Chapter 2461: Chapter 2451 Two Corpses
In the dead of night, such an event unfolded. Even though Long Yan had seen much in his ti, he still felt a chill run down his spine.
“Open the door.”
Apparently dissatisfied with Long Yan’s hesitation, the voice grew louder, and the knocking beca more urgent. The surrounding air started to drop a few degrees.
Long Yan felt that even though he had mastered the Ice Domain, he still felt chilling winds around him, and he couldn’t help but tighten his clothes.
“Open the door!”
The voice grew even louder, and the knocking intensified. Long Yan, who had taken two steps toward the doorway, retreated again. The sound was just too terrifying, everything hinted at sothing eerie.
“Who are you?”
Of course, he had to speak up. Long Yan asked, preparing himself for a fight. The surrounding sounds fell into silence, and Long Yan sat motionless on the bed.
Imdiately after, the knocking started again at the doorway, but unlike before, this ti the knocking turned abnormal and massive, seeming twisted, like an angry roar.
“Open the door.”
Long Yan walked slowly to the doorway and lit the lamp. He saw a shadow outside the door, with its right hand pounding the room forcefully, each strike carrying enormous weight. Yet, despite the trendous force, the gate that made a creaking sound when opened endured.
The shadow at the doorway was like a repeater, ignoring whatever Long Yan said and kept repeating “Open the door.”
Long Yan held the Lu Xian Sword, intending to swing a “Dense Sword” at the shadow. But as he approached the door, he felt the ground beneath his feet strangely sticky, like sothing had stuck to his shoes.
Looking down by the light, Long Yan found his boots stained with fresh blood. Each ti the shadow knocked on the wooden door, a surge of blood would seep through the door crack, as if soone outside was splashing it inwards with a basin.
Long Yan stepped back two paces. This thing was eerily tight. He had never heard of ghosts or demons having such abilities, so he temporarily dismissed the idea. Long Yan returned to the bedside, letting the shadow roar at the doorway while he remained in ditation.
As dawn broke the next day, Long Yan slowly awoke from ditation. The night had been quite a spectacle; first, the shadow howled outside the door for half the night. Long Yan could only cultivate on the bed. Regarding ghosts and such, Long Yan was still sowhat afraid since these creatures have varied attack thods.
Therefore, once he found a way to avoid it, Long Yan used it without hesitation. If it were a living cultivator, Long Yan could fight fair. The blood that had been at the door had completely vanished, leaving only patches of dried blood.
“Huh?”
Curiosity led Long Yan to squat down. Blood isn’t like water; how could it dry up in just one night? It seed quite unusual to Long Yan.
Similarly perplexing was the shadow outside the door. Long Yan had only lightly latched the door, but even as the shadow pounded earlier, the latch had already fallen. Yet the shadow kept pounding and roaring without any sign of wanting to enter.
This caused doubts to arise in Long Yan’s mind. He opened the room door to see how the two people next door were doing. As he stepped into the corridor, he found Rat 2 already standing at the doorway.
“Guest, look at this…”
Rat 2 hurriedly approached Long Yan, as if he had seen sothing terrifying, his whiskers trembling humorously.
Long Yan signaled him to calm down, and then he stepped towards the room next door to find the door open, with a shocking bloodstain on the grid paper covering the window above.
Following his gaze inside, the house presented a horrific scene; the walls and ground were marked with fresh bloodstains. Two people in ordinary attire lay in a pool of blood. The blood had already flowed to the doorway.
“Guest, what should be done? Although before, there were instances, the guests just disappeared. This was the first ti.”
Long Yan nodded slightly. The fear on Rat 2’s face seed genuine. Judging from the overturned tables and chairs inside, a fight had clearly occurred in the room, but Long Yan was puzzled about how he had heard no sound last night.
Logically, a battle of this scale couldn’t have gone unnoticed, especially since the two were in such terrible condition, even torn apart. A one-strike kill wouldn’t result in such a ghastly scene, indicating torture from the corpses.
So Long Yan kept his gaze on the shadow from last night. It seed that finding the shadow might lead to answers.
“The mayor is here!”
During Long Yan’s contemplation, a loud voice ca from outside, followed by a dense footstep sound on the stairs. Quite a few seed to have arrived.
“Where are the dead?”
The leader was a middle-aged man in imperial robes, likely the town mayor previously ntioned. With a handlebar mustache and a dark cap on his head, he exuded the montum of a superior with every movent.
Rat 2 hurriedly went forward, pointing to the room.
“Sir, it is there.”
Then he withdrew fawningly to the side, the mayor ignored Rat 2, as if not seeing him, and proceeded towards the room.
Watching the scene, Long Yan felt more enlightened. Rat 2 clearly had no status in this small town. Although it was at the dynasty’s border, it had no troops stationed, so the mayor was the true local overlord.
An inherently proud person doesn’t regard the lowly demon race in town. Later, sothing unexpected might arise.
Upon seeing the scene inside the house, Long Yan clearly noticed the mayor’s eyebrows furrow a bit. But in this rcenary town, they had seen all kinds of deaths; these two were just child’s play.
Stepping into the room, the mayor carefully avoided the blood on the ground as he approached the corpses, his entourage casually strolling in, indifferent to clues, rely observing the spectacle.
Watching this, Long Yan shook his head. The ability of officials in such remote towns was abysmally poor. Just then, the mayor walking towards the corpses abruptly turned and sternly questioned.
“Rat 2, after causing two deaths, do you still deny your cris?”
