Chapter 2446: Chapter 2436 lting

Long Yan finished chanting the Buddhist scriptures, but it was only half of it. Actually, during his previous investigations, he found so scriptures in the wooden cabinet, learned a few pages, and chanted them. However, seeing that the little monk had vanished proved it was indeed very effective.

With the little monk’s disappearance, the tightly locked gate opened with a crisp sound. It seed the little monk was the only one maintaining this space. Long Yan didn’t have to worry about further surprise attacks, but he was still concerned about the hand note, so he decided not to leave the monk’s room yet.

After resting briefly, Long Yan stood up and entered the darkness. The one previously embedded in the wall should have been soone who ca here before, but no one could guarantee it was just one person. In such an environnt, two people would certainly feel more comfortable than one.

The feathered arrow had completely fallen off and into the abyss. Though the monk’s room was small, it was quite remarkable, but currently, Long Yan couldn’t go down, so he planned to walk further ahead.

The scene inside felt repetitive; every room’s layout and appearance were identical, even Long Yan could only identify which room he had already entered by looking at the dried blood stains.

Generally, there were few skeletal remains in the monk’s room. Up until now, Long Yan had only discovered one skeleton, wearing a yellow monk’s robe. It seed this skeleton was the actual monk of this monk’s room.

But as he walked further, Long Yan beca increasingly uneasy. After all, how many people had died here? The corridor was littered with dried skeletal remains, so were incomplete, but many bore wounds inflicted by sharp weapons, which couldn’t have been caused by the little monk.

Long Yan squatted beside a peculiar skeleton, the whole body slumped against the wall, and the hand on the ground seed to be writing sothing.

Following the torchlight, Long Yan saw two dried bloodstains, inscribed with the common language of the Holy Domain, saying “don’t”.

Don’t what?

Long Yan was puzzled. It seed there was sothing dangerous here besides the little monk. Long Yan straightened up and extended the torch forward to illuminate further; it didn’t do much, but it did reassure him a lot, allowing him to react in ti if sothing happened.

Continuing onward was a white wall. It seed that Long Yan had reached the end of this eastern monk’s room. He lightly tapped the wall with the Magic Gun in his hand; the wall was unusually solid, and the idea of breaking through was unrealistic. Then Long Yan shifted his gaze to the rooms on both sides.

Aside from dust, these two monk’s rooms were exceptionally clean. Previously, rooms were marked with dried blood, looking sowhat horrific, but these two monk’s rooms were neatly organized, even the blankets were intact. Long Yan noticed one cabinet was missing a yellow monk’s robe, which seed to belong to the deceased monk’s room.

Not because of dying outside their room?

Long Yan wondered as he scrutinized the room. Although neat, it differed from the others, typically housing three or four beds; this room had only two. It appeared the monk’s status within the temple was extraordinary.

In the tavern of rcenary Town, the Old Madman remained in a deep sleep. The waiter glanced at the Old Madman on the bed and sighed, what kind of guest was this? Drinking so much and ending up passed out here for Three Days and Three Nights. His poor apprentice was probably already devoured by wild beasts.

Watching the Old Madman still mumbling dream-talk without clarity, the waiter was unsure what to say. He genuinely didn’t know if the Old Madman was pretending or what his deal was.

Sighing, the waiter closed the door and left; his daily work wasn’t too relaxed. Nevertheless, with the people’s simplicity, he couldn’t simply throw the Old Madman out onto the street; he could only manage it this way.

Long Yan carefully observed the room, contemplating what made the monk die outside his room. From the hand note, Long Yan sensed the massacre didn’t happen in an instant; if such an event occurred, the instinctive reaction would be to check back in the room first.

Could it be the monk t the murderer outside? Or did he witness sothing horrific, preventing him from daring to return to the room? Long Yan felt there must still be sothing undiscovered in this room.

Under scrutiny, Long Yan focused his gaze on the two Arhat statues on the table. Regardless of ti, the two Arhats glared fiercely, exuding an imposing aura.

These two temple statues were also popular figures among the people; one had his right arm lowered, with his left arm raised high, straddling a mighty Azure Dragon, while the other sat sideways on a Ferocious Tiger, with his feet dangling and both hands resting on the tiger’s back.

Even if they weren’t Buddhists, people probably understood these were the legendary Arhats of Conquering Dragon and Subduing Tiger. However, Long Yan found the two Arhats awkward sohow; Subduing Tiger Arhat seed fine, but this Conquering Dragon Arhat differed from the outside Conquering Dragon Arhat statues.

After careful observation, Long Yan couldn’t pinpoint what specifically was different, but he felt uneasy in his heart. Ignoring the statues for a mont, he saw a palm-sized small cauldron in front of the two Arhats, empty but with so dust inside.

If that was the case, Long Yan seed to understand the persons confined in this room, which might have housed Law Protectors or Vajras, considered the temple’s combat power representatives.

Upon thoroughly searching the room, Long Yan focused back on the two Arhat statues. He attempted to pick them up but instead lifted the table itself, indicating the Arhat statues were fixed to the table.

However, with closer inspection, Long Yan finally realized what was amiss; the Conquering Dragon Arhat’s hands were reversed. The statues he had seen typically held a bowl centered between them with the right hand elevated, embodying the Conquering Dragon posture.

Carefully tweaking them, Long Yan discovered the Conquering Dragon Arhat’s hands were indeed movable, which surprised him. When he aligned the Arhat’s hands correctly, a creaking sound ca from the wall behind Long Yan.

Following the sound, Long Yan looked at the wall, where a hidden door had appeared, with a faint breeze seemingly causing it to open.

It seed the Arhat statues activated a concealed chanism, sothing Long Yan hadn’t anticipated. Fortunately, his obsessiveness led him to uncover a clue.

Long Yan cautiously pushed open the hidden door; following the torchlight, inside was rely a ladder, plunging into darkness below.
