Chapter 99: Chapter 98 The Demon Emperor is Not Dead
In a secret base, a group of researchers was treating a man’s injuries. This man was the Demon Emperor, and at that mont, he was completely healed.
He looked reborn, yet he had beco terrifying, like a mutated human exuding an aura of despair. He was undoubtedly more fearso than before.
His eyes were blood-red. In an instant, he slaughtered all the people who had transford him.
Genetic modification. This was a secret experint developed by the Demon Emperor himself, designed to alter a person’s genes and make them stronger.
He had clearly succeeded.
With a mocking tone, he said, "King of Heaven, once my genes fully awaken, your end will co. Our war is far from over—it has only just begun!"
"HAHAHAHA!"
He laughed arrogantly, his heart completely unmoved as he gazed at the corpses. Genetic modification was a high-risk procedure that required imnse endurance to withstand. Once the transformation was complete, slaughter was the only option. He didn’t want this technology getting out, and the only way to ensure that was to kill everyone involved.
He then entered another room, where a person lay inside a crystal coffin. It was Yu’er.
Yu’er was in a deep slumber from which it seed she would never awaken. Gazing at the tranquil Yu’er, the Demon Emperor wept. His tears fell onto the crystal coffin, creating a poignant scene.
He said to her, "I’m so sorry, Yu’er. It’s because of
that you are trapped in this eternal sleep. But rest assured, I won’t let you sleep for long. I will do everything in my power to save you."
"I will kill the King of Heaven to avenge you. He is as good as dead!"
For so reason, even after saying these words, the Demon Emperor continued to cry. It was the first ti he had ever cried, the first ti he had wept for a woman.
As if sensing his sorrow, Yu’er, deep in her slumber, shed a tear from the corner of her eye.
The Demon Emperor turned to the researchers in charge and commanded, "I am entering seclusion. Keep this place under control. If anything happens to her, you will answer with your heads!"
"Yes!"
The doctors trembled with fear. They were well aware of the Demon Emperor’s terrifying nature, but curing Yu’er seed an impossible task.

Ye Fan arrived at the Ye Family residence. The family was on the verge of becoming a super-clan. Though they weren’t one yet, no one dared to underestimate them. This was because the family had produced the remarkable Ye Fan, the King of Heaven who had even defeated the Demon Emperor. For this reason, despite not being a super-clan, the Ye Family’s strength was definitely greater than one.
Today, both Ye Tiannan and Mrs. Jiang wore grave expressions.
"What’s wrong?" Ye Fan asked, wondering why his parents looked so troubled. Had a problem arisen?
Ye Tiannan said, "Your brother has disappeared."
"Disappeared?" Ye Fan asked.
"Yes," Mrs. Jiang said. "We haven’t received a call from him in days. I feel like he’s intentionally avoiding us!"
Mrs. Jiang’s words stirred no emotion in Ye Fan, who quite disliked this brother of his, even though they were related by blood.
However, just as she finished speaking, a car pulled up, and Ye Langfeng stepped out. He seed much more composed now. He faced his parents and said, "Mom, Dad, I was wrong."
Then, turning to Ye Fan, he added, "Big Brother, I was wrong."
All three of them were stunned. Could it be that Ye Langfeng has truly co to his senses and decided to turn over a new leaf? From the looks of it, that seed to be the case.
His parents were elated, and even Ye Qingshan was pleased. After all, Ye Langfeng had left a terrible impression on them before, so his sudden change of heart was a welco developnt.
However, one person believed Ye Langfeng wasn’t so simple. That person was Ye Fan. I’ve always been a good judge of character. Even though Ye Langfeng appears to have had a change of heart, who knows what he’s really plotting? I can’t let my guard down. But since he hasn’t slipped up, I won’t say anything. If I stir up more resentnt, it would only create discord within the family.
After a reunion dinner with the Ye Family, Ye Fan prepared to leave.
Although the family unanimously wanted him to beco the Ye Family Patriarch, that was not what he desired. He had his own forces and his own organization; becoming the head of the Ye Family was not his goal or ambition.
Ye Qingshan said to him, "It’s alright. Co back to Shangjing whenever you have ti. This will always be your ho!"
"Uh-huh!" Ye Fan nodded.
Mrs. Jiang added, "It’s fine. Shangjing isn’t that far from Jiangning, anyway. I’ll co visit you in Jiangning in a while!"
Ye Tiannan had already left early in the morning for military matters.
Just then, Ye Langfeng said to him, "Take care, Big Brother. I used to covet the position of Family Head, but I don’t dare to think about it anymore. If it fell into my hands, I might lead the Ye Family to ruin!"
"Good. I’m glad you understand that," Ye Fan replied. "Still, you should continue to train hard. Strive to lead the Ye Family to glory one day!"
"Don’t worry, Big Brother. I will!" Ye Langfeng said respectfully.
The more flawless his act beca, the more suspicious Ye Fan grew. But suspicion was all he had. As long as Ye Langfeng made no move, he had no evidence against him.
After leaving the Ye Family, Ye Fan didn’t rush back. Instead, he went to the Qin Family residence. He felt a deep reluctance to leave Qin Yanran. He had once thought their connection was just a aningless fling at a bar, but he never expected it to blossom into such a fateful bond.
This truly has to be the work of fate. I just have to take things as they co. Since Heaven arranged for us to et at this ti, our story is bound to beco even more fascinating. I’m actually looking forward to it. I feel like a wanderer at heart. From my early days as a beggar, to the trials of the Dragon Group, and then to my peak on the South Arica Battlefield. After the peace of Jiangning and returning to my roots in Shangjing, I still feel uncertain about where I should go, about where my final destination lies. But contrary to that, I’m growing fonder of Jiangning. For example, after spending so ti in Shangjing, I’m already starting to miss it again. Perhaps I’m simply destined to wander. I know my journey and the dangers I face are far from over. There’s the vanished Demon Emperor, my enemies overseas, and the Divine Dragon from whom I must reclaim my dignity. The tasks ahead are daunting and seem almost impossible, but I have absolute confidence. Not for any other reason, but because I am the King of Heaven. As the King of Heaven, I am destined to soar, not to lie dormant forever.
When Ye Fan arrived at the Qin Family’s house, Qin Yanran was lying in his arms. "Are you leaving?" she asked.
"Pretty much," Ye Fan replied. "Jiangning is my second ho, after all. My forces are there, and it’s where I’m making my new start."
"Okay. I’ll co find you in a few months!" Qin Yanran said.
Ye Fan nodded. The Qin Family had risen from adversity, and Qin Yanran herself had taken over many of their industries, making her the most powerful person of her generation in the family. This wasn’t surprising, as she had an extraordinary man backing her—Ye Fan, a man no one dared to underestimate. Her power grew because the Qin Family could not afford to lose its connection to him.
"I’ll be waiting for you in Jiangning," Ye Fan said.
Qin Yanran was deeply content with her life. Now, there was nothing standing between her and Ye Fan. They could et whenever they wished; they just had their own affairs to attend to first.
That night, they enjoyed another romantic evening together. The next day, it was ti for Ye Fan to leave.
But just then, to Ye Fan’s dismay, Qin ngyao also erged, carrying a backpack. This left him at a loss.
He asked her, "ngyao, what are you doing?"
