Chapter 2361: Chapter 2351: Shu Mountain

However, that group of officers and soldiers were all re ordinary people. Elder Tiancheng was clearly a bit puzzled—he hadn’t offended anyone, had dutifully paid the entry fee, and had been keeping to himself—but why was he being accused of being a fugitive?

“I’m not a fugitive! Don’t go spreading nonsense!”

Although Elder Tiancheng tried to refute the claim, his words sounded more like a weak defense. Long Yan could tell from Elder Tiancheng’s reddened face how embarrassed he was, but the officer had an entirely unapologetic deanor. He was the City Lord of Tianshan City’s brother-in-law, after all, which had secured him this cushy position. He certainly wasn’t going to take seriously so cleanly dressed Daoist like Elder Tiancheng.

“Cut the crap! If I say you’re a fugitive, you’re a fugitive!”

This officer, nad Qin Wei, often abused his position by relying on his brother-in-law’s influence. Nonetheless, Qin Wei was shrewd in one aspect: he never picked on people who were clearly beyond his ability to handle. After all, Tianshan City frequently hosted cultivators passing through, drawn by admiration for the Tianshan Sect and eager to take a closer look at its mountain.

Those who pursued cultivation, naturally, didn’t care much about worldly wealth, so they turned a blind eye to Qin Wei’s extortionate habits. But who could’ve guessed that today Qin Wei would end up kicking the proverbial iron plate?

Hearing this accusation, Elder Tiancheng was utterly incensed. Where did this nonsense co from? How could he, a respected Shu Mountain elder, be accused of being a fugitive? Nevertheless, his years of disciplined cultivation in Shu Mountain had imbued him with good self-control. Calmly but firmly, he reiterated before Qin Wei that he was not a fugitive. Qin Wei, however, rolled his eyes, pointed a finger at Elder Tiancheng’s nose, and began cursing him.

“How dare you talk back to , you old cow-nosed Daoist! Either leave sothing behind for , or co to the prison and argue with there!”

Saying this, Qin Wei grabbed Elder Tiancheng’s collar, yet despite exerting his full strength, he couldn’t budge him an inch. Elder Tiancheng’s body remained as immovable as a boulder. Long Yan recognized this imdiately as a Shu Mountain cultivation technique known by its impressive na: “Unmovable Like a Mountain.”

“Slandering soone’s integrity out of thin air—do you even respect the rule of law?”

Elder Tiancheng’s stern rebuke reverberated like a thunderclap. Qin Wei’s heart skipped a beat—he had indeed stumbled onto an iron plate—but in the next mont, he began rationalizing to himself that these cultivators were typically arrogant and quick to resort to violence. Perhaps this one was rely bluffing with a trick or two he’d picked up; it was worth testing.

“You claim to be an elder of Shu Mountain? Then why don’t you tell where your sect is located?”

“Ridiculous! The location of Shu Mountain is confidential—how could I possibly reveal it to you?”

Elder Tiancheng glared daggers at Qin Wei, but his words emboldened Qin Wei instead of intimidating him. Clearly, Qin Wei thought this Daoist ca from so small, diocre sect; otherwise, how could he have never heard of Shu Mountain before? Qin Wei, who was familiar with a few of the bigger factions, felt reassured that Shu Mountain wasn’t one of them.

“Stop rambling! Co with , or you’ll face the consequences today! Law? I AM the law!”

With that, Qin Wei made a hand gesture, and his squad of officers and soldiers imdiately surrounded Elder Tiancheng in a manner that suggested they intended to execute him on the spot should he resist.

“You…”

Speechless with fury, Elder Tiancheng fought the urge to unleash a torrent of curses. Yet his cultivated deanor as a Daoist monk held him back—he refused to stoop to that level.

This was a case of cleverness backfiring on Qin Wei. Long Yan slapped his own face in exasperation. It was important to know that even though Shu Mountain and the Tianshan Sect were on similar footing as sects, Shu Mountain was distinct in its lack of active disciple recruitnt. The sect’s disciples always maintained a low profile during their worldly training and only brought back abandoned children they encountered to take them under their wing. Furthermore, while Shu Mountain’s location wasn’t exactly a secret within the Cultivation World, the sect still claid its whereabouts were “confidential” to outsiders.

Shu Mountain’s true location was a floating immortal mountain suspended in the air, eliminating any concrete “address” to disclose. Across the Cultivation World, cultivators generally avoided provoking Shu Mountain—not because Shu Mountain’s retaliation was particularly fierce, but rather because its disciples were universally recognized for their compassionate, Bodhisattva-like deanor.

Unlike other cultivators who often had blood-stained histories, Shu Mountain’s disciples were genuine Daoists. Even in conflicts, their strikes aid only to injure—never to kill. This earned Shu Mountain the respect of most cultivators.

“Who could’ve guessed these unreasonable officers would show up today? It truly feels like a scholar trying to reason with soldiers—logic falls on deaf ears.”

Long Yan muttered lightly as he prepared to intervene, only for Long Qingli to gently tug at his arm. She tiptoed and leaned close to whisper in his ear, eliciting a glare from Yin Yue. Yet Long Qingli seed unfazed, even mischievously exhaling onto Long Yan’s ear, further provoking Yin Yue into a fit of rage. She looked ready to ignore everything and confront Long Qingli, but Niu Shan wound up stuck in the middle, caught in an impossible dilemma.

These two won were Big Brother’s love interests—who was he supposed to side with? This conundrum left Niu Shan trying to suppress a bitter smile as he finally understood what it ant to be caught between two opposing forces.

anwhile, Qin Wei was just about to act when he suddenly felt a light pat on his shoulder. Turning around, he saw Long Yan’s smiling face behind him. From Long Yan’s luxurious attire, Qin Wei assud this man had so status. Suppressing his usual arrogance, Qin Wei asked Long Yan what he wanted.

After all, spending ti around cultivators had sharpened Qin Wei’s vision; he wasn’t entirely without discretion. Elder Tiancheng’s raised voice had already drawn the attention of onlookers. If Qin Wei let Elder Tiancheng go, others might make excuses to avoid paying, which would translate into lost profits for Qin Wei.

“My na is Long Yan. I’m here to save you—because you’re about to land yourself in a heap of trouble.”

Long Yan’s words were ant to intimidate, but Qin Wei scoffed in response. A heap of trouble? What a joke. He had the City Lord as his brother-in-law! Although the Tianshan Sect wielded significant authority in Tianshan City, the City Lord wasn’t entirely powerless.

What trouble could he possibly be in?

Still, Long Yan wasn’t entirely wrong—provoking an elder of Shu Mountain ant Qin Wei was indeed treading precariously close to disaster. Even if Long Yan revealed Elder Tiancheng’s identity, it was doubtful Qin Wei would believe him.

“Let guess—you’ve been struggling with digestive issues lately, facing one mishap after another, and even in the cloud-and-rain affairs, things aren’t quite as satisfying as they used to be, huh?”

Long Yan spoke with a straight face, fabricating every word. Yet when he ntioned the “cloud-and-rain affairs,” several nearby won blushed deeply, spat in his direction, and turned away shyly. Unfazed, Long Yan remained poised and unperturbed, giving off the aura of a transcendent sage.

Qin Wei frowned, glancing suspiciously at Long Yan. Now that he thought about it, those issues really had been plaguing him recently. His expression turned grim, and he pointed at Long Yan, shouting.

“How do you know this?”
