"Xinghuo?"
Ren Mian looked shocked, disbelief apparent in her eyes.
She would never forget Ji Xinghuo’s voice—it was sothing she often recalled.
When a few Winged People were killed by a single arrow earlier, displaying remarkable archery skills, she imdiately thought of Ji Xinghuo, but quickly deed it impossible.
The last ti they parted, Xinghuo had only been an Interdiate Mutant.
In a little over a year and a half, how could Xinghuo’s strength have increased to such an extent that he could kill a Legendary with a single arrow?
Then, Ren Mian saw the Highlander opposite her remove his arm guards, and his body shrank, his heavily muscled face slimd down, reverting to a familiar countenance.
"Hehe..." Ji Xinghuo smiled proudly, "Ren Jie, do you recognize now?"
Ren Mian looked as if she had seen a ghost, her beautiful eyes wide open.
She then looked at Ji Xinghuo’s current appearance, sowhat amused yet incredulous. Though he had regained his human appearance, he still sported a bald head and a large beard, with blood-colored tattoos that made him look quite fierce and barbaric.
"Why are you dressed up like this?" she asked with a beaming smile, feeling completely reassured as she controlled the surrounding plants and monsters to clear a path.
Qing Hong then continued running forward, suddenly flashing, moving instantaneously to the front.
Ren Mian’s eyelids twitched.
At that mont, Ji Xinghuo jumped down from Qing Hong’s back, touching his bald head, "Disguising like this makes it easier to move around on the Bloody Plateau." He slled the familiar scent and imdiately felt much calr as he stood a few steps away, watching Ren Mian’s beautiful face, his eyes filled with concern and joy.
Ren Mian was also examining Ji Xinghuo, the more she looked, the more shocked she felt, familiar yet unfamiliar as if eting him for the first ti, her eyes brimming with different colors.
Suddenly, Ji Xinghuo stepped forward and gently embraced her.
Ren Mian did not move away.
However, he just embraced her briefly and then let go, laughing, "It’s been over a year, Ren Jie, you’ve beco even more beautiful, haha!"
"You rogue, always so bold, taking the opportunity as soon as we et." Ren Mian said, yet without any trace of anger, feeling sowhat joyous inside.
Ji Xinghuo unabashedly retorted, "I’m just expressing my happiness, reuniting after such a long ti."
He quickly changed the topic, his gaze sweeping over the bodies of the Winged People. He had deliberately approached within a thousand ters before making his move, already having absorbed the Spiritual Origin Ability, he asked, "Ren Jie, why were these bird people attacking you? Do you have a feud with them?"
"Not before today." Ren Mian pointed at the female Winged Person, "I’ve worked with her a few tis, must have inadvertently shown sothing, and she set her sights on ."
She let out a sigh.
"I thought she was a decent partner, never expected to be so wrong. She even found this place," she then looked at Ji Xinghuo, "What about you? How co you happened to be here?"
"When I was in Eternal Day City, I accidentally heard her saying she was going to harm Earth people, so I secretly followed them. I didn’t expect it would be Ren Jie," Ji Xinghuo spoke truthfully, "It’s also a kind of fate, lucky that I followed."
"Thank you," Ren Mian said earnestly.
Ji Xinghuo, dismissing it with a laugh, said, "I know, even without , Ren Jie could have handled these Winged People."
"That would have co at a great cost," Ren Mian said softly, then suddenly asked, "Have you been to Earth Abyss Star since you went to Eternal Day City?"
"Yes," Ji Xinghuo nodded.
Ren Mian took another look at him and then at Qing Hong next to him, "What’s your strength now? You haven’t advanced to Legendary, have you?"
"Not yet, just a Super Mutant." Ji Xinghuo noticed her unease, obviously because she rembered the promise they had made and laughed, "Don’t worry, Ren Jie, we still have a year and a half, and I will definitely advance to Legendary, claim your gift, and then make a request to you."
"We’ll see when you get there."
Ren Mian’s face regained its composure, but inside her mind, stormy waves surged.
If Ji Xinghuo had advanced to Legendary, although she would have been incredibly surprised, it would still be within her understanding. After all, with Ji Xinghuo’s extraordinary combat talent, a Legendary Mutant killing a Winged King isn’t entirely outlandish.
However, Ji Xinghuo was only a Super Mutant.
The strength he demonstrated just now far surpassed most Legendaries, even she would have struggled against those arrows.
Not only had he killed a Winged King across levels, but it was also an instant kill, which was extrely exaggerated.
Even though those three Winged Kings were only ordinary Legendaries.
At that mont, Qing Hong, seeming to finally recognize Ren Mian, affectionately moved closer to lick her hand, Ren Mian jumped back, startled, anyone would feel overwheld with a Catastrophe-Level War Pet up close, so she instinctively stepped back two steps, saying, "Xinghuo, keep it under control."
"It’s Qing Hong, Ren Jie," Ji Xinghuo explained, "It ans no harm."
Qing Hong made a whining sound, seeming a bit aggrieved.
"Qing Hong!"
Ren Mian looked at the formidable creature in front of her—she certainly rembered Qing Hong, a na she herself had given, but how could it be that in just over a year, it had changed so much to beco so frightening?
In that mont, she wondered whether her mory had beco disordered.
"It has changed so much, what happened?"
Trusting that Ji Xinghuo would not deceive her, she finally reached out and touched Qing Hong’s head, its sharp horns and mane making her feel very unreal.
"Well, it’s a long story," Ji Xinghuo hesitated about where to begin.
"Then take your ti, we have plenty of it," Ren Mian waved her hand.
