassin watched with shock as his bullet passed through Hao Jian’s body and without obstruction flew into the nearby car!

No imagined blood splatter, no defeating the enemy as expected.

“Haha, you couldn’t see through such a simple blinding thod, seems like my underestimation was correct.”

As the assassin stood stunned, a quiet voice suddenly ca from behind him. His eyes imdiately narrowed, he lifted the gun, attempting to turn around.

“Snap!”

Unfortunately, a hand landed lightly on his neck, causing his expression to freeze, his movents slowed down.

“Move again, you’ll really lose your life.”

Hao Jian’s calm voice sounded once more. He stepped forward, his figure erging from behind the assassin.

“You…how?!”

“Haha, want to know how I appeared behind you, right?”

Regarding the assassin’s confusion, Hao Jian didn’t refuse to explain. Instead, he pointed to the scene the assassin had just witnessed. At that spot, Hao Jian was no longer present, only a quiet black hole in the nearby car.

“Mirage, understand?”

Hao Jian simply said this one sentence without further explanation, yet he believed the assassin understood what he ant. He had just used refraction principles, combined with his strength, to create a small mirage.

Hearing Hao Jian’s words, the assassin’s face showed a realization. Though he hadn’t mastered the technique, he had heard of it.

For in this world, only one person could achieve such magic…

“Are you the God of Death?”

“Correct.”

Touching his nose, Hao Jian chuckled lightly, “Since you know my identity, you should understand the consequences if you don’t follow my orders, right?”

“Didn’t expect to et the God of Death alive, and have the honor to fight him…”

Facing Hao Jian’s threat, the assassin was surprisingly composed.

Upon hearing this, Hao Jian frowned but said nothing.

“Now I can return to Hell, boast to my forr companions for a while…”

As he finished speaking, Hao Jian’s face changed drastically. Just as he was about to reach out, he saw the assassin suddenly fall backward.

“Boom!”

The assassin’s whole body heavily hit the ground.

“Dead?”

Crouching down, he reached out to check the assassin’s pulse. Hao Jian’s brows furrowed slightly, his expression sowhat grim. Despite his overwhelming advantage, he still carelessly let the assassin poison himself.

In this way, he hadn’t extracted any information and missed the chance to force out the faction behind the assassin.

“Ah, well, it was my carelessness.”

Unfortunately, the person had already committed suicide by poison. No matter how skilled he was in dicine, it was absolutely impossible to bring the dead back to life. His gaze fixed on the assassin’s face, which was gradually turning dark blue, with a hint of seriousness.

What exactly was the reason that made this assassin, even in death, unwilling to reveal the power behind him? And still poisoned himself knowing he was confronting the God of Death.

The nature of the God of Death’s killings spread long ago within the circle: anyone who knew his identity should understand that once he promises sothing, it’s hard for him to go back on his word.

“It’s getting late, let’s go have a al with that girl first!”

Glancing at his watch, Hao Jian found that there was still over an hour before the agreed ti with Lin Qingxue. He stood up slowly, grabbed the assassin’s body, and casually tossed it into the taxi.

Taking a spare can of gasoline from the car’s trunk, he evenly spread it over the entire vehicle. He then took the assault rifle left by the assassin and fired several shots at the car.

“Boom! Boom! Boom!”

A series of explosions thundered in this remote area. Fortunately, it was so secluded that no curious onlookers were drawn by such loud blasts.

Making a casual phone call to have Spice Ginger send soone to handle the situation, Hao Jian started to run. He spent ten minutes racing to a road where he could catch a taxi and then headed towards Hua City’s downtown. At this mont, there was only one hour left before eting Lin Qingxue.

“Those people are likely to co again, aren’t they?”

Now that he knew soone planned to assassinate him, this failure ant there would be another attempt. Hao Jian’s gaze was deep as he looked out at the landscape speeding past. His mind was imrsed in this recent attack.

“Why exactly that assassin…”

He shook his head, unable to figure it out. Upon snapping back to reality, he noticed the restaurant Lin Qingxue ntioned wasn’t far. He smiled and temporarily put those thoughts aside.

The right thing to do now wasn’t to worry about whether that power would keep coming after him but to focus on this girl—after all, she was one of his won.

Suddenly, he rembered sothing. Seeing there were still a few kiloters to the restaurant, Hao Jian quickly picked up his phone and called Spice Ginger, who was still handling his previous issues.

“Young Master Hao, what are your instructions?”

“Investigate that matter for . If you can dig up any information, all the better. But if you can’t, don’t force it; I’ll look into it myself.”

After pondering for a mont, Hao Jian instructed Spice Ginger to investigate, hoping to uncover anything he might have overlooked.

“Alright, leave it to !”

Spice Ginger imdiately agreed. He had just received news from the scene, and surprisingly Young Master Hao had caused another significant incident, leaving Spice Ginger feeling exasperated.

Yet, beneath that exasperation was also hidden anger—how dare soone move against Young Master Hao?! This was utterly disrespecting Spice Ginger!

“Leave it to you then. If you run into any trouble, be sure to inform !”

After those final words, Hao Jian ended the call.

Five minutes later…

“Hao Jian, over here!”

When Hao Jian appeared at the couple-thed restaurant, just about to call Lin Qingxue to ask where she was, a familiar, playful voice suddenly reached his ears.

Turning his head, he saw Lin Qingxue standing quietly by the window, her slender arms waving vigorously at him.

Seeing this, Hao Jian smiled, his gaze softened, and he walked over to Lin Qingxue. Once he reached her, he teased, “Didn’t expect you to have such good taste; I’ve never been to this restaurant before. How did you find such a place?”

Receiving Hao Jian’s complint, and recognizing the satisfaction in his words, Lin Qingxue’s pretty face lit with a smile, “I found this restaurant recently, it’s been open for less than a month.”

“For a while, you were out of town. The restaurant opened while you were gone, and now that you’re back, you can try it.”

“I heard the food here is quite tasty, though the prices aren’t cheap.”

Listening to Lin Qingxue proudly talk like she was reciting a treasure, Hao Jian quietly listened, occasionally laughing gently, his gaze increasingly soft. Upon hearing the last sentence, Hao Jian replied, “As long as the food is good, isn’t that what matters? Besides, what we care about is not what we eat but who we eat with.”

“Hmm!”

A little swept away by Hao Jian’s romantic words, Lin Qingxue’s pretty face flushed red. Feeling her cheeks heat up, she picked up the nu and waved at a nearby waiter, indicating they’d like to order.

Next, Lin Qingxue took charge of ordering two dishes, and Hao Jian ordered another two, as well as a bottle of red wine, requested from the waiter.

After ordering, Lin Qingxue rested her chin on her hands, her eyes gazing at Hao Jian with a dreamy look.

“Is there sothing on my face?”
