Michael quickly realized that talking to the Will was difficult. But what did he expect from a lonely being like the Will? He couldn't expect it to be sociable or to talk logically.
Still, he'd hoped the Will wouldn't be a social wreck and confusing.
"So…what exactly am I doing here? Is this so sort of necessary process to upgrade the Untad Jungle into a Primal Region, or did you pull away from the Origin Expanse to look at everything from above to tell how well I am doing? If it is the latter, why? Or maybe I'm just missing out on sothing. I don't know. This is very confusing."
Michael sighed while studying the form of the Will again. The more he looked at it, the more the Will looked like him. The Will looked just like Michael. The fra, at least.
That was also confusing, forcing Michael to think about sothing else to get distracted. After all, the Will did not even think about answering his questions. It looked at him, not uttering a single word. That was how Michael ended up thinking about the things the Will had said. 'Wasn't there sothing about a plan? A plan about the new era and the ti it would take to get started with everything?' Michael wondered.
He learned from the Will that the Origin Expanse possessed as much Essence as the weave. That was shocking, to say the least. It pushed Michael's mind to think about how powerful he would be if he had been in control of the entire Origin Expanse. If he conquered the entire Origin Expanse…would he be given access to the Expanse's Essence? Would he be strong enough to beat the six Primal simultaneously if so?
Michael was unsure about the forr, but the latter seed feasible. At least, it would be easier to defeat the Primal if he had as much Essence as the universe, the gods, and the Primal shared.
"What exactly was your plan? The plan that took eons to take off? You said the Lords achieved what you have been hoping for. Does that an the new era has started?" Michael asked, but Will did not answer with a single word. It didn't even utter a single noise.
Instead, the Will gathered sothing in its hands that took Michael by great surprise. It was an Essence, pristine as the remaining Essence accumulated within the Will. However, sothing about it was different. It felt oddly familiar through Seer. Sothing about its consistency, properties, and structure was oddly familiar.
Maybe if Michael didn't possess a secondary body for a while, he wouldn't have noticed anything. But with Seer used at maximum power and great mories, which had engraved everything he ever witnessed in his mind, Michael rembered where he had seen it. Through Seer, Michael had seen sothing rooted in the deepest parts of his secondary body. However, this 'sothing' did not belong to the secondary body. It was a minuscule share of what had accumulated within Michael. The secondary body, as it was constructed after the image of the main body, cut a tiny portion of the things it couldn't copy. That was how an unknown Essence, rooted in the secondary body, entered Michael's vision.
He never knew where the Essence ca from but researched it a little. He tore his body apart once he learned his body contained the sa unknown Essence, but never learned much about the Essence. His research ended without any results. He didn't discover anything of use. But that was okay. Having sothing unknown in your body was odd, but Michael had never noticed it. The Essence wasn't hurting him either, and the God Curses considered it a good on that his body contained a trace of the purest Essence. They even said the pure Essence might have been why they picked him as their vessel. Maybe the Will decided Fenrir was the perfect fit for Michael because of that. That was what Micheal thought at first, too. He'd listened to the God Curses and decided the unknown pure Essence was his fortune. It was a little piece of fortune.
That was what he'd thought. But when he saw the sa Essence forming in the Will's hand, Michael's confidence crumbled. It shattered when he thought about the Will's plan of a new era and that the Lords had achieved what he wanted. Last but not least, there was the Will's shape. The pristine fra of pure Essence looked too much like Michael. Even a blind Awakened could tell that.
"What…is that? No, don't answer the question…I think I know the answer," Michael murmured, his eyes widening as the pieces ca together.
He never thought about it that way and considered himself lucky. After all, he had been very lucky. The Will had always played in his favor. Always.
Every single ti.
Everything was…almost like it was perfectly executed to push Michael to his limits ntally and physically. As if sothing or soone was trying to push him above and beyond his limits through the challenges thrown at him, inside and outside the Origin Expanse. He had always considered it a coincidence and part of the Curse thing everyone had been talking about. After all, Curses were pursued by misfortune, but Michael could turn misfortune into fortune via Extraction. That was why he started considering himself as extrely lucky at so point.
But now everything felt like the result of a well-oiled plan—a perfect plan to create soone capable of fighting the Primal head-on.
The color drained from Michael's face as realization struck.
He was part of the Will's plan. He had always been.
And everything went down like the Will had devised. The new era had started, just like the Will wanted.
Michael's eyes narrowed to tiny slits. Had he always been a marionette of the Will? If that was the case…where did his decisions start, and where did they end? Had he ever been in control of his actions in the first place, or was everything planned from the beginning?
Michael started doubting his existence.
