Elder Roushui’s expression was originally calm and composed, but now it holds a bit of hesitation. These words really shouldn’t have co from her mouth.
"Elder Roushui, just speak frankly. Doesn’t Daoism value following one’s heart?"
Long Yan’s expression didn’t change at all. In fact, the mont Elder Roushui made her move, Long Yan knew that she must have recognized him. Otherwise, how could he have avoided her casual strike so easily?
Clearly, it was after Elder Roushui recognized him that she deliberately shifted the ice cone slightly, allowing Long Yan to dodge the attack.
"Actually, we didn’t intend to co. After all, with the Demon Clan arriving now, we ought to prioritize them above all. But Elder Tiancheng insisted that you’re the only one who can save Shu Mountain, which is why we’re here to help you this ti."
Then Long Yan saw Elder Roushui take a deep breath and utter a sentence.
"We hope that after this, you can join Shu Mountain and complete a task for us."
Only then did Long Yan understand why Elder Roushui had been so hesitant before. After all, Daoists are akin to monks, and bargaining with others is indeed sowhat imposing. However, Long Yan didn’t take it to heart.
"Elder Tiancheng had already spoken to before. I will certainly do my best, but as for joining Shu Mountain, let’s forget it."
Elder Roushui’s expression beca peculiar. One must know that Shu Mountain is not inferior to the other Three Major Sects, yet Long Yan outrightly refused?
"Senior, you might know that I went there to find my wife. But having join the Daoist sects, wouldn’t that be pointless?"
Long Yan gave a helpless smile. Is Shu Mountain too genuine or what? First, they bring back his wife, only to ask him to beco a monk? Wouldn’t it be easier for him to join imdiately?
Hearing this, Elder Roushui realized that Long Yan had misunderstood. She hurriedly waved her hand and said,
"Of course, it’s not asking you to beco a Daoist priest. It’s just that if you’re not a mber of Shu Mountain, this task... forget it, you’ll know when the ti cos."
Elder Roushui’s words made Long Yan roll his eyes. How annoying to leave a sentence half-said! But seeing that Elder Roushui was reluctant to say more, Long Yan didn’t press further, exchanging a couple of polite remarks with her before heading to the Tianshan Sect to discuss setting out the next day.
The room was instantly left with only Elder Roushui. In the vast emptiness of the room, a sigh echoed, followed by silence once more.
Leaving Elder Roushui’s room, Long Yan too breathed a sigh of relief. Elder Roushui’s room was too oppressive, a feeling Long Yan disliked, so he headed upstairs. Given the number of Shu Mountain’s disciples, they stayed on the first floor, leaving the Tianshan Sect to take the rooms on the smaller second floor.
As Long Yan knocked on Lu Wujue’s door, a voice like thunder rang out, and then he felt a massive force pull his hand into the room.
"Kid, you finally had the nerve to co, huh? Did the old madman you sent have a grudge against , the old man?"
Before Long Yan could react, he was showered with the spittle of the boisterous voice. After he managed to wipe his face dry, he noticed Lu Wujue glaring at him angrily. As Long Yan regained his senses, he saw Jian Wuchen watching him coldly, long sword in hand, ready to strike any mont, giving Long Yan quite a scare, not knowing what had transpired.
"Kid, I’ve tracked you down. That master of yours, acting like a madman, ca up to Tianshan, and in just three days almost ate Tianshan out of house and ho."
Lu Wujue’s eyes were red with rage. Never had he seen soone so capable of eating and drinking — and shalessly so. Using the pretext of seeking soone on Tianshan, the old madman had feasted for three days, and worst of all, made off with countless genius earth treasures. If not for Tianshan’s considerable assets, the mountain might have been stripped bare.
Jian Wuchen also regarded Long Yan with suspicion. The old madman’s antics were still fresh in his mind. This madman said he would teach him swordsmanship. Since he was Long Yan’s master, Jian Wuchen wasn’t too guarded, only to discover he had stolen his sword when he wasn’t paying attention.
By the ti this was noticed, the old madman was long gone, and they had no choice but to lay the bla on Long Yan.
Seeing the master and disciple eying him fiercely, Long Yan felt like killing the old madman. The old madman had certainly stirred up trouble for him. Staring at the two, Long Yan didn’t know what to say. The old madman had thoroughly offended both of them.
Yet, Lu Wujue’s expression suddenly changed. He turned and said,
"Forget it. I see this kid is destined to be a leading figure of this era. Let’s let it go this ti, but make sure your master doesn’t co to Tianshan again."
Long Yan found it strange. His relationship with Lu Wujue wasn’t that good, yet the issue was resolved so easily? Long Yan had thought he might need to compensate for the losses, but since the other said it’s fine, he wouldn’t stir up any trouble, just ntioning they would depart the next morning, ending the conversation with Lu Wujue’s acknowledgnt.
"Master, are we just letting it slide like this?"
Jian Wuchen had detected a quiver in his master’s voice. After all, the treasures on Tianshan had taken years to accumulate, nearly cleaned out by that madman. Recovering them would be ideal.
Jian Wuchen was a straightforward person. Although he had a good relationship with Long Yan, he knew how to keep personal and sect matters separate. He felt his lost sword was one thing, having been with him for many years, but since the madman was Long Yan’s master, he opted not to complain. However, Tianshan Sect’s affairs weren’t his alone.
"Sigh, forget it. I do see great potential in Long Yan. It’s just that his master is a bit peculiar, and we’re no match for them."
Those words shocked Jian Wuchen. His master was almost unmatched in today’s Holy Domain, yet the old madman truly was that formidable?
Jian Wuchen had similar thoughts. The old madman hadn’t left him completely empty-handed, teaching him a particular swordsmanship move. Given Jian Wuchen’s current strength, executing even 30% of its power was comndable. After secretly trying it, he realized the move’s full power might surpass his master’s Three Shocking Heavens Swords.
However, Jian Wuchen didn’t tell anyone. The old madman had sworn him to secrecy, even forbidding him to tell his master. After saying this, the old madman took his sword and disappeared.
"Let’s sleep."
"Mm!"
The master and disciple had their unspoken concerns, but they didn’t voice them. In the end, they found out it was a blessing in disguise.
