Chapter 278: Chapter 277: Returning to the Sect Sword

However, Ye Fan was not afraid in the slightest. "You’re locked in chains," he said indifferently. "Do you really have the ability to stop ?"

"Once you’re here, you can’t escape, hahaha!" the man covered in filth laughed wildly.

At that mont, Ye Fan raised his guard. Sure enough, countless stone doors fell from above, sealing the entire space shut. He had not expected such a sudden turn of events.

"Now, how confident are you about getting out?" the man asked mockingly.

"Hmph! One hundred percent!" Ye Fan retorted.

He then punched the stone door. It trembled but did not crack, let alone shatter. This developnt profoundly shocked Ye Fan. He delivered three consecutive punches, none of which broke open the stone door. Instead, his hand began to ache, though the pain did not affect him in the slightest.

"Kid, stop wasting your energy. You’ve reached the Ghost Gate. You’ll die trapped here, and only then will you realize that death is the sweetest release!

"You’ll even be begging

to eat you! Haha!" he cackled at Ye Fan.

Ye Fan asked, "What is this place? And how did you get trapped here?" He remained as calm as the breeze, speaking in his usual tone.

"You seem quite composed, but that doesn’t an you won’t despair. Usually, I wouldn’t reveal so many secrets to a dying man," the man said. "But since I find you sowhat agreeable, I don’t mind telling you! This is an Abyss Prison, designed for Martial Artists."

"Abyss Prison?" Ye Fan’s curiosity was piqued again.

Who is being banished? Questions swirled in his mind, one after another.

"People who commit unforgivable cris are imprisoned on this specially-made vessel that is like an abyss unto itself, incarcerated for eternity with no chance for salvation!" the man explained.

"What grave misdeed did you commit? And who imprisoned you here?" Ye Fan inquired.

"Got any liquor?" The man did not answer, rely flashing a grin at Ye Fan.

Ye Fan took out a jug of liquor, opened it, brought it close, and fed it to him. This man had been imprisoned here for so many years that he reeked horribly, but Ye Fan patiently held the jug until he had drunk the entire thing.

"Good liquor, truly good liquor! This stuff packs a punch. I’ve never had anything this strong," the man said heartily. "It might not taste great, but for , the potency is all that matters!"

Ye Fan smiled. The liquor he carried was a dicinal wine he had specially brewed using a unique thod. Not only was its flavor pure, but it also possessed healing properties.

"Seeing as you gave

a jug of good liquor, I’ll tell you my story," the man continued. "I was a disciple of a Hidden Sect. Through my own hard work, I forged my own path in the Martial Arts. I progressed from a regular disciple to an Inner Sect Disciple, and then ascended to the rank of Elite Disciple!

"Then what?" Ye Fan prompted.

"At that ti, my junior sister and I were in love and had secretly pledged ourselves to one another. But she was the number one beauty of our Hidden Sect! Her station in life was fated to be a trying one, as the Sect Leader intended to marry her off to his son, the foremost among us Elite Disciples, Wang Jie!

"I was furious, but my strength was not enough to confront them. I planned to run away with my junior sister, but she knew all too well how powerful the Hidden Sect was! She knew that if we ran away together, we would never escape their clutches. For my sake, she chose to endure it.

"During one of our secret trysts, we were caught by Wang Jie. Right before my very eyes, he killed my junior sister with a single sword strike. At that mont, my heart filled with despair, and I recklessly charged at him to fight to the death!

"Regrettably, my strength was still far too weak, and he kicked

down into a bottomless abyss!

"I thought my life was over, but unexpectedly, I didn’t die. For thirty years I endured that cruel environnt, accompanied only by darkness and cold! There, I withstood constant physical torture and the agony of losing my love.

"Those were the darkest years of my life. I never imagined that not only would I survive, but I would also achieve a breakthrough.

"After my breakthrough, the first thing I did was avenge my junior sister. I stord the Hidden Sect. Even though Wang Jie was a prodigy, he was nothing more than a pampered hothouse flower!

"After hundreds of rounds, I killed him. But then, the Sect Leader grievously injured , and I lost all my strength. He severed the tendons in my arms and legs, leaving

a cripple!

"They imprisoned

forever on this specially crafted ship, laid down an array, and then exiled . I was left to drift eternally upon the sea, suffering brutal torture.

"I don’t know how long I’ve been on this ghost ship. All I know is that countless fools have recklessly wandered in here only to lose their lives forever. And now, you’re the next one!"

He stared at Ye Fan incessantly, sizing up what seed to be his soon-to-be-dead prey—or perhaps, his food.

Unfortunately for him, Ye Fan remained perfectly calm.

Looking at the fearless Ye Fan, the man suddenly laughed. "Considering you gave

a jug of liquor and were willing to listen to my story, I’ve decided not to eat you. I’ll even tell you how to get out!"

"Oh? There’s a way out?" Ye Fan asked curiously.

Then, Ye Fan chuckled. "Didn’t you want to eat ? Why would you let

go now?"

"A jug of liquor is enough to compensate

for not eating you. Besides, you might not make it out. There’s only a one percent chance! That ans there’s a ninety-nine percent chance you’ll still end up as my al!" the man cackled.

At that, Ye Fan asked, "So what is the way out?"

"Do you see that wheel in front of you? There are one hundred beads on it, surrounded by one hundred doors of various sizes. But if you touch any bead on the wheel, the wheel itself will shatter!" he explained. "Plus, you only have one chance. Among the hundred doors, only one is the Gate of Life. Simply put, you get one shot, but the odds are extrely slim."

Suddenly, Ye Fan said, "Actually, it’s not that complicated!"

"Oh?" The man looked at Ye Fan with great curiosity.

At that mont, Ye Fan took out his Yuanhong Sword.

HUM!

The silver blade humd, as if Yuanhong were unleashing the might of its legacy as the pre-Qin Sword of Slaughter!

Ye Fan gathered his True Qi and shouted, "Returning to the Sect Sword!"

In an instant, countless streams of Sword Qi surged forth. The murderous aura sliced through the air, filling the surroundings with a suffocating, deadly presence that seed to overshadow everything.

Even the man was shocked. He had not expected Ye Fan to possess such a powerful killer move.

Returning to the Sect Sword was the move with the strongest killing intent in Ye Fan’s self-created Cross and Diagonal Sword Technique, and also its most powerful. Though it had flaws, Ye Fan was constantly refining it.

BOOM!

The Returning to the Sect Sword struck, and the once-unyielding wall instantly shattered.

As the stone door burst apart, Ye Fan declared, "It’s broken!"

The man’s jaw dropped in astonishnt, completely caught off guard by this unexpected outco.

At that mont, Ye Fan glanced at the man and said indifferently, "I can save you.

"But you must serve

for three years!"

He valued this man’s strength. Although the man’s ridians were severed, Ye Fan could heal him. A person like this would be a powerful ally by his side.

Previously, Black Fog had been his strongest support. With this man, however, that support would be elevated by more than a single tier. After all, at his peak, this man possessed Emperor Level strength.
