Chapter 2357: Chapter 2347: Shocking Secret
“Young man, can we negotiate sothing?”
Bone Sky suddenly spoke up. Even this centuries-old monster couldn’t help feeling a pang of fear, so much so that he abandoned the dignity of a strong one to negotiate with Long Yan.
“You let go, and I’ll spare everyone here. How about that?”
Seeing Long Yan’s curious gaze, Bone Sky hurriedly added. He was scared—terrified of death. In Bone Sky’s mind, nothing was more frightening than dying.
Sealed in Gu Wu’s eyes by Master Shanhe for decades, he could still chat with Gu Wu during idle tis. But if he died, everything would truly be gone. As long as he was alive, in a few more years his wicked cultivation would reach Mahayana again, and no one would be able to stop him. It was this fear of death that made Bone Sky shafully surrender.
“Now this is amusing. You wave your hand to kill so many people, but you’re afraid of dying yourself?”
“Of course. When you’re dead, you have nothing at all.”
Bone Sky now displayed an unabashed deanor—after all, there was no sha in cherishing one’s own life. But this sparked a new curiosity in Long Yan’s mind.
“So, are you using the lives of these people to threaten ?”
With his deep-set eyes fixed on Long Yan, Bone Sky declared, “If I wish, I can kill everyone in this house faster than you. If I choose mutual destruction, you wouldn’t have even a chance to escape—you’d die here with . So, what do you think? Care to reconsider?”
But instead of being intimidated, Long Yan dismissed him outright.
“What do the deaths of people in this house have to do with ? You’ve already killed Lei Bai. If you go ahead and kill Chairman Zhao, the Yann Comrce Association might dominate the Qin Dynasty’s Comrcial Associations directly. Why should I agree to your terms?”
Long Yan didn’t believe that soone so fearful of death would actually choose mutual destruction. With the Vermilion Bird Mystic under his control, escaping wouldn’t be a problem for Long Yan—Bone Sky wouldn’t be able to stop him.
After hearing Long Yan’s words, Bone Sky paused, and then laughed out loud. In truth, Bone Sky felt that he and Long Yan were cut from the sa cloth—classic selfish survivalists who wouldn’t do anything unless it benefitted them.
“Then how about I kill everyone in this house for you? That way, your Yann Comrce Association could directly unify the Qin Dynasty’s Comrcial Associations, and we can go our separate ways. How about pretending today never happened?”
While Bone Sky felt smug, his skeletal face betrayed no emotion. Yet Long Yan shook his head again, leaving Bone Sky with a trace of frustration. If this wasn’t acceptable, and that wasn’t either, then what did Long Yan really want?
“Promises won’t cut it. Show sothing tangible.”
Long Yan narrowed his eyes slightly, rubbing his fingers together repeatedly. Bone Sky appeared to understand his aning, but this left Bone Sky in a dilemma. Before his death, everything—including his storage ring—had been taken by those so-called righteous sects. Even Gu Wu’s storage ring had been shattered to pieces by Long Yan’s ti bomb.
Currently, Bone Sky was poverty-stricken—he had nothing he could offer.
“Alright, how about this: I’ll tell you two secrets. Can you let go then?”
Bone Sky, reduced to nothing but a skeletal fra, nonetheless showed a hint of hesitation on his face—a hesitation that Long Yan sohow managed to discern. It seed like Bone Sky truly had sothing worth revealing. Long Yan casually dug his finger in his ear.
“Go ahead—let’s hear it!”
Long Yan pulled up a stool, resembling a teacher in a classroom about to check students’ howork. Bone Sky didn’t seem to mind and slowly began revealing his two secrets.
“The first secret is that, in two days, it will be ti for the once-every-twenty-year Tianshan Conference—the grandest event for young people in the Qin Dynasty. Normally, very few people participate, but for so reason lately, there’s been a surge of geniuses appearing. Many of them are far stronger than even the children of noble families. This year’s Tianshan Conference is set to be the most formidable in history.”
Bone Sky looked at Long Yan with a smile, sensing that with Long Yan’s ability, he surely wouldn’t miss the excitent. After all, Bone Sky’s own strength at Long Yan’s age hadn’t been nearly as remarkable, even while cultivating wicked arts. This made Bone Sky marvel at Long Yan’s potential.
“This doesn’t really sound like a secret, does it?”
Long Yan pondered seriously. Having ascended after breaking through the seal left by Emperor Ye, Long Yan wondered if he had sparked a butterfly effect. The Sacred Domain had rarely seen anyone ascend lately, but Long Yan was the exception. Yet he still didn’t know the exact cause behind all of this.
“This is just sothing everyone in the Sacred Domain knows. I don’t see how it’s particularly compelling.”
Long Yan’s cold tone made Bone Sky tremble. For a mont, Bone Sky wanted to lash out, but knowing his life was firmly in Long Yan’s grasp, he restrained himself.
After pausing briefly, Bone Sky continued.
“Of course, that’s only half the explanation. The key lies in this year’s prizes. The victors will be rewarded with three Tianshan Orders!”
When Bone Sky ntioned the Tianshan Orders, Long Yan’s eyes suddenly narrowed. Back when the Yann Comrce Association was expanding its territory, Long Yan had researched the Sacred Domain extensively. The Tianshan Sect was considered a legendary sect, recruiting only five disciples annually—each a prodigy.
Although the total population of Tianshan Sect could be counted on two hands, each disciple was imnsely powerful. More importantly, the Tianshan Sect dared to claim to be the second strongest first-class sect, a position with no contender for first—a distinction unparalleled in its audacity.
Furthermore, Tianshan Sect’s disciples were regarded as so of the foremost righteous cultivators in the Cultivation World. The Tianshan Order, which originated from this sect, granted absolute immunity: in any confrontation, flashing a Tianshan Order would prompt Tianshan Sect to provide unyielding vengeance on the bearer’s behalf. Hence, the Tianshan Order was colloquially known as the “Death Exemption Token.”
It was said that a prince of the Qin Dynasty had once killed a bearer of a Tianshan Order, only to be assassinated by mbers of the sect in the Imperial Palace. Even the Qin Dynasty dared not provoke Tianshan Sect further, so the matter was quietly hushed up.
Given this, Long Yan was naturally skeptical about the Tianshan Orders’ existence. Commanding the full force of Tianshan Sect with just one of these tokens sounded implausible, but Bone Sky’s serious tone made Long Yan believe it might be true.
“Looks like Tianshan Sect has so significant plans brewing.”
Long Yan committed the matter to mory. One month from now, he would certainly go to investigate. However, he was still curious about the second secret.
“What’s the next secret then?”
Bone Sky’s fiery eye sockets quivered slightly, as though he had recalled sothing unpleasant.
“If I’m not mistaken, you have a sword on you. Am I right?”
