Chapter 2380: Chapter 2370: Tianshan God-Beast

“Aren’t you worried about offending Thunder Leopard like this?”

Jian Wuchen glanced at Long Yan beside him and said in a low voice. The conflict with Thunder Leopard had officially taken root today. As a mber of the Tianshan Sect, Jian Wuchen knew that Thunder Leopard wouldn’t dare trouble him no matter how mad he got. However, Long Yan, who stood alone, would undoubtedly beco the target of Thunder Leopard’s crazy vengeance.

“Doesn’t matter. That guy already set his sights on from the beginning.”

Long Yan replied indifferently. It might be due to the presence of the three won, Long Qingli and the others, which naturally drew Thunder Leopard’s hostility. Though Long Yan never cared much about what others thought, his Black Sun inherently resonated with the darkness of the world, making him acutely aware of malicious gazes.

“Is that so?”

Jian Wuchen revealed a thoughtful expression. In truth, he wanted to help Long Yan, because during the first level of the trial, Long Yan had helped him avoid nurous pitfalls. Strictly speaking, Jian Wuchen owed Long Yan a favor.

Long Yan, however, didn’t see it that way. To him, Thunder Leopard was nothing more than a minor character. If the opportunity presented itself, Long Yan wouldn’t hesitate to eliminate him, especially since Thunder Leopard seed unwavering in his desire for conflict.

“Alright, let show you your accommodations for tonight.”

Liang Tu intervened smoothly, breaking the tension. Though he also disliked Thunder Leopard’s arrogant swagger, he exercised restraint to avoid escalating matters. Out of respect for Liang Tu’s authority, Thunder Leopard reluctantly clenched his fist and turned away, silently plotting his revenge once the Tianshan Conference was over.

By now, Long Yan had clearly established himself as a force to be reckoned with among this group of cultivators. He keenly noticed that even those who once regarded him with disdain now lowered their heads when facing him. To send Thunder Leopard flying with one punch—such a feat was sothing no ordinary cultivator leaning on others for assistance could achieve.

Humans are simply like this: they respect strong ones. When soone they deem weak suddenly transforms into a powerful figure, it fills them with fear—fear of retaliation. Yet, Long Yan paid them no heed. If anything, being the common target of hostility felt like the environnt he thrived in the most.

“Well, well. Our mighty hero who sent Thunder Leopard flying with one punch looks a bit uneasy.”

Jian Wuchen suddenly cracked a rare joke, catching Long Yan slightly off guard. However, judging by Jian Wuchen’s expression, Long Yan could tell there wasn’t even a hint of levity in his words.

“So even you know how to joke.”

Long Yan chuckled, though it prompted Jian Wuchen to frown slightly. While he usually spoke infrequently, this didn’t an he lacked the ability to joke around—did it?

Apparently, Jian Wuchen hadn’t realized the air of aloofness he unwittingly exuded.

Each room was designed for a single occupant. Occasionally, a pair of cultivators participating together—like Dao companions—could opt to share a room. Entering his room, Long Yan found it spotless, as though soone had ticulously tidied it up in advance. It left the impression that the Tianshan Sect was indeed wealthy and extravagant.

Earlier, Jian Wuchen ntioned the rooms were constructed by builders hired from the foot of the mountain at the sect’s expense, intended specifically for participants of the Tianshan Conference. They were maintained regularly and furnished more luxuriously than the finest rooms in a high-end pub. Yet Long Yan wasn’t particularly moved by this; he simply lay on the bed, contemplating the nature of tomorrow’s trial.

Liang Tu had inford them earlier that, owing to the long arrival tis of all participants today, the second level of the trial would be postponed until tomorrow. Gazing at the room, Long Yan found himself questioning whether the Tianshan Sect had deliberately kept them in this location, thus prompting him to remain vigilant regarding the potential designs behind tomorrow’s trial.

“Brother Long, are you in your room?”

Just as Long Yan was lost in thought, Jian Wuchen’s voice echoed in the doorway. Long Yan responded casually, inviting Jian Wuchen in once the door was pushed ajar. After gesturing for Jian Wuchen to sit wherever he liked, Long Yan rose from the bed.

“I’ve got a pretty good idea why you’re here.”

Long Yan’s words made Jian Wuchen pause for a mont. It was easy to guess, of course—Jian Wuchen wasn’t one for idle chat. If he sought Long Yan out, it had to be related to the upcoming trials.

“How’d you figure that?”

“Just guessed.”

Long Yan replied offhandedly, and Jian Wuchen took no offense, instead unfolding a map and spreading it out on the table. It was a map of Tianshan’s routes, with a conspicuous red X marked over the road leading from the mid-mountain to the Back Mountain.

“This is the route map for Tianshan; originally, it would’ve been the second level.”

The phrase “originally the second level” imdiately aroused Long Yan’s suspicion. What did Jian Wuchen an by “originally”? Had plans changed?

“Indeed. Due to certain reasons, the originally planned second level has been canceled, and Tianshan Sect decided to initiate the Stairway to Heaven instead.”

Jian Wuchen shared the information straightforwardly. He had specifically co to notify Long Yan, though the situation itself was bizarre. Initially, the sect intended to set a trial involving a Divine Emperor Fourth Rank Demonic Beast. Those who survived the encounter would proceed to the third level. However, last night, for reasons unknown, the demonic beast was slain.

“Slain?”

Suspicion flickered in Long Yan’s eyes.

“Did soone from Tianshan Sect kill it?”

“No.”

Jian Wuchen denied the notion. After a brief contemplation, he slowly explained the truth. It turned out the demonic beast had occupied what was originally a God-Beast’s nest. Though things had initially remained peaceful within the nest, unexpectedly, the God-Beast seed to sense sothing and abruptly awakened from its deep sleep.

Despite being a water-attribute God-Beast with a generally gentle disposition, it couldn’t tolerate a demonic beast taking over its nest. Enraged, the God-Beast struck swiftly, killing the demonic beast outright. As a result, all the participants lost their planned trial.

“What’s the na of this God-Beast?”

Long Yan asked, his curiosity piqued. Jian Wuchen shook his head, explaining that like the other cultivators, he had been resting in a hotel at the mountain’s base during the incident and hadn’t seen the God-Beast himself. He learned of the matter only through his Senior Brother.

“I see.”

Long Yan nodded slightly. Jian Wuchen needed to notify other cultivators as well, so he didn’t linger. With only two disciples from Tianshan Sect managing the group trial at mid-mountain—including Jian Wuchen—the task of ensuring no one wandered into the Back Mountain would already be a headache.

“Long Yan, I think you should investigate the God-Beast at the Back Mountain.”

At that mont, Yun Huang’s voice resonated in Long Yan’s mind, sounding urgent and eager.

This caused Long Yan so hesitation. The ergence of the God-Beast coincided with a sensitive ti for the Tianshan Sect. Was it wise for him to venture there so recklessly? Not all God-Beasts and Sacred Beasts were amicable toward humans. While many had previously offered their legacies to mankind, it didn’t necessarily an they enjoyed being disturbed.

“It’s up to you. Based on the Nine Suns Cauldron’s reaction, the God-Beast that appeared behind Tianshan is linked to the Martial God Array you bear.”
