Chapter 441: Chapter 440: Hard-won Victory
Ye Fan comforted him, "Focus on recovering. Don’t let this setback crush you. Black Fog, I need you, and the Heavenly King Hall needs you."
"Mhm!" Black Fog replied with a firm nod.
Ye Fan ordered his n to clean up the battlefield. He knew their victory was entirely thanks to the beast tide; without the horde’s assault, the Heavenly King Hall would have been utterly defeated. The beasts had already dispersed, leaving with the people from the Iceberg Tribe. Ye Fan didn’t ask them to stay, as there was too much to handle in the aftermath.
With the multi-faction coalition having finally destroyed the Divine Dragon, an imnse sense of relief washed over Ye Fan. His so-called enemies had finally received their just deserts.
Just then, he saw a figure standing on the mountain and hurried over. The mbers of the Heavenly King Hall had no idea what he was doing, but they never questioned the actions of their leader.
Ye Fan was in bad shape, his injuries severe.
When he reached the mountaintop, he was surprised to find Heather there. He hadn’t expected her to co.
"You’re injured!" she said.
"These are just minor wounds, nothing to worry about!" Ye Fan insisted, though in truth, every wound was severe. After all, the one who had inflicted them was the Master of the Grey Dragon, who was no ordinary individual.
"Thank you," Ye Fan said with a smile. He hadn’t expected Heather to co all the way from Europe to help. He hadn’t asked the Vampire Clan for aid, so he assud they wouldn’t get involved.
"Don’t ntion it," Heather said. "There were two others who wanted to stop this war, but they’ve already left."
At her words, Ye Fan knew who she ant. It must have been that Zhuang Zhou fellow again. Those people seem to have a real problem with !
Heather continued, "Your enemy has been eliminated. It seems it wouldn’t have made a difference whether I was here or not."
That’s not true at all, Ye Fan thought. Without her, I never would have gotten my revenge. Her presence made a huge difference.
He replied, "I couldn’t have done it without you!"
"Can we find a place to talk alone?" Heather asked him.
"Of course!" Ye Fan replied with a smile.
The two found a secluded spot as the sun began to set. Watching the fading light fill the sky, Ye Fan felt a sense of peace.
"You’re in a very dangerous situation," Heather said.
"You can’t be serious?" Ye Fan was speechless. How could he be in danger? His greatest enemy, the Divine Dragon, had been annihilated. What enemies could be left?
But Heather explained, "The European Church Court is making a major move. In their quest to annihilate our Vampire Clan, they may invade the Divine Land."
"If they dare to co, I’ll make sure they never leave!" Ye Fan retorted. The European Church Court had indeed invaded the Shenzhou Underground World once before but were driven out by the great power who ruled the Divine Land at that ti. It seed their ambitions had not died.
"The European Church Court’s ambition is vast," Heather warned. "They have been plotting to rule the world for a long ti. Their ambitions are even greater now, so you must be careful."
"When are they planning to move against the Vampire Clan?" Ye Fan asked.
The European Church Court’s greatest enemy was the Vampire Clan, so they would definitely target them first. This connected with what Scarlett had told him before. He felt that the European Church Court was becoming increasingly arrogant, though they certainly had the power to back it up. Globally speaking, they were practically unrivaled.
"We have been fighting continuously," Heather said. "However, the European Church Court will not find it easy to defeat the Vampire Clan. They might try to control the Eastern Martial Arts World first, then use it to encircle us."
"If they dare to co, then I’ll be waiting for them!" Ye Fan’s voice was full of confidence.
"Just be careful," Heather said. "I’m hungry."
She looked at him with deep affection.
What am I supposed to do? Ye Fan wondered. But she said she’s hungry, so I can’t very well refuse her.
"Go ahead," he said, offering his neck, waiting for her to drink his blood. His blood held an irresistible allure for any martial artist who fed on it.
But Heather simply stepped forward and kissed him.
Ye Fan was stunned that she hadn’t drunk his blood. Overco by her seduction, his courage flared, and he and Heather, the Vampire Queen, tumbled together in a passionate frenzy.
An unknown amount of ti passed before Heather finally left.
Ye Fan was left in a daze. The encounter was so intense that I can barely rember any of it, he thought with a helpless sigh. Next ti, I won’t be so hasty, he vowed.
The sky was now completely dark. With a hint of reluctance, he made his way back from the mountain.
"Damn!"
Ye Fan froze. Alice and the Dark Night Demon Queen were standing there, staring at him.
"My dears, what are you doing here?" he asked awkwardly.
"Who are you calling your ’dears’? Watch your words!" the Dark Night Demon Queen snapped.
Ye Fan gave an awkward smile. He was used to won like them, whose words were sharp but whose hearts were soft.
It was Alice who spoke. "You were gone for two hours, and I just saw a Western woman getting up from where you were. You can’t tell
nothing suspicious was going on."
"Shaless!" the Dark Night Demon Queen added with disdain.
Ye Fan was speechless. That was romance, not sothing shaless! He had no idea what to say.
The next mont, he threw his arms around both their shoulders and started walking forward.
"Let go of !"
"Pervert!"
The two won struggled, but it was futile. Wielding supre power over the world isn’t really living, he thought. But to lie drunk on a beautiful woman’s lap... now that’s life!
Ye Fan and the others headed ho. News of his battle with the Divine Dragon spread like wildfire throughout the Divine Land, shocking the martial arts community once again. They couldn’t believe that the Killing God of the Divine Land had accomplished another unthinkable feat so soon after destroying the Mo Sect. They wondered what other insane things this nearly invincible man was capable of.
But Ye Fan knew he was far from invincible. In fact, his victory over the Divine Dragon had only increased the pressure on him.
One day, Ye Fan went out alone. He carried a box in his left hand and several bottles of fine wine in his right. He arrived before a field of desolate graves.
Only he knew of this place; not even those closest to him were aware of it. This place belonged only to the man he once was. I swore I would never return until I had my revenge, he rembered. I thought it would take ten, maybe twenty years. I might have never been able to co back at all.
Yet here he was, only a few short years later.
Life is fleeting, and a few years can feel like a lifeti. Before, he had lacked even the courage to look upon this place. Now, facing it again, his heart filled with sorrow.
Indeed, this was the final resting place of his brothers—his forr subordinates from his ti in the Divine Dragon. They were the ones who had died protecting him as he escaped.
And among them was the woman he had loved most: Leng Yue, once the most dazzling woman in the Divine Dragon.
Yet this most dazzling woman had chosen to die for him.
An indescribable bitterness filled Ye Fan’s heart.
