Chapter 1139: Edmund Blake
When Idan asked her why she was so sure that Eleanor would agree to bee her subordinate, Geminia only smiled mysteriously and instead said,
“Please bring me back to my home.”
Seeing that Geminia did not want to reveal the reason, he did not insist and returned her to the threshold of the Auction House with a wave of his hand.
When she left, Eleanor stopped thinking and returned to her usual self, joining the conversation.
“What did you want to talk to us about?” she asked Idan. “Let me guess: about the Blake family?”
Idan didn’t answer immediately, staring intently at her face, which had bee even more youthful. He was right: his grandmother was indeed a beauty in her youth. And now, she was regaining her former beauty and even being even more attractive thanks to the beauty pill.
“Yes, you’re right, Grandma. I’ve gathered you here mainly to talk about the Blake family,” Idan confirmed after a short pause, as if considering something. “To be more precise, I wanted to discuss my intention to annex the Blake family to the Kingdom.”
Ryan and Amanda widened their eyes at this statement, while Eleanor, on the other hand, smiled even wider, as if that was exactly what she expected him to say.
In Eleanor’s eyes, the current Blake family is not what it used to be. It has lost its strength, unity and, most importantly, its traditions.
Now the family has bee just a tool in the hands of beings from other worlds.
“Tell me about the Blake family,” Idan asked, wanting to learn more about his roots before making any decisions.
“Of course,” Eleanor happily agreed. Together with Amanda, they began to talk about the family, starting with what it was like before the global catastrophe, and ending with what it has bee now.
“Are all the ancient and influential families like this?” wondered Idan, learning more about his family by the minute. He couldn’t help but pare her to the Morgan family, one of the most influential families in the Federation.
Idan couldn’t help but laugh ironically at the thought. Previously, he had despised powerful families, not realizing that he himself belonged to one of them to some extent.
However, things were different now. Idan and Arabel did not intend to bee part of their families, but decided to create their own, the Fein family.
Idan listened with interest to the history of the Blake family, but most of all he was interested in how things were going now.
The head of the family is Edmund Blake, also known as Edmund Magnus Blake. He received the name Magnus after his rebirth, when he regained his youth and power.
Initially, Edmund Blake was older than Eleanor and planned to transfer power to his heir. However, due to the reluctance of Adrian, the direct heir and son of the main wife, the choice of an heir became a real problem and dragged on for a long time.
Until Disaster struck, and then, two years later, Creatures from the World of Fire appeared. In exchange for loyalty, they restored Edmund’s youth and strength.
An old man who was on the verge of death has found a new life. As a result, he abandoned his desire to give up power over his family and seized it with renewed vigor and greed.
“And, of course, all this violated not only traditions, but also the plans of various factions within the family,” Idan shook his head, looking at his grandmother, Amanda and Ryan.
From the story, he realized that each of them represented a separate group in the Blake family.
Among them, Eleanor’s faction was the weakest. It was partly her own fault—she refused to accept the help of creatures from the world of fire. As a result, most of her followers were indirectly lured away by Edmund, depriving her of influence.
More importantly, Eleanor’s faction remained the only one in the family that did not have its own protective clan.
Ryan and Adrian belonged to the faction that the Flaming Ifrith clan supported.
Amanda was part of the faction supported by the Flaming Eagles clan.
“Thus, the power over the Blake family was divided between the clans from the world of Fire,” Idan concluded.
“But the most important thing is that the people of Livia have control over the main family and even over Edmund himself.”
It was a good thing for Idan.
Although Livia did not choose anyone from the main family as a Contractor, her subordinates like Cecile pletely controlled them through Patronage.
“It’s a good thing that I didn’t kill or capture Livia, but subdued it. Thanks to her, I have influence in the main family, which will greatly simplify the process of joining the family to the Kingdom,” with these thoughts, Idan broke away from his thoughts, not wanting to delve into the intrigues taking place within the family.
Moreover, he was not going to deal with this issue himself.
There were three excellent candidates sitting in front of him.
“Well, that’s enough. Now I more or less understand how things are,” Idan began, turning to Eleanor. “Grandma, I want to entrust you with joining the Blake family to the Kingdom.”
“Hehe, I wanted to ask you, grandson, to entrust this to me,” Eleanor agreed with a smile, a fire of anticipation lit in her eyes.
“Here, Grandma, use this to help your people and attract new followers,” with these words, Idan pulled out the first three books and put them on the table.
“These are the first three volumes of the Path of Mastery manual,” he explained.
Eleanor, Ryan, and Amanda stared in mute amazement at the three books that Idan had so easily taken out of the spatial ring.
But Idan didn’t stop there.
“There are many manuals in the Kingdom,” he said. “There is a manual on the Path of Magic among them, but nowadays people cannot awaken their innate element on their own, so they won’t be needed in your task yet.”
Idan pulled out another book and some Small Low-quality Soul Crystals.
“This is a manual to the Path of the Beast Tamer.”
“Use this manual and crystals on your most trusted people,” Idan added. “If you need any more crystals, let me know or Belle.”
“As for the second and third volumes, I’ll provide them to you later.”
“I will also introduce you to Livia,” Idan continued.
“Livia? And who is she?” asked Eleanor, although the name seemed familiar to her.
“She’s one of the representatives of the Council of the Golden Fire Faction that Idan subjugated,” Ryan answered instead of Idan.
“What? The same Livia?” Amanda and Eleanor exclaimed in unison.
Idan nodded in confirmation.
“And you subdued her?” she couldn’t believe it.
Idan nodded again.
Eleanor was overe with excitement. Thanks to the resources and connections offered by her grandson, she had the opportunity to easily seize control of the family, remove her husband from the post of head and appoint her grandson in his place.
In her opinion, Idan was perfect for this role. But if he was against it, Eleanor had her eldest grandson in mind.
“Grandma, when you meet with Livia, first discuss a plan to attract the Flaming Eagles clan to our side,” Idan said, glancing at Amanda, who nodded at him with a smile, realizing his intentions.
“Whatever you say, grandson,” Eleanor immediately understood Idan’s intentions and did not object.
In order to safely seize power in the family, Eleanor understood that first it was necessary to deal with the clans associated with the different factions of the Blakes. Technically, power still belonged to Edmund and the Main Family, but the real rulers had long been the clans from the World of Fire, and Livia stood above their representatives on Earth.
However, even Livia’s power was not absolute.
She was only the representative of the Council of the Golden Fire Faction on Earth, and not the one who truly stood at the head of the ancient clans in the World of Fire. Acting too abruptly or suspiciously on her part could attract the attention of other Council members.
Therefore, Eleanor had no intention of forcing the clans to submit by force.
It was much safer to use Livia’s influence to win them over through mon interests and benefits.
