Chapter 178: Chapter 177 Severe Punishnt to Establish Authority
"King of Heaven, my apologies for this farce. While I’m still able, I will properly reorganize the Green Emperor Sect. If this continues, I fear I won’t be able to face my old friends."
He spoke to Ye Fan with great courtesy. Although he was old enough to be considered Ye Fan’s senior among Martial Artists, he had to show respect when faced with soone of equal strength. Both were Kings, but Ye Fan was the King among Kings, so he had to treat Ye Fan as a peer. A Martial Artist’s status is determined by their skill in Martial Arts; it has nothing to do with age or seniority. For instance, since Ye Fan’s strength was a cut above his own, he had to show him adequate respect. To do otherwise would be to violate the rules of the underworld. Because of this, his attitude toward Ye Fan had been nothing but respectful from the mont he arrived.
"No need to be so polite," Ye Fan said.
At that mont, Master Xuantian turned to Du Xinwu. "Du Xinwu, as one of the current Sect Leaders, you ignored the rules of the Green Emperor Sect and have allowed it to descend into chaos. Do you admit your guilt?"
"I have committed no cri! Everything I did was for the good of the Green Emperor Sect. My conscience is clear!" Du Xinwu declared.
The few Elders who supported him sighed. They were disappointed that Du Xinwu remained so defiant, even in Master Xuantian’s presence.
"A clear conscience?" Master Xuantian scoffed. "Not only did you fail to adhere to the rules of the Green Emperor Sect, you have gradually led it down the path to ruin!
"If I hadn’t returned unexpectedly, I never would have known the sect was on the brink of collapse. Your sins are grave! Where is the Punishnt Elder?"
At his call, one of the Elders trembled and said, "Present!"
"Hmph! As the Punishnt Elder, you allowed this to happen. Do you admit your guilt?"
"I admit my guilt!" the Elder said at once, his voice trembling with respect and fear.
"We will set your sins aside for now," Master Xuantian said. "How should Du Xinwu’s cris be handled?"
"Three Cuts and Six Holes!" the Punishnt Elder replied quickly.
Instantly, everyone gasped. None of the high-ranking mbers of the Green Emperor Sect dared to speak, especially not before one of their revered ancestors. Who among them would dare to defy an ancestor?
"Then carry it out!" Master Xuantian snapped.
"This..." The Punishnt Elder clearly couldn’t bring himself to do it.
"I will not repeat myself!" Master Xuantian bellowed.
The Punishnt Elder gritted his teeth and threw a dagger in front of Du Xinwu. "Du Xinwu, do it yourself!"
He had once been one of Du Xinwu’s supporters, but now he didn’t dare back a man so deeply steeped in sin.
Du Xinwu stared at the Punishnt Elder in disbelief. "Uncle! You..."
"Xinwu, the truth is, we were all wrong. This is a sin we must both bear," the Punishnt Elder told him.
"Impossible! This is no sin, and I will not admit to it!" Du Xinwu retorted. He picked up the dagger and faced Master Xuantian. "Even if you are an ancestor of the Green Emperor Sect, you cannot treat a man who has served the sect ritoriously like this!"
"Has he perford any ritorious deeds?" Master Xuantian asked the crowd.
No one dared to answer. They were all aware of the foul state of the Green Emperor Sect but had never dared to speak up.
"Good, good, good!" Du Xinwu sneered. "I’ll rember you all. When I was at my peak, you fawned over , but now the re presence of an ancestor terrifies you! I will make you regret this!"
Then he turned back to Master Xuantian. "Even if you are an ancestor of the Green Emperor Sect, you cannot stop my plans. If you dare to interfere, I will slit your throat!"
"Xinwu, don’t be impulsive!" several Elders cautioned. But Du Xinwu paid them no mind and charged straight at Master Xuantian.
Master Xuantian simply tossed two copper coins into the air.
"Copper coins fall, heads blossom!" Tang Wanchou exclaid in shock.
Ye Fan’s eyes were also fixed on the two coins. This was Master Xuantian’s killing move. The phrase "Copper coins fall, heads blossom" had struck terror into the hearts of countless people in the past. He hadn’t expected anyone here to still recognize it.
"Kill!" Du Xinwu roared, lunging at Master Xuantian.
At that mont, Master Xuantian produced a string of copper coins and hurled them at Du Xinwu.
"Pathetic!" Du Xinwu scoffed.
However, when the copper coins struck him, his laughter died in his throat. He looked down and saw the coins had hit his vital points. Instantly, he found it hard to breathe. Then, in disbelief, he collapsed to the ground, his head blossoming.
Everyone gasped. Other than Ye Fan, no one saw when Master Xuantian had struck. They only knew that in the instant the copper coins landed, Du Xinwu was dead.
The other Elders didn’t dare speak, fearing they would be next. They couldn’t understand how their kind grandmaster could be so ruthless when he made his move.
Master Xuantian held the two copper coins in his hand, appearing very mysterious. Ye Fan, however, had seen the truth: the handful of coins Master Xuantian had thrown had all struck Du Xinwu’s fatal acupoints. The power behind the coins was astonishing, killing Du Xinwu in an instant.
Then, Master Xuantian turned to Wang Ziping. "Wang Ziping, as one of the current sect leaders, you have not only failed to contribute to the Green Emperor Sect but have even attempted to incite a war among your own sect brothers. Do you admit your guilt?"
Upon hearing this, Wang Ziping trembled. He had assud Master Xuantian would spare him after dealing with Du Xinwu, but in the blink of an eye, his turn had co.
"Grandmaster, I admit my guilt!" Recalling what had just happened to Du Xinwu, he certainly wasn’t going to be stubborn. He knew that the aged grandmaster could kill him with terrifying ease.
"Three Cuts and Six Holes," Master Xuantian said. "Administer it yourself."
"Grandmaster, I—"
"Hmm?" Master Xuantian stared intently at him.
Wang Ziping reluctantly picked up the dagger and began stabbing himself. With each stab, he let out a stifled groan. There was no way around it; this was one of the most brutal forms of punishnt.
After the Three Cuts and Six Holes, Wang Ziping’s face was deathly pale. He was on the verge of death, but he had at least saved his life.
"Take him away to be treated!"
Two Green Emperor Sect Martial Artists helped Wang Ziping away. He no longer had the strength to even stand, and his blood dripped onto the ground.
"To the six of you Elders, I shall spare you punishnt for now, in consideration of your years guarding the Green Emperor Sect! But if the sect remains in this state from now on, I will kill you myself!
"Don’t think I’m just a feeble old man. I will definitely outlive all of you! If you don’t believe , feel free to test that theory!"
"We wouldn’t dare! We wouldn’t dare!" The Elders nearly pissed themselves in fear. They only breathed a sigh of relief when they learned they would not be punished. For now, at least, they were safe.
Master Xuantian had originally intended to punish them as well. However, they had just been severely injured by Ye Fan. To punish them now would be a certain death sentence. They were all of the sa sect. As broad-minded and selfless as Master Xuantian was, he wasn’t that heartless.
"Starting today, the Green Emperor Sect will return to its founding principles. If anyone dares to throw the sect into turmoil again, I will show you what the Green Emperor Sect’s most severe form of torture feels like!"
The re ntion of the sect’s greatest torture terrified everyone from the Green Emperor Sect present. They all knew what it was: being flayed alive down to the bone. That was a torture no one would dare to face.
