Chapter 23: Chapter 22: The Mantis Stalks the Chariot

"How pathetic. You try to kill

without even knowing who I am," Ye Fan said. "But while you may not know , I know exactly who you are! You’re Killer Yama, famous for your silent killings. However, your fa doesn’t match your actual strength.

"Just a short while ago, your two disciples, the Twin Assassins, also died at my hands. Now with you, we’ve got a nice, round number!"

Ye Fan’s words made Takasaki Ryosuke’s hair stand on end. Black Tiger lost his composure as well, but in the next mont, Ye Fan charged forward with the broken shard of a blade. In the blink of an eye, a spray of fresh blood arched through the night air.

Takasaki Ryosuke’s voice trembled. "You’re the... the King of Heaven!"

"A pity you only realize it now," Ye Fan declared disdainfully. "It’s far too late."

The next instant, Takasaki Ryosuke collapsed silently to the ground, killed in a single move.

The remaining mbers of the Black Tiger Society were the most terrified of all. They lost their composure, thinking their numbers would give them an advantage over Ye Fan, but sotis, a nurical advantage only leads to a more thorough defeat.

Ye Fan turned to Black Tiger. "Your turn."

Black Tiger and Leopard stood rooted to the spot. Facing him was like confronting Hell itself; they couldn’t summon even a sliver of courage to resist.

Then, with a hard shake, Black Tiger regained so of his willpower. "Your strength is beyond my imagination!" he said to Ye Fan. "From now on, let’s stay out of each other’s way. If you insist on a fight, my Black Tiger Society’s thousands of mbers are not to be underestimated!"

Black Tiger was backing down. With his master dead, he had no choice but to capitulate. He was looking for a way to save face, and this was the perfect opportunity to do so.

However, Ye Fan retorted, "You bunch of nuisances. It’s bad enough that you obstruct

on a regular basis, but to acknowledge a Japanese Martial Artist as your master! You have disgraced the Divine Land! Today, I will thoroughly eradicate you—the very dregs of the Divine Land!"

"Hmph! Do you think we’re afraid of you?" The two hundred mbers of the Black Tiger Society surrounded Ye Fan.

Ye Fan sneered. "Like a mantis trying to stop a chariot, you’re hopelessly out of your depth. Rember my identity, for it will be the last thing you ever know. I am the King of Heaven! You’ve angered the King of Heaven, and the price is death!"

"The... the King of Heaven!"

Black Tiger nearly fainted from terror. Of all those present, only he truly knew how terrifying the King of Heaven was—a King whose na struck fear across the entire world. This was sothing the recently deceased Takasaki Ryosuke had told him.

"Brothers, stop him!" Black Tiger commanded. As a group of n surged forward to attack, Black Tiger took the opportunity to flee. That was right. Facing the King of Heaven, he knew these two hundred n were just fodder; even ten tis their number would be useless.

Leopard, still bitter about being sent flying by Ye Fan’s earlier blow, took the initiative and charged. A group of n followed, swarming Ye Fan, thinking they had a chance to strike.

This ti, however, Ye Fan’s fist struck Leopard directly over the heart. Instantly, a hole was punched straight through his chest. Leopard looked at Ye Fan in disbelief before collapsing heavily to the ground, dead in an instant.

Slain in a single move. The rest ca charging, their blades striking Ye Fan only to be t with a tallic clang. The Mountain Opening Sabers in their hands shattered, leaving Ye Fan completely unhard. As the King of Heaven, his overall combat ability—including his physical toughness—ranked first among the four Kings of the world.

They stared at Ye Fan in astonishnt as he picked up a fallen Mountain Opening Saber and began to cut through them. Wherever he went, bodies littered the ground. It was a terrifying sight. The wrath of the King of Heaven was a bloody storm that few could endure.

Ye Fan’s main target wasn’t these n, but the fleeing Black Tiger. Hampered by the chaotic crowd, Black Tiger hadn’t gotten far before the unstoppable Ye Fan was upon him. Fear had already seized his heart.

He reached Shen Zhe and Young Master Ji. They were both terrified by Ye Fan’s aura because at this mont, he wasn’t a man, but a demon—a murderous fiend.

Seeing Ye Fan catching up, Black Tiger grabbed Young Master Ji and Shen Zhe, one in each hand, and hurled them toward Ye Fan.

"Don’t!" The two cried out in terror, but in the next mont, Ye Fan’s saber sliced through them. The two young masters, once so prominent, were now dismbered.

Black Tiger finally managed to escape the crowd. Just as he thought he was ho free, he found that Ye Fan had sohow already appeared before him. An expression of utter despair washed over his face.

With a trembling voice, he pleaded, "King of Heaven, spare my life, and I’ll follow you!"

"You are not worthy." Ye Fan imdiately swung his saber. Black Tiger collapsed in fear, unable to believe, even at the mont of his death, how the Black Tiger Society and all its n could have been defeated so swiftly by a single person. It had all happened unbelievably fast.

Hiding in the bushes, Su Qingxue fainted from fright. She had never witnessed such a bloody and violent scene before; it was an utterly inhumane massacre. Her tolerance for such things was low, and she imdiately passed out.

Ye Fan stood ramrod straight amidst the carnage. Black Tiger, Leopard, and the other leaders of the Black Tiger Society had all been slain, leaving the one hundred and fifty-odd remaining mbers at a complete loss.

"Scram," Ye Fan said, "or you’ll end up just like them!"

At his words, the thought of escape filled their minds.

However, one of them shouted, "Kill him! Avenge the Boss!"

"Avenge the Boss!" a group echoed, charging forward with surging killing intent.

"You overestimate yourselves," Ye Fan said. "Since you wish to die, I will grant it."

He completely unleashed his Slaughter Aura, his mind descending into chaos. The n rushed him only to be struck down one by one with his fists. No one who crossed his path was left alive. Finally, the survivors no longer had the courage to resist. They scattered in all directions, but those who were too slow could not escape his hellish grip.

When the area finally quieted, Ye Fan was kneeling alone in a pool of blood, gasping for breath.

Is the Slaughter Aura acting up again? Why can’t I control it? I don’t want to be a Demon King... Why must you all force my hand?

At that mont, Ye Fan’s eyes were bloodshot, making him resemble a Supre Demon King. This was his hidden, most terrifying side.

He walked over to the bushes, picked up the unconscious Su Qingxue, and left.

When Su Qingxue woke up, she found herself lying in a bathroom, her clothes stained with blood. Ye Fan was lying beside her.

"AH!" Su Qingxue scread, her composure shattering.

At her cry, Ye Fan weakly stirred.

"You’re a devil! You’re not human!" Su Qingxue cried, on the verge of a ntal breakdown.

"Unfortunately, you had to witness this," Ye Fan said. "But my conscience is clear. It was either them or us."

Hearing this, Su Qingxue relaxed slightly. It was true. If Ye Fan hadn’t acted, she would have t a terrible fate, possibly even been tortured to death.

"Promise ," she said, her voice trembling, "that you’ll stop killing. Please?"

Her words left Ye Fan’s heart in turmoil, and he didn’t answer for a long ti.

Sotis, once you step onto the path of killing, there’s no turning back.

Seeing Ye Fan’s forlorn expression, Su Qingxue felt an inexplicable pain in her heart. She said softly, "I know sothing is troubling you. Can you talk to

about it?"

"I’m fine. Just forget what happened tonight," Ye Fan said indifferently.

"Why? Do you intend to keep

in the dark about everything?" Su Qingxue felt a deep sense of unease.

"You and I are destined to live in different worlds," Ye Fan said. "The more you learn about , the more slaughter you will see, and it will only endanger you. I grew up in the midst of war, and my path forward is destined to be a chaotic scene."

At a loss for words, Su Qingxue realized that Ye Fan had left an indelible impression on her heart. Exhausted, she leaned against his chest and fell asleep in his embrace.
