Chapter 281: Chapter 280 Gathering Intelligence

"Look into my eyes!" Miyaji Aoi suddenly commanded.

The martial artist looked at her. In the blink of an eye, she unleashed her signature charm technique, instantly bewitching him.

"You must let us in," Miyaji Aoi said hypnotically.

"Yes!"

The bewitched martial artist finally stood aside. Nangong’s clenched fist loosened; clearly, he had been ready to act if the man had refused.

After successfully passing the first checkpoint of the secret base, Miyaji Aoi grew even calr. Although she was frantic on the inside, she maintained a carefree exterior. Nangong played his part as her subordinate perfectly. Coordinating with her, they passed the third checkpoint. Now, only the final one remained.

There, the structural diagrams for Musashi Mountain, Japan’s forbidden area, were stored. This was what Miyaji Aoi had co for. When they arrived at the final checkpoint, they found themselves in the key location where Musashi Mountain’s most important information was kept, and where security was strictest. Fortunately, Miyaji Aoi had been here before, so she was relatively familiar with the layout.

At this mont, she was sifting through the archives. There were tens of thousands of scrolls here, and Miyaji Aoi searched diligently, following Ye Fan’s orders to find the defense diagrams and any records regarding the Nine-tailed Demon Fox. She found the records of the Nine-tailed Demon Fox, but the defense diagrams for Musashi Mountain were nowhere to be seen.

Ti was running out. Once the period of relaxed security ended, she would be in grave danger. Because of this, Miyaji Aoi began to feel anxious.

A short while later, she found the defense diagrams for Musashi Mountain at the very top of the great hall of records. Just as she reached for them, she suddenly froze. Her entire body tensed as her expression turned grim.

Miyaji Aoi stared at the person before her as if facing a mortal enemy. Her face turned pale, for she alone knew just how terrifying this man was.

Takahashi Ryota.

He was the top expert under the Shadow Stream Master, a warrior of the King-level Realm. Miyaji Aoi was no match for him; she didn’t even have the courage to try. She quickly spoke respectfully in Japanese, "General Takahashi!"

Takahashi Ryota spoke, his voice cold. "Miyaji Aoi, what is that in your hand?"

"Just so docunts, information I need to carry out my orders," Miyaji Aoi lied.

But Takahashi Ryota continued, "You’ve been absent from our rosters for nearly half a year. Where were you? Don’t tell

you were on a mission this entire ti." His gaze was fixed on her, pinning her with imnse pressure.

Miyaji Aoi calmly replied, "General Takahashi, half a year ago, I was sent to assassinate a master. I was seriously injured in the attempt and forced to flee. I’ve spent the last six months recovering and have only recently returned to the organization."

"Is that so? I heard you joined the Heavenly King Hall. The Heavenly King Hall is the sworn enemy of our Japan Musashi Sect. You can’t be unaware of that, can you?" Takahashi Ryota said icily.

"You don’t believe , General Takahashi?" Miyaji Aoi asked.

"I only trust the killing blade in my hand," Takahashi Ryota said, drawing his katana and pointing it at her. "I know you’re a spy sent by the Heavenly King Hall. Hand over the docunts, or I’ll kill you. This is your last chance."

Takahashi Ryota looked as though he was about to strike.

Miyaji Aoi slowly lowered the docunts in her hand. A smug look crossed Takahashi Ryota’s face. Suddenly, she moved, snatching a different scroll and darting for the exit.

"Blood Blade!"

Takahashi Ryota unleashed a slash of Sword Qi. It struck Miyaji Aoi’s shoulder, and she cried out as a mist of blood erupted from the wound. She collapsed to the floor as Takahashi Ryota bore down on her, swinging his katana toward her forehead in a killing blow. The blade was unnervingly strange, suffused with the aura of death.

This is it. Miyaji Aoi knew her death was certain. She closed her eyes, silently awaiting death’s arrival.

Suddenly, a tyrannical force surged forward, forcing Takahashi Ryota to retreat rapidly. When he steadied himself, he realized the man before him was incredibly strong. The aura emanating from him told him this was a formidable opponent.

It was Nangong.

He pulled Miyaji Aoi to her feet. "Hurry and go! I’ll handle things here!"

"But—" Miyaji Aoi was afraid Nangong wouldn’t be a match for Takahashi Ryota alone.

Nangong declared, "A re brat from Japan with a katana. He’s beneath my notice. The Chief’s information is more important!"

"Okay!" Miyaji Aoi nodded and quickly scrambled to escape.

At that mont, Takahashi Ryota attacked again. He knew he absolutely could not let Miyaji Aoi leave with those docunts. The only way to stop her was to kill the man in front of him, and quickly.

Nangong sneered, "Pathetic!"

"Fu Hu!" he bellowed, unleashing a domineering power from within his body that charged toward Takahashi Ryota.

Takahashi Ryota’s bizarre katana was already swinging in for the kill. But Nangong caught the blade, impossibly stopping it bare-handed with his dense True Qi. Takahashi Ryota felt as if his katana was seized by an unseen force.

"Is playing with weapons all you know?" Nangong taunted.

With a powerful wrench, he snapped the katana.

CRACK!

Takahashi Ryota was stunned, but Nangong had already thrown a punch.

BANG!

The blow sent Takahashi Ryota flying backward. He landed half-kneeling on the ground, coughing up mouthfuls of blood. He watched Nangong warily, never having anticipated that his opponent’s strength would be so formidable, so overpowering that he was completely unable to resist. It was a terrifying level of power.

"Shadow Clone!"

Takahashi Ryota suddenly split into several figures, all of which rushed toward Nangong. It was a technique of misdirection, designed to overwhelm an opponent. No matter how strong a man was, while he might fend off a few clones, he could not possibly stop them all. As long as the true body landed a single blow, the attack would succeed.

At this, Nangong shouted, "Mirror Flower Water Moon Technique!"

The Mirror Flower Water Moon Technique was a unique art of the hidden sects, allowing one to see the truest reality through the deepest illusion. This was its very essence. Finally, he saw through the deception to Takahashi Ryota’s true form. With a great swing of his hand, he chopped down.

"AH!"

A scream tore from Takahashi Ryota’s lips as Nangong severed one of his arms. Gritting his teeth against the pain, Takahashi Ryota used his left hand to pick up a short blade. The core tenet of the Musashi Sect was to never retreat and fight until the very end. Though grievously wounded, he gathered his remaining strength and charged at Nangong once more.

"I’ve had enough," Nangong said. "I’m not wasting any more ti on you."

He moved, his expression utterly serious as he rushed to et Takahashi Ryota. Helpless, Takahashi Ryota swung his short blade, hoping to inflict a severe wound before he died, or perhaps even take Nangong down with him.

BANG!

Nangong’s fist struck Takahashi Ryota’s chest, shattering his heart in an instant. A mont later, Nangong severed his head.

With a wild laugh, Nangong ran out of the hall. In the wake of their battle, the docunts were either destroyed or scattered everywhere. He was tempted to charge straight up Musashi Mountain, but Ye Fan had instructed him not to act so blindly, so he abandoned the idea.

Soon, Nangong caught up with Miyaji Aoi. She was struggling against a group of Japanese Martial Artists from the Musashi Sect, her body covered in several new wounds. Just when she thought she couldn’t escape, Nangong arrived. He landed among them with a domineering presence.

"Get lost if you don’t want to die!" he roared, tossing Takahashi Ryota’s head onto the ground.

Instantly, the Japanese Martial Artists gasped. It was their commander! In their minds, his status was second only to the Shadow Stream Master himself. To see him die so miserably was an absolutely staggering shock.
