Chen Fan was stunned.
After a while, he gave two light coughs and said, "Stop making trouble."
Shen Lingdie seldom showed an angry expression, "Who’s making trouble with you!"
"Bad man! Stinky man!"
After cursing, she turned around and walked towards the outside.
But after taking two steps, she realized sothing was amiss, turned back to look at Chen Fan, and said, "This is my room!"
Chen Fan sighed helplessly and said, "Fine, I’ll leave, you cool down."
Having said that, he walked out of Shen Lingdie’s room.
Shen Lingdie slamd the door shut with a bang.
Chen Fan couldn’t help but shake his head, muttering to himself, "Seems like I need to find a way to put a stop to Lingdie’s ideas, otherwise if this continues, who knows what kind of situation might arise."
As he walked, he thought, and soon, an idea erged in his mind, lighting up his eyes with a bright spark.
"Although I’m not sure if this thod will work, there’s no harm in trying. Hopefully, Lingdie will drop her thoughts of in the future."
"I wonder how Qi Heng has been doing these past few days. I’ll go and visit his family today."
Thinking this, Chen Fan asked the Shen Family butler for the Qi Family’s address and made his way there.
...
Qi Family’s old residence.
In the courtyard, Qi Family’s patriarch Qi Delong as well as the high-level mbers of the Qi Family were gathered.
Everyone wore a look of confusion on their faces, engaged in animated discussions.
"Why has Qi Heng called us all here? I don’t have ti to waste with him."
"That kid said he has sothing important to announce, who knows what he’s planning."
...
At this mont, a young man about two years younger than Qi Heng who bore a slight resemblance to him approached Qi Delong and said, "Dad, what nonsense is that good-for-nothing brother of mine up to now? He does nothing all day but tarnish our family’s reputation. In my opinion, we should just send him off to be a live-in son-in-law as soon as possible, then our Qi Family can finally have so peace."
Qi Delong’s face was stern as he said, "Since he’s going to be a live-in son-in-law for an arranged marriage soon, let him have a few monts of nonsense."
The young man curled his lip and said nothing more.
He was Qi Heng’s younger brother, Qi Yan, who had always outperford Qi Heng in every aspect. At the age of seven, he had beco a disciple of Zhou Yun, a well-known master calligrapher in Gang City. Now he had reached the Dao Entering Realm, considered a rare prodigy within the realm of magic in Gang City.
Zhou Yun’s status in Gang City’s realm of magic was second only to Lu Jiuxuan, and being Zhou Yun’s disciple had always been Qi Yan’s pride.
Because of Qi Yan’s exceptional performance and Qi Heng’s lack of accomplishnts, even though Qi Heng was the eldest son, he was arranged to be a live-in son-in-law to further the family’s developnt.
Qi Yan, on the other hand, was being grood as the next family head.
For this reason, Qi Yan had always looked down on his elder brother, who had grown so big yet achieved nothing.
Not long after, Qi Heng arrived in front of everyone, his face brimming with excitent.
The news of Master Chen slaying Lu Jiuxuan at Azure Dragon Mountain was buzzing throughout Gang City, and the Qi Family was naturally stunned by this event.
And of course, Qi Heng knew that the Chen Master, renowned in Gang City’s realm of magic for his incredible spells, was none other than Chen Fan himself.
He wanted to seize this opportunity to announce to all mbers of the Qi Family that he would soon beco a disciple under Master Chen, hoping to escape the fate of becoming only a live-in son-in-law.
Qi Yan looked at Qi Heng with a cold sneer and said, "Qi Heng, why have you called everyone here with such a fuss? Don’t tell you’ve been bullied by so other family’s kid again and need our support?"
The mbers of the Qi Family couldn’t help but laugh.
Qi Heng’s face turned cold as he glanced at his younger brother who had never taken him seriously and said loudly, "I’ve gathered everyone here today to tell you that I’m about to beco a disciple under Master Chen. Therefore, I refuse to be the bridegroom of convenience for the family. Whoever you want to send, send them, but I’m not going."
Everyone was taken aback.
Qi Delong looked at his son with a stern face and yelled, "Do you realize what you are saying!"
The focus of Qi Yan’s attention, however, was on Qi Heng’s claim of becoming a disciple under Master Chen. He stepped forward and asked, "The Master Chen you’re talking about, is he the one who slew Lu Jiuxuan?"
A smug smile appeared on Qi Heng’s face, "Yes, that’s him!"
The faces of the Qi Family mbers were filled with surprise.
"Qi Heng is going to beco a disciple under that Master Chen? Is this true or false? If it’s true, then he really shouldn’t be sent as a groom of convenience."
"This Master Chen is an even more formidable figure than Lu Jiuxuan. If Qi Heng can truly beco his disciple, let alone not sending him as a groom of convenience, I wouldn’t object to him becoming the head of the family either!"
...
Qi Yan’s face darkened as he shouted, "Don’t be fooled by him; I think he’s just looking for an excuse to avoid being a groom of convenience!"
Qi Heng looked at Qi Yan and said, "Who is fooling you? What I’m saying is the truth!"
Qi Yan sneered, "Brother, I’m not mocking you, but everyone in the Qi Family knows what you’re like. Do you really think Master Chen would take a liking to you? And have you forgotten how Lu Jiuxuan chased you away when you begged him to take you as a disciple?"
Qi Heng, reminded of the painful mory, felt a surge of anger, "That’s because Lu Jiuxuan lacked vision!"
Qi Yan burst into laughter, "Stop kidding, alright? If Lu Jiuxuan didn’t see value in you, do you think Master Chen who is even more formidable would? You are but a diocre person, becoming a groom of convenience is your only destiny, just accept it!"
The mbers of the Qi Family also felt that Qi Yan made sense, considering that Qi Heng had indeed been driven away by Lu Jiuxuan in the past, and he had accomplished nothing all these years, they instinctively believed Qi Yan’s words more.
Qi Delong looked at Qi Heng and said sternly, "Qi Heng, stop fooling around."
Qi Heng clenched his fists, his teeth gritted, "I’m not fooling around, I’m telling the truth!"
Qi Yan spoke up, "Since you’re so certain, then tell us, why would Master Chen take you as a disciple?"
Qi Heng took a deep breath and then recounted the process of how he t Chen Fan at the Earth Fiend Sect.
As Qi Yan listened to the story, he couldn’t help but furrow his brow. From the details Qi Heng gave, it seed he wasn’t lying. He hadn’t expected his brother to be so lucky to actually know Master Chen.
However, soon he sneered and said, "But you just said that Master Chen didn’t refuse you but wanted to evaluate you, so he kept you close by, right?"
Qi Heng nodded, "Exactly!"
Qi Yan laughed as he spoke, "Then how do you know that Master Chen isn’t just finding you annoying and is giving you the runaround? Shouldn’t it be clear to you that if you truly had exceptional talent, Master Chen wouldn’t talk about evaluating you?"
Qi Heng was stunned.
He really hadn’t considered this possibility.
Qi Yan continued, "And there’s another important point, Master Chen has never said he would take you as a disciple from the beginning to the end, right? Where does your confidence co from to summon us all here and announce this matter? If Master Chen finds out you are proclaiming to beco his disciple before gaining his approval, do you think he would still take you in?"
A pang of fear suddenly gripped Qi Heng’s heart as feelings of dread rose within him.
He now realized that he might indeed have been too rash.
"Have I been too presumptuous?" self-doubt began to erge in Qi Heng’s heart.
Qi Yan challenged him, "Do you still dare to say that you will beco a disciple under Master Chen? Do you think he’d accept soone as useless as you?"
Qi Heng collapsed, sitting on the ground with a vacant look in his eyes.
Seeing his objective achieved, a hint of a cold smile flashed in Qi Yan’s eyes.
Just then, a voice leisurely sounded, "I will take him as my disciple."
