Hugo kept staring at Lily like a complete fool, his brain struggling to catch up with reality.
She was really here.

Just as he was drowning in disappointnt from his canceled date.
This wasn't normal. This wasn't real. This had to be so kind of prank from the universe.
Why was his luck fluctuating so much of recent? Why was it going up and down?
His eyes road over her—the tight athletic build, the flawless skin, the way her ponytail swayed slightly as she stood there looking at him with raised eyebrows.
Her toned legs, thick thighs, those shorts, that sharp yet pretty face. That ass that promised to be even more bouncy than expected...

And he was still standing there like an absolute idiot.
Lily's frown deepened. Her cheeky smile was gone and replaced with a look of worry. "Are you not happy to see ?"

He took a deep breath, then put on his signature smooth expression. The king was back!
"I was just thinking about you," he said, voice dropping to a softer tone. "Like, just a few minutes ago. And now you're here. It's almost scary how much I was missing you... and then you actually appeared."
Lily's eyes widened slightly, and a small, pink blush crept onto her cheeks.
Hugo's ego imdiately inflated.

Lily looked away for a second, then smiled, her expression softening. "Well... I missed you too."
Hugo didn't hesitate. He opened his arms dramatically. "Then what are you waiting for?"
Lily laughed sweetly then jumped forward, wrapping her arms around him.
But instead of a light, playful hug, it was shockingly tight.
Hugo was montarily stunned.
His arms wrapped around her on reflex, his hands feeling the toned curves of her back, the warmth of her body, the subtle scent of her expensive shampoo mixed with the faintest hint of sweat probably from training.

He closed his eyes for a second, enjoying the mont.

"Did you really miss ?" she whispered. "Or are you just saying what I want to hear?"
Hugo's brain imdiately ca back online and he almost burst out laughing. Because what was this setup?!

If he said "yes," too easily, she'd accuse him of lying. She'd claim he didn't an it. Despite that being what she wanted to hear.
If he said "no," she'd punch him in the teeth.

Hugo grinned.
He raised a hand and tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear, letting his fingers brush against her skin just slightly.
Then, he leaned in, lowering his voice into sothing deep and smooth.
"You really think I'd waste my breath on words I don't an?" he murmured, looking into her eyes.
Lily's breath hitched slightly. Hugo internally high-fived himself.

But before she could reply, he flipped the script.
"How are you even here?" he asked, tilting his head. "Shouldn't you be at the volleyball court right now?"
Lily sighed dramatically, rolling off him and lying next to him on the bed. "Ugh. I deserve that."
She stared at the ceiling for a second, then turned to him with a guilty smile. "I'm sorry I've been so busy. We had a tournant with the neighboring colleges, and we won."
Hugo smirked. "So you're saying you abandoned for a bunch of sweaty volleyball matches?"
Lily playfully nudged him. "Shut up."
But Hugo couldn't help but think, this girl was so far gone for her love of volleyball.
She was out here acting like winning a tournant was the best thing that had ever happened to her.
She probably wouldn't even be this excited if soone proposed to her!
Hell, if so guy got down on one knee with a ring, Lily would probably be like, "Sorry, I can't say yes yet, I have practice in ten minutes."
Hugo sighed internally. She was too far gone.
But before he could make another joke, Lily suddenly sat up and turned to face him.
Her expression was serious.
"I actually ca to see you today because I want you to et my brother."
Hugo's entire body froze.
Wait. What?
Her brother?
Her actual, real-life, related-by-blood brother?
The evil little gremlin?!
What the hell was going on?
Hugo stared at her, completely speechless.
