Just as Chu ng darted into the room, their gazes t, and for an instant, Chu ng was stunned. Why did things seem not quite as she expected? Why hadn’t Long Yan fainted?
In the instant he saw Chu ng, Long Yan completely understood her intentions. What exactly was this girl up to?
He reached out and grabbed a handful of powder from the air, sniffing it carefully. With a head full of black lines, he stared at the stunned Chu ng.
"Why did you wrap realgar in the envelope? Are you taking for Lady Bai?"
Indeed, Chu ng had been deceived. The dicine seller was rely a traveling Lang Zhong. When he heard Chu ng wanted to buy sothing that would make soone faint, Lang Zhong scoffed. If such things were easily purchasable, he wouldn’t be a Lang Zhong; anyone could knock out another and rob them.
However, Chu ng didn’t engage in conversation with Lang Zhong at all. She even threatened to smash his shop if he didn’t have such dicine. To quickly appease this young lady, Lang Zhong hastily handed a package of realgar to her and didn’t even take the dicine money before running out.
Lang Zhong considered himself unlucky for the incident; realgar wasn’t valuable in his eyes anyway, leading to today’s awkward situation.
Long Yan, upon seeing Chu ng’s complex expression, had already pieced together the entire situation. Seeing Long Yan looking at her with a ’nuclear kindness,’ Chu ng thought to herself, "Done for; this drugging attempt will make Long Yan completely wary of ."
"By the way, I just rembered I have so business; I’ll leave first."
"Co back!"
Though Long Yan spoke just two words, they seed to hold endless magic over Chu ng, as her reluctant legs moved towards Long Yan, albeit with an expression of deep contrition.
Seeing no alternative, Long Yan playfully flicked Chu ng’s head, causing her to look at him tearfully.
"Let’s see if you dare to use such cheap tricks again."
Feigning to blow his fingers, Long Yan glanced sideways at Chu ng, who was holding her forehead. He rely smiled and said nothing.
"Never again," Chu ng muttered softly, and Long Yan, looking at her in bemusent, thought this girl was truly exceptional. Usually, it was n who drugged won, not the other way around.
"But I suppose there won’t be a next ti. I am, after all, about to leave."
Long Yan lightly brushed the realgar off his clothes, unaware that Chu ng felt like she had been struck by lightning when she heard his words.
"You’re leaving? When?"
Chu ng stopped rubbing her red forehead and just stared blankly at Long Yan. Was this man really going to leave? Would they never have the chance to et again?
Even though she had prepared for this day, it was still hard to accept when it truly arrived. Holding back the urge to cry, Chu ng asked.
"Now, there’s sothing urgent, and many people are waiting for ."
Leaning back against the chair, Long Yan had initially planned not to tell Chu ng, but after today’s escapade, he couldn’t withhold it anymore. Ultimately, Long Yan couldn’t harden his heart, wanting Chu ng to let go of this attachnt.
But then sothing unimaginable happened. Chu ng swallowed her sobs and simply smiled at Long Yan.
"Well, since you have your own matters, go busy yourself."
Chu ng said these words with a smile, and while Long Yan felt a little surprised, it was good that she could let go. This made all the words Long Yan had prepared unnecessary. Seeing Chu ng’s smile, he was at a loss for words and simply said.
"Take care."
"Mm, take care."
And just like that, Long Yan left without hesitation. Only a small group knew he had been there, let alone what he had done, except that those privy knew Long Yan had dealt with two malignant tumors in this rcenary town.
Finishing his business, he brushed away the dust, hiding his accomplishnts and reputation.
Two days after Long Yan’s departure, Chu ng appeared at the town’s entrance, seemingly ready to venture out, with the elder of the Chu Lu rcenary Group standing behind.
Chu Lu had lost an arm and could no longer be a rcenary. Using the gold, he had indeed married Zhu Ying, without any grand wedding, they just naturally ca together, and perhaps in two years, they’d even have kids.
Tian Luo Yi had left early, inspired by Long Yan’s words about heaven’s injustice. He planned to travel the world to see if there was any way to lift his curse, even if it was in vain, he had to look.
So now, the only ones seeing Chu ng off were Chu Lu and Zhu Ying.
"Little ng, take care of yourself outside, and I wish you success soon," Zhu Ying stepped forward to straighten Chu ng’s clothes. Though she usually dressed as a rcenary, in silk clothes, Chu ng looked like an elegant young beauty, now with more serenity.
Chu ng’s face was bright with a confident smile. Her purpose in going out was Long Yan. Back when threatening the shop assistant, she had read the Old Madman’s letter; though she didn’t recognize many words, she could barely make out Haifeng City.
"Since you’re not staying here, don’t bla for coming to find you."
Chu ng grinned mischievously, seemingly contemplating what expression Long Yan would have when he saw her. With a wave to the two behind her, she left the town without looking back, her resolute manner surprising Chu Lu.
Looking at his wife beside him, Chu Lu curiously asked.
"Can you won really be so crazy for a relationship?"
In response, Zhu Ying gave him a side-eye, pointed at his arm, and blushing, she said.
"And you’re one to talk?"
Seeing Zhu Ying like this, Chu Lu just chuckled. With his remaining hand, he naturally took hers into his, heading ho without looking back.
Long Yan flew over a forest, hurrying and not caring to look around, heading straight for Haifeng City.
But he completely missed that below, in the jungle, a figure in bright red was looking up at him. A pale face bearing a strange smile, as the woman’s body seed to break with a crisp sound, and the dense surrounding ghostly aura caused the nearby trees to wither.
"Hehehe..."
Leaving only a long string of such laughter!
