The bride stood in front of the door.

A crowd of people stood behind the door.

Regarding each other, both were stunned.

Had the bride co alone?

Was this how a wedding was conducted?

Several old matrons hurriedly stepped forward to support the bride, busily asking, "Why has the bride co by herself? Where are her parents?"

The bride, with a red veil covering her face, was not clearly visible, but she simply nodded.

Her voice was clear and distant, "My parents are busy with business and couldn’t co."

This was the ti to worship heaven and earth, the ti to bow to both sets of parents.

And yet they were not there?

One old woman imdiately scolded, "What kind of people are these, who sends off their daughter like this? Is this how city people do it?"

Ye Shoutian was dazed for a long while before he finally snapped out of it.

The matter had co to this point, and the wedding was the priority.

Suddenly, he rembered sothing and asked his son, "Is she the right person? With this red veil over her head, her face is not clear. Is she your bride?"

Ye Shoutian had never seen the bride before.

Yet now, Ye An stood there in a daze, unable to move a step upon seeing the bride.

He gazed idiotically at the bride’s silhouette, his eyes lacking in spirit, almost drooling.

"Idiot!"

Ye Shoutian gave his disappointing son a slap, and then he angrily entered the courtyard.

The crowd escorted the bride to the center of the courtyard, where she first paid her respects to the county magistrate and Ye Fei.

In the hearts of everyone present, Ye Fei was now considered as important as the county magistrate.

The bride obediently paid her respects, clasping her hands and bowing slightly.

The county magistrate, Qian Dao’an, was completely unconcerned, wearing a smile that passed for courteous.

But at this mont, Ye Fei always felt that sothing was not quite right.

The girl before him felt familiar.

He usually rembered the people he knew well, but although he was certain he had not seen this girl before, sothing nagged at him.

He should have t her sowhere.

But he could never recall where.

Ye Shoutian, seeing that everyone was becoming anxious, directly said, "Us country folks don’t need so much pomp for a wedding!"

"Since the county magistrate is here today, and he governs our region, acting as our provider, why doesn’t he stand in as the bride’s family today? No objections, right?"

"None whatsoever, it’s quite fitting!"

The crowd cheered, thinking highly of the Ye Family’s clout.

Qian Dao’an still wore his professional smile, but inside he was utterly speechless.

Why doesn’t anyone ask for my opinion?

But with Ye Fei present, he did not feel it was right to refuse, so he just sat down on a chair.

The groom’s parents also took their seats.

Both mbers of the newlywed couple approached the front.

However, the bride was silent and still, while the groom’s face was flushed with an idiotic look.

The onlookers whispered among themselves, thinking they were truly a matched pair, a perfect match!

"First bow to heaven and earth!"

"Second bow to the high hall!"

"Bride and groom bow to each other!"

The village elders’ voices were robust, and the ceremony quickly concluded.

However, when it was ti for the bride and groom to bow to each other, Ye Fei’s expression suddenly changed.

The mont the bride lowered her head, Ye Fei caught a glimpse of her cheek beneath the veil.

That face.

He shouldn’t have recognized it.

But Ye Fei found it strikingly familiar.

The bride stood up as if nothing had happened.

But Ye Fei felt that sothing was off.

Starry eyes turned!

Ye Fei was determined to see who this woman was!

However, in the next mont,

He felt a great sense of foreboding!

His starry eyes were unexpectedly unable to penetrate the thin veil!

These eyes of his were mighty, capable of piercing through almost everything.

And now, they couldn’t see through a re veil?

It was simply inconceivable!

Sothing was wrong!

Trouble had risen!

Ye Fei clenched his fist suddenly, but he felt the surrounding spiritual energy was thin, as if it had been drained.

And his own strength was gradually weakening.

This little mountain village, at this mont, seed like an imnse formation, suppressing his cultivation!

With a cold gaze towards the bride, Ye Fei seed to sense that the girl was smiling at him through the veil.

Chilling.

As if it ca from the depths of the underworld.

For the first ti, Ye Fei had an unsettling feeling.

Seeing that the ritual was complete, Ye Shoutian’s heart finally relaxed.

He rose to his feet and announced, "Everyone, eat and drink well, the Ye Family will host you all properly today!"

A box of wedding candies was handed to the bride.

Her fair and delicate hand grasped a handful and slowly scattered the sweets.

Children sward up, crowding at the bride’s feet, frantically snatching up the candy.

Ye An still looked foolish, grinning endlessly at the bride, saliva slipping from the corner of his mouth.

As nightfall approached, the crowd gradually dispersed.

It was ti to retire to the bridal chamber.

Ye Fei understood that this simple-minded youngster, Ye An, had been controlled.

But...

When had it happened?

Was it when they first t?

If this was all a setup, it had been in place for far too long.

Su Yueru ca to Ye Fei’s side, seeing her husband with a worried brow, she too realized sothing was amiss.

Otherwise, when had Ye Fei ever worried about anything?

"What’s wrong?" Su Yueru asked softly.

Ye Fei calmly said, "There is sothing off about the bride."

Su Yueru laughed, "What could be wrong, could she be a demon? Could she eat up Ye An?"

"Worse than that."

With that sudden statent, Su Yueru was no longer composed.

After hesitating for a long while, she did not press further; she trusted Ye Fei more than she trusted herself.

Su Yueru took Ye Fei’s hand.

"The ship will straighten itself when it reaches the bridge, everything will be alright."
