"Senior Brother Long! Are you all right?" Liu Bian’s face changed dramatically.
"My Golden Sun Sword has actually..." Zhang Qianyu stared at the broken sword in his hand, utterly dumbfounded. He knew the weapon Long Chen had bought was a Pseudo Heavenly Soldier. Although it retained the strength of a Heavenly Top-grade weapon, it couldn’t possibly be stronger than a true Heavenly Soldier! After all, his Golden Sun Sword was also a Heavenly Top-grade weapon with a complete set of Curse Marks—it even had gold-type Curse Marks that could strengthen the sword’s might! Yet, his Heavenly Top-grade weapon, enhanced by gold-type Curse Marks, had failed to sever a Pseudo Heavenly Soldier that had lost the might of its own Curse Marks? What he found most unacceptable was not just his failure to sever Long Chen’s weapon, but that his own Golden Sun Sword had shattered in the process!
"I’m fine." Long Chen looked at the Blackwind Sword in his hand, a profound shock filling his heart. He had rely swung his sword in haste to block, yet it had effortlessly severed Zhang Qianyu’s sword. Logically, with Zhang Qianyu’s Martial Arts Realm and the enhancent from the gold-type Curse Marks, his sword should have been stronger than a Pseudo Heavenly Soldier. Even if it couldn’t sever the Pseudo Heavenly Soldier, it should have at least chipped the Blackwind Sword, or at the bare minimum left a slash mark! Yet, the Blackwind Sword was completely unscathed—not even a trace of a mark remained. It had even cut right through Zhang Qianyu’s sword! This could only an one thing: the Blackwind Sword had an extraordinary origin.
"Where is the Martial Institute’s Enforcent Hall? A disciple has violated the Sect’s rules right here! Aren’t you going to do anything about it?" Suddenly, Liu Bian shouted, drawing more and more spectators.
"Upholding the rules is the Enforcent Hall’s duty. Of course we will intervene!" A group of more than ten people stepped out from the crowd. They were n and won alike, all appearing to be in their twenties, and were uniformly dressed in black robes over black clothes. At their waists hung blood-red tokens engraved with the words "Enforcent Hall."
Liu Bian explained in a low voice, "Senior Brother Long, they are the stewards and disciples of the Enforcent Hall. They are directly subordinate to the King’s Court and answer only to the Sect Leader. Their main hall is in the King’s Court, and there are also four sub-halls located in the Martial Institute, as well as the Heaven, Earth, and Human Institutes. The Enforcent Hall’s primary duty is to uphold the Sect’s rules. If anyone violates the rules and they have proof of the cri, they have the authority to deliver punishnt as prescribed by the rules, regardless of the offender’s background or status."
Long Chen nodded slightly upon hearing this. Given my situation, it seems I’ll be dealing with the Enforcent Hall a lot in the future.
"So it’s Senior Brother Yang. Long ti no see." Zhang Qianyu ca to his senses, casually tossing the broken sword on the ground as he greeted him with a cupped fist.
The leader of the group was indeed one of the Enforcent Hall’s stewards, Yang Xuan. He was five years older than Zhang Qianyu, and the two had known each other for so ti.
Yang Xuan nodded. "You can call
Senior Brother Yang in private, but for now, please address
as Steward Yang."
Zhang Qianyu glanced smugly at Long Chen, then said matter-of-factly, "Steward Yang, please forgive . I was ignorant of the rules."
"It’s fine. Tell
what happened here," Yang Xuan said, waving his hand.
Liu Bian’s brow furrowed. "Zhang Qianyu swung his sword at Senior Brother Long. I witnessed it with my own eyes, and I believe so of our fellow sect mbers here also saw it."
"Pure nonsense! If I had swung my sword at Long Chen, then why is he completely unhard?" Zhang Qianyu retorted disdainfully. "He’s just a country bumpkin from so poor little city, admitted to the Sect only yesterday. Could his Martial Arts Realm possibly be stronger than mine? I’m ranked eighth on the Martial Roll!
"Besides, did any of the fellow sect mbers present see it? The testimony of a Human Institute Disciple is inadmissible! After all, both Long Chen and Liu Bian are from the Human Institute!"
With that, Zhang Qianyu looked around at the many spectators. "Of course, to avoid any accusation that we Earth Institute disciples are colluding to give false testimony, our statents will be inadmissible as well!"
Yang Xuan looked at the disciples present. "Did any of the disciples from the Heaven Institute see what happened?"
"Didn’t see it."
"I didn’t see it either. I just got here."
At that, so of the Heaven Institute disciples present shook their heads, while others remained silent. A few simply watched on, as if enjoying a show. Clearly, so Heaven Institute disciples had seen everything, but they had no intention of stepping forward to testify. To them, getting involved was more trouble than it was worth. No one wanted to provoke Zhang Qianyu, ranked eighth on the Martial Roll, all for a new Human Institute Disciple who had just joined the Sect.
"His sword was broken by mine. Just compare the broken surfaces," Long Chen said, gesturing with his sword.
Upon hearing this, Zhang Qianyu burst into laughter. "Do you think Steward Yang can’t tell that the sword in your hand is a Pseudo Heavenly Soldier? You actually dare to claim your sword broke my Golden Sun Sword? How utterly laughable!
"Steward Yang, I don’t think there’s anything more to discuss. He’s slandering , and he must pay the price for it!"
Yang Xuan’s gaze flickered. He casually picked up the broken sword from the ground and spoke indifferently, "You’re Long Chen, right? Your claim is indeed baseless and difficult to believe. If you apologize to Zhang Qianyu right now, I will pretend nothing happened.
"Otherwise, I will charge you with slandering a fellow sect mber and attempting to use the Enforcent Hall to harm him, and you will be punished accordingly!"
