Hugo sat cross-legged on the floor of his cramped room, staring at his system screen with an expression that looked like soone had just kicked him in the gut.

His inventory was open, displaying the "rewards" he had just received from spinning the Basic Gift Box Wheel.

Four items, each worse than the last, blinked mockingly at him: a paperclip, a plastic kazoo, a coupon for cabbage, and… a rock.

"A Kazoo?!" Hugo scread, his voice echoing off the walls. He jabbed a finger at the screen as if yelling at it would make the items disappear.

"What am I supposed to do with this? Play away my sorrows? Fix my broken dreams?!"

He flopped onto his back, arms spread out wide like he’d just been struck by lightning.

"This is it. This is the end of my journey. I’m not a hero. I’m not destined for greatness. I’m just so idiot who got scamd by a glowing wheel!"

But as his frustration brewed, a spark of determination ignited deep within his chest.

Hugo wasn’t one to give up easily—especially not when it ca to his precious system points.

He shot up, clenching his fists. "No! I won’t go down like this. This isn’t over. Two bad spins doesn’t an anything. The next round will be different. I can feel it in my bones!"

His resolve hardened, Hugo poured another 200 points into the wheel for four more spins.

The glowing wheel lit up again, spinning with a hypnotic hum as he stared at it with the intensity of a man betting his life savings.

"Alright, wheel. This is your chance to redeem yourself," Hugo muttered, his hands pressed together in a desperate prayer. "Co on, just one good item. That’s all I ask. Just one!"

The wheel began to slow, and Hugo leaned forward, his eyes wide with anticipation.

The first spin stopped: Trash-grade… a broken umbrella.

Hugo’s jaw dropped. "A broken umbrella?! Am I supposed to use this to shield myself from failure?!"

Second spin: Trash-grade… a pair of used socks.

"...?!"

Third spin: Trash-grade… a single paperclip.

Hugo’s hands flew to his head as he stared at the tiny item in his inventory.

"A PAPERCLIP?! What am I supposed to do with ONE PAPERCLIP?! Save the world by organising my disappointnt?!"

Fourth spin: Trash-grade… a plastic spoon.

And that was the final straw. Hugo let out a strangled scream and shot to his feet.

"A SPOON? A SPOON?! Do I look like I need help eating my depression?!" He stord across his room, flinging open his window so hard it rattled on its hinges.

He thrust his arms into the air and bellowed to the heavens. "BAD LUCK, I BANISH YOU! Get out of my life! OUT!"

He grabbed a pillow and waved it around like a holy artifact, as if that would sohow purify his room. "I don’t know who cursed , but you’ve had your fun! Now GET LOST!"

After a few minutes of frantic pacing, Hugo collapsed back onto the floor, his energy spent. He stared at the ceiling, muttering under his breath.

"Alright… let’s think about this. I’ve spent 600 points. SIX HUNDRED. And what do I have to show for it? Garbage! Literal garbage!"

He clenched his fists, his voice rising as he continued his rant.

"I could’ve used those points to buy mastery points. Do you know what mastery points would’ve done? Made STRONGER! But noooo, Hugo had to gamble like an idiot because, oh, maybe the wheel will give sothing cool!"

Suddenly, his gaze shifted upward, narrowing at so imaginary target. "Goddess of Luck," he said, his tone dripping with sarcasm.

"If you’re listening right now, you’re officially on my list. How about you stop playing gas and cut so slack, huh?"

He folded his arms, nodding like he was negotiating with a stubborn landlord. "Here’s the deal: I’ll light a candle for you. I’ll build you a shrine or whatever. Just give ONE decent reward. Just ONE!"

Feeling a renewed sense of hope—or desperation, depending on how you looked at it—Hugo invested another 200 points into the wheel. Stay updated through empire

This ti, he told himself, things would be different. He took a deep breath, wiping his sweaty palms on his pants as the wheel began to spin again.

"Alright, Hugo," he whispered to himself. "Stay calm. Stay positive. This is your mont."

The wheel spun faster and faster, glowing with a faint golden hue that made Hugo’s heart race. The first spin stopped:

Trash-grade… a chewed-up pen.

His left eye twitched.

Second spin: Trash-grade… a single flip-flop.

"What… WHAT?!"

Third spin: Trash-grade… a bent fork.

Hugo’s mouth hung open, his face frozen in a mask of disbelief. "A FORK? Are you KIDDING ?!"

Fourth spin: Trash-grade… a dented tin can.

Hugo sat completely still for a mont, staring blankly at the screen. Then he slowly placed his face in his hands.

"It’s over," he mumbled, his voice muffled. "I’m done. My system points are gone. My dreams are gone. My life is gone."

He lifted his head, his expression one of pure despair. "I could’ve been soone! I could’ve been a contender! But no, I’m the guy who wasted 800 points on socks and spoons!"

For a mont, he sat there in silence, his thoughts swirling like a tornado of regret. Then, with a shaky laugh, he stood up.

"You know what? Fine. Fine! Let’s waste the last 200 points. Why not? I’ve already hit rock bottom. Might as well see if I can dig deeper!"

With trembling hands, he initiated the final spins. The wheel glowed brighter than before, spinning so fast it was almost a blur. Hugo leaned in, his heart pounding in his chest.

The rewards began to appear on the screen one by one. First item… second item… third item…

Hugo’s eyes widened, his breath hitching as the fourth item appeared. For a mont, he was completely still. Then his lips moved, barely forming a single phrase:

"…No way."
