Chapter 662: Chapter 656: Hunting
Whoosh!
Suddenly, from among the shadows, a tall figure from the Alien Clan burst out, wielding a Demon Long Spear, his presence commanding and fierce. With a diagonal thrust of his spear, deep, dark fissures appeared in the space it passed, aid directly at Zuo Lingyun.
“It’s a Saint from the Alien Clan!”
Zuo Shi cried out in alarm. Although there had always been rumors that mbers of the Alien Clan lurked within the Demon Ruins, she had not expected to encounter a Saint from the Alien Clan just as they arrived.
“How could we encounter so many powerful beings from the Alien Clan as soon as we enter the Demon Ruins?”
Ye Xuan was equally astonished. They had only just arrived in the Demon Ruins and had not yet found their footing. How had they managed to attract the attention of so many Alien Clan mbers?
“Now’s not the ti for such talk.”
Zuo Shi shook her head, her expression growing increasingly grave. Around them, shadows were drawing closer, and there were as many as four Alien Clan warriors at the Half-Saint Level, encircling the two of them.
“They really think highly of us.”
Ye Xuan, looking at the four Alien Clan warriors approaching from all sides, couldn’t help but click his tongue. At the sa ti, disciples from other areas were also caught in encirclents, deeply embroiled in crisis.
“What are we waiting for, let’s get them together!”
Without wasting words, Zuo Shi drew her sword and charged forward.
However, after only exchanging two moves, Zuo Shi was forced to fall back.
“Let’s just run for it.”
Ye Xuan grabbed Zuo Shi by her slender waist and drew her into his embrace. His figure darted out like a crafty rabbit, rushing into the dark forest.
“Chase them!”
The four figures shouted fiercely upon seeing this and quickly pursued.
Carrying Zuo Shi, Ye Xuan’s figure sped through the forest. He glanced down at the pale-faced girl in his arms, who still showed signs of fright, and asked, “Are you alright?”
Zuo Shi shook her head and said, “Thank you. But what do we do now? My sister is still behind us.”
“Your sister is a Saint, after all; she shouldn’t have any problems. Besides, we don’t have ti to worry about others right now. We need to take care of our own situation first.”
The other side had four warriors at the Half-Saint Level, and although Zuo Shi could also contend against a Half-Saint, she had little experience in battle and probably couldn’t even defeat one of them. Ye Xuan had nurous tactics at his disposal, but the current situation was far from a fair fight. The enemy would not give Ye Xuan any ti to prepare.
Their predicant was extrely dire.
“These people clearly intend to kill us. With such relentless pursuit, they’re unlikely to stop until we’re dead,” said Ye Xuan, his figure speeding through the forest like a leopard, his voice deep.
“Then where can we possibly escape to?”
Zuo Shi’s face was deathly pale. Although she acted imperiously and fearlessly when at the Sect, when faced with such peril, panic was inevitable.
“I’m afraid they’ll catch up to us very quickly if I carry you.”
Ye Xuan glanced back at Zuo Shi, “I must put you down first.”
Looking back, he saw four figures rapidly closing in.
“Ah?” Zuo Shi was startled, imdiately her pretty face turned ashen, and mist seed to rise in her beautiful eyes. She clutched at Ye Xuan’s clothes, “Ye Xuan, you jerk! You’re dropping off to fend for myself, to die, for all I care—I don’t need your rescue!”
Seeing her reaction, Ye Xuan couldn’t help but laugh and cry, saying helplessly, “What are you thinking? If I carry you, we will eventually be caught, so I have to hide you and lead them away. Then you can go find Master Diancang and the others for reinforcents.”
Zuo Shi’s cheeks flushed red, realizing she had misunderstood Ye Xuan, but there was no ti to dwell on it. She urgently said, “No, it’s too dangerous for you to draw them away alone.”
She had just witnessed how formidable those four were—mbers of the Alien Clan with murderous intent and ruthless hands. If she fell into their grasp, she would surely die without a doubt.
“Don’t worry, my life is tough. It’s better to search for that sliver of hope rather than die together.”
Ye Xuan shook his head with a smile, his tone leaving no room for doubt. Then, with a swift movent, he took out a pill from the Qiankun Ring and handed it to Zuo Shi, “This pill can conceal your aura. I will put you down shortly, and you must hide imdiately, suppress your True Yuan, and they won’t be able to find you.” He insisted after doing this.
As Zuo Shi watched Ye Xuan perform these actions with practiced ease, she was sowhat stunned. She lifted her head slightly, and in the faint moonlight, she could see Ye Xuan’s handso face, which now wore a cold intensity, devoid of his usual gentleness. The sharpness in him was like a sword honed to an incredible edge, silently unsheathed and gleaming with nace.
“They’re coming.”
Ye Xuan suddenly increased his speed, banking sharply and dashing out, disappearing into the darkness, where he imdiately set Zuo Shi down.
Midair, Zuo Shi twisted her waist and stealthily landed on a large tree, swallowing the pill Ye Xuan had given her. Then, she hid herself in the dense foliage, swiftly suppressing the True Yuan flowing within her.
She watched nervously from above. Below her, four ghost-like figures quickly followed suit, reaching the spot, pausing to scan the area, then imdiately chasing off in the direction Ye Xuan had gone.
“A re two human brats are so fast. We received news from Long Dong that there’s been so trouble with the plan, a tough nut to crack. We must resolve this battle quickly and provide support!” Zuo Shi could still faintly hear so deep voices carried by the wind as they moved away.
Zuo Shi didn’t imdiately leap down from the tree to flee; she stayed hidden within the dense leaves. She knew Ye Xuan had risked extre danger to ensure her safety, so she couldn’t act rashly and ruin his plan.
“Ye Xuan, you mustn’t die. I promise you, if you survive, I will definitely accept your proposal!”
Her small fists clenched tight, Zuo Shi gazed in the direction where Ye Xuan and the four specter-like figures had vanished, her eyes filled with nervousness and worry.
Swish!
She waited a long while until all was quiet again, then agilely leaped down and swiftly made her way towards the center of the mountain range.
“Ye Xuan, hold on, I’m going to find Master Diancang and the others to rescue you!”
In the gloomy forest, Ye Xuan moved silently like a panther in the shadows. He glanced back briefly; the sound of rushing wind beca more urgent as the four dark shadows followed, half-seen and half-hidden.
“They really caught up.”
Ye Xuan whispered to himself. Then, he licked his lips lightly, the calmness in his eyes now tinged with a hint of crimson. He looked like a ferocious wolf ready to pounce on its prey.
“You really think I’m easy to bully, huh… It’s a pity, the roles of hunter and the hunted should be swapped now…” Ye Xuan’s lips curved into an excited arc. He flipped his hand over and the Human Emperor’s Scepter appeared in his grasp. His gaze fell on the scepter, “Old fellow, are you ready to hunt?”
