At midnight, in the old district of the city.

Zhao Cheng sneaked into a secluded alley and approached the entrance of a shabby store.

He pulled out a stack of cash from his chest, around a hundred thousand, and knocked on the store’s window.

The window opened, and Zhao Cheng placed the cash inside. After a short while, a package was thrown out from within.

Zhao Cheng quickly picked up the package, tore it open, and found a pistol inside.

He fiddled with the pistol, his face a mix of excitent and malice.

"Chen Fan, even if you are a Celestial Master, you surely won’t be able to stop a bullet. I’m willing to risk everything this ti to send you to hell!"

He stuffed the pistol into his chest and then walked out of the alley.

Chen Fan stood on the rooftop of a bungalow, witnessing the scene unfold.

"It seems Zhao Cheng truly hates to the bone. I thought after he fled today, he would reflect on his wrongdoings. It looks like I overestimated him," Chen Fan muttered to himself before calling out, "Tong."

Tong appeared out of thin air behind Chen Fan and bowed slightly, "Big Brother Chen Fan."

Chen Fan looked down at Zhao Cheng in the alley, "You died because of Zhao Cheng, and the resentnt you bear cos from him. When he escaped from the banquet today, I didn’t chase him because I wanted to give you a chance."

"Now that the Zhao family is destroyed, the grudge between you and him should also co to an end."

Tong solemnly nodded, her eyes filled with hatred as she looked towards Zhao Cheng, then drifted into the alley.

At that mont, Zhao Cheng was still exhilarated from acquiring a lethal weapon, firmly believing that all Daoist Sect spells were futile before firearms.

Just then, he felt a chilling wind sweep over him, causing goosebumps to rise on his skin, "Huh? Why does it suddenly feel so cold?"

The sole dim light bulb in the alley began to flicker.

As light and shadow played across Zhao Cheng’s vision, he noticed a figure in a dark corner, causing his heart to skip a beat and he stopped in his tracks.

He scrutinized the shadow; because the lighting was dim, he could only make out it was a woman in red with her face covered by long hair.

Suddenly, the light in the alley went out, plunging everything into pitch darkness.

Zhao Cheng instinctively clutched the pistol in his chest.

Click!

The light ca back on.

Zhao Cheng saw the shadow in the corner had vanished.

"Must have been my imagination," Zhao Cheng thought to himself.

He decided to keep walking, but as he took a step, the light went out again.

When the light returned, Zhao Cheng saw a face with half-covered hair, entirely black eyes, stained with bloody tears, and deathly pale, just inches from his own.

"Fuck!" Zhao Cheng was scared out of his wits, his body shot backwards, and he drew the gun, firing wildly.

As a ghost, Tong was impervious to bullets.

She stared intently at Zhao Cheng and began to walk towards him step by step.

Zhao Cheng, terrified, watched the red-dressed ghost in front of him, stamring out, "Don’t co any closer! Don’t co any closer!"

Tong retorted with resentnt, "That day on the rooftop, I said the sa thing. Did you listen?"

Zhao Cheng was startled, with a mory flashing in his mind. Then he opened his eyes wide, disbelief in his voice, "You... You’re Tong?"

Tong sneered, "You even rember ."

Zhao Cheng swallowed hard and imdiately knelt to the ground to kowtow, "I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I never thought you would really jump, I apologize to you, please let go, I will burn paper money for you every year, I beg you!"

"So my life is only worth an apology in your eyes," Tong’s face beca ferocious and terrifying, "What right do you have to live!"

Zhao Cheng only felt a blur before his eyes, followed by a flood of terrifying images and sounds in his mind.

Tong’s ghostly face was deeply imprinted in his mind, and he felt that no matter where he went, Tong would always follow him.

He was frightened, scared, angry, but it was all in vain.

He writhed on the ground, clutching his head, emitting bursts of wails.

After a long ti, Zhao Cheng could no longer endure this ntal torture and turned the gun on himself, pulling the trigger.

Bang!

The alley regained its tranquility.

Zhao Cheng lay in a pool of blood, his eyes wide open and his expression distorted, a residue of fear and helplessness he experienced before death.

Tong returned to her normal appearance, gave Zhao Cheng one last look, and the wisps of resentnt surrounding her dissipated at that mont.

She then flew to where Chen Fan was, "Brother Chen Fan, let’s go."

Chen Fan nodded, leaped up, and disappeared into the night with Tong.

...

Hillside Villa.

Tong flitted about the living room cheerfully, having shed her resentnt, she looked much more vivacious, less like a ghost and more like a fairy.

Chen Fan watched Tong for a while, "Tong."

Tong flew to Chen Fan’s side with a smile, "Brother Chen Fan, what is it?"

Chen Fan hesitated but eventually spoke slowly, "Now that your hatred has been resolved, it’s ti to start a new life. Do you have any wishes?"

Tong understood Chen Fan’s implication, a trace of reluctance crossed her face as she knelt before him, "Brother Chen Fan, you have shown great kindness to Tong, which I will rember forever. Alas, I am but a wild ghost, without the ans to repay you. This guilt weighs heavily on my heart."

"So before I reincarnate, apart from wanting to take one last look at my parents, I would like Brother Chen Fan to help retain the mories of this life. In my next life, I want to return as a flesh and blood daughter to repay Brother Chen Fan!"

Chen Fan was taken aback, never expecting Tong to have such a wish.

Indeed, the Jiuyou Immortal Emperor’s legacy had thods capable of doing this, but Chen Fan was doubtful, "This... isn’t a good idea, is it?"

Tong’s face was resolute, "Brother Chen Fan, you have celestial abilities. I know you can make it possible for to retain my mories in reincarnation. I just want a chance to repay you. If Brother Chen Fan does not agree, I would rather not reincarnate and stay by your side until my soul power is exhausted and I dissipate between heaven and earth!"

Chen Fan sighed, resignedly agreed, "Alright then, I’ll try."

Tong, with a joyous face, floated up to Chen Fan and kissed him on the cheek, "Brother Chen Fan, thank you."

Chen Fan felt sothing cold touch his face but felt nothing else, still quite embarrassed.

Considering that Tong was soon to be reincarnated, he said nothing.

However, Tong’s cheeks turned incredibly red, flushed with shyness.

She hesitated for a mont, then finally mustered the courage to say, "Brother Chen Fan, Tong has one more wish."

Chen Fan asked, "What is it?"

Tong suddenly beca seductive, drew close to Chen Fan’s ear, and whispered softly, "Before I reincarnate, Tong wants to be with Brother Chen Fan..."
