A pleasant outing, yet again spoiled by a farce.

Little Ye clearly hadn’t had her fill of fun.

So, the next day, Ye Fei could only accompany his daughter once more to the amusent park for another round.

It served as compensation to her.

By the afternoon, Ye Fei sent his daughter to his wife and went back to the clinic to look around.

The clinic was, as always, bustling with activity.

Ye Fei personally stepped in to help, which truly relieved much of the pressure.

During work, he noticed that the usually lively and diligent Li Nian was exceptionally out of sorts today.

She was sullen and distracted, obviously troubled by sothing on her mind.

So, when he had a mont, Ye Fei called Li Nian to his office to ask if she was feeling unwell.

But his asking seed to flip a switch, as Li Nian couldn’t control her emotions and burst into tears.

Ye Fei was taken aback and quickly handed her a tissue, comforting her, "Dr. Li, have you encountered so difficulty? Just speak up if there’s anything troubling you. I’ll definitely help if I can."

Li Nian couldn’t understand why, but looking at the gentle man before her, she felt as if she couldn’t hide any secret.

"My grandma, she might not make it."

Upon hearing this, Ye Fei understood.

Parting from life is the greatest pain in life.

Especially when it involves a loved one.

"Do you know what illness your grandmother has? Perhaps I might be able to help."

Li Nian wiped her tears and shook her head, "I appreciate your kind intentions, boss. I know you’re a skilled doctor, but my grandma’s condition is rather complicated. She’s ninety-three this year."

Ye Fei got it.

Li Nian’s grandmother wasn’t simply sick; it was a matter of natural aging.

Birth, aging, illness, and death are natural laws.

With his current abilities, Ye Fei wasn’t capable of reversing the course of nature and reviving the dead.

"How about this. Take a few days off to accompany your grandmother on her last journey. Don’t worry about the clinic for now," Ye Fei suggested.

Li Nian had intended to ask for leave anyway, so she nodded in agreent.

Just as she was about to leave, Ye Fei called out to her, "Which hospital is your grandmother in? I’ll accompany you to see her."

Li Nian turned back, "Grandma is in the intensive care unit at our own clinic."

"Oh? Then lead the way!"

As the boss, of course, he must show concern for his employees in every aspect.

Moreover, for such a dedicated and outstanding employee.

The two imdiately went to the special care ward.

In the ward, lying on the bed was an elderly lady, frail and barely clinging to life.

Several middle-aged n and won were also there, standing guard by her side.

After greeting each of them, Ye Fei approached the bed.

"Grandma, I’ve co to see you," Li Nian said with tears in her eyes, holding the old lady’s hand.

The grandmother saw her granddaughter and struggled to offer a kind smile.

"Li Nian, you’re here, my good girl."

Soon, she noticed the young man beside her granddaughter.

"This is..."

Li Nian almost forgot and hurriedly made introductions.

But the old lady was one step ahead, "If I’m not mistaken, he must be your boyfriend?"

The old lady suddenly seed much more spirited than before.

"Li Nian, Granny’s got to say, why did it take so long to bring your boyfriend to see ?"

With that, she gave Ye Fei a thorough once-over.

While examining him, she nodded slightly.

"Hmm. Hmm. Good, very good. He’s a handso young man with a noble bearing and an air of integrity. A fine match, my granddaughter has good taste!"

Li Nian was about to explain when Ye Fei stopped her with a look.

He didn’t want to dampen the spirits of the old woman who was close to departing this world.

So, Li Nian reluctantly dropped her head in silent assent.

"Young man, what is your na?"

"Ye Fei."

"Hmm!"

The old lady looked cheerfully for a while, then suddenly clasped Ye Fei and Li Nian’s hands together.

"Ye Fei, I don’t have much ti left. In the future, I’ll have to trouble you to take good care of my Li Nian. She’s too naive; you need to protect her well," she said.

"Granny, don’t worry, I will," Ye Fei promised with a nod.

Li Nian was already too overco with grief to speak.

The old lady’s children also turned away to wipe their tears in silence.

"Good children, good children!"

As the old lady smiled, her gaze suddenly lost focus.

Staring blankly at the ceiling, tears rolled down the corners of her eyes.

"Wei Guo, where are you? Didn’t you say you’d co back after this voyage?"

"You naughty child! Why don’t you keep your word!"

"Wei Guo, I miss you so much! I just want to hold your hand again, why won’t you let ?"

It was clear to everyone; the old lady was confused, nearing her last monts.

Her children began sobbing unrestrainedly.

Ye Fei could tell; the old lady still had unfulfilled wishes.

He quickly pulled Li Nian aside, "Who’s Wei Guo? Granny seems very fixated on this person."

Li Nian managed to speak through her tears, "Wei Guo is my third uncle. He went out to sea ten years ago and was caught in a storm, lost at sea. All these years, my parents have been deceiving Granny, saying that he rely disappeared and his body was never found. So Granny has been waiting; it beca an obsession."

"Since Granny got seriously ill, she has been longing for him more than ever. In truth, we all know that Granny’s been holding on because she can’t let go of my uncle. She’s hoping for a miracle at the last mont to see him one last ti."

"But how could that possibly happen? The truth has been hidden for so many years; can we really reveal it to her just before she dies? Ah, Granny’s life has been so hard."

It seed that Ye Fei had an idea, and he asked, "So you’re saying if Granny could see your uncle one last ti before she passes, her fixation would be resolved, and she would go peacefully. Is that right?"

Li Nian nodded.

"Alright, I might have a way," Ye Fei said.

"What way?"

"I can arrange a final eting between your uncle and Granny."

"What?!"

After her initial shock, Li Nian beca utterly disheartened.

"Boss, how can you joke at a ti like this?"

"I’m not joking. I’m serious," Ye Fei replied earnestly.
