He Jinxia paused, mulled it over carefully, and solemnly replied, "I think it’s very worthwhile."
Cheng Xiaohua said, "I can’t understand, is this movie really that good? Brother Luo must have figured it out, I asked him, but he refused to tell , he’s so annoying."
He Jinxia silently mused to herself, No, no, no, teasing you is his daily source of joy.
However, when it ca to important matters, Luo You would not conceal anything from Cheng Xiaohua, only on so insignificant matters would he occasionally tease Sister Xiao Hua, under the noble guise of cultivating Sister Xiao Hua’s thinking abilities, encouraging her to ponder and analyze on her own.
But in He Jinxia’s view, it seed that Luo You had not found the sense of achievent in being an agent in her; instead, he found it with Sister Xiao Hua and thus...
Cringe.
He Jinxia had no desire to tease Sister Xiao Hua; she seriously answered her question, "Actually, this movie didn’t reach an earth-shatteringly emotional level. The reason I agreed to such a low remuneration is firstly because it’s Director Liu’s film."
"You should know Director Liu’s reputation without saying it; in the TV drama industry, he’s very distinguished," she added.
"The second reason is that Director Liu ntioned to that most of the investnt for this movie would go toward special effects. Therefore, the actors’ remuneration would be sowhat reduced. He wants to do a good job with this movie."
He Jinxia pondered for a mont as if recalling sothing and continued, "He brought this up before I had accepted the role, and we hadn’t signed any contracts at that ti. If I didn’t want to act due to low pay, I could back out at any ti.
"I really appreciated Director Liu’s honesty. He didn’t use the fact I had verbally agreed to act in his drama to threaten into performing, nor did he deceptively lower my pay."
Seeing that Sister Xiao Hua was about to say sothing, He Jinxia interjected, "I know you think Director Liu still took advantage of . Most people would think that. However, I have interacted with Director Liu, and his character wouldn’t stoop to cheating in such matters, and I’ve discussed it with Qiu Zhenze—he is getting paid even less than ."
This ca up in their casual conversation the night before. Knowing that Qiu Zhenze also accepted a low remuneration made He Jinxia all the more confident in Director Liu’s commitnt to making a good film.
"As for the third point, it’s also the most significant reason why I was willing to take on this film: the script is quite good. I saw a lot of interesting things in it, and I really wanted to act in it, so I made the decision to shoot it without any hesitation," she explained.
"When I decided to take the role, I didn’t consider the pay at all. After all, I started as a newcor in acting too, and there were tis when my pay was very low. Back when I received a small salary, I lived quite well, and now, no matter what, my pay is higher than it was before, and I’m quite happy with that and have no complaints.
"For , remuneration is not as important as being part of a good production. If a movie is good enough to excite , I would perform even for no pay at all."
He Jinxia finished expressing her thoughts in one breath and then quietly watched Sister Xiao Hua, waiting for her questions.
Sister Xiao Hua seed a bit stunned, taking a while to digest the aning in He Jinxia’s words. Her lips parted as if she wanted to say sothing, but after struggling for a long ti, she managed to squeeze out, "You’re so down-to-earth."
In the end, she emphatically stressed again, "You’re the most down-to-earth star I’ve ever t."
He Jinxia "pfft" laughed; she thought Sister Xiao Hua was about to say sothing else!
She patted Sister Xiao Hua’s shoulder, smiling, "It’s late, you should head back and rest."
After saying goodbye to Cheng Xiaohua, He Jinxia quickly went into her room, took a shower, and felt the delicate touch of hot water cascading over her body. It was then that she began to feel gradually revitalized, and the sensation of her body feeling weightless also improved greatly.
After her shower, she lay comfortably in bed with a strong desire to fall asleep coursing through her mind. However, she could not yet succumb to sleep so quickly as there was sothing pending her attention.
Fighting off drowsiness, He Jinxia initiated a voice call to Sheng Yan; soon enough, the call was picked up.
Sheng Yan’s voice was as cold and clear as ever, tinged with a raspy undercurrent, indicating a sore throat, "Hello?"
He Jinxia: "You’ve caught a cold, too?"
Sheng Yan: "Yes."
After saying this, he added another sentence, "Contagious infection, soul connection."
He Jinxia: "...That line of romance is a bit awkward, I suggest you try a different one next ti."
Sheng Yan’s words carried a hint of amusent, "As you command, my lady."
He Jinxia cleared her throat lightly and decided to take the initiative, not waiting passively for Mr. Sheng to flirt, she asked, "I heard that Tonghua Entertainnt is currently preparing a large-scale girl group reality show and will start shooting soon, aiming to air during the sumr holidays, to hit the sumr peak season, and striving to create a blockbuster program, right?"
Sheng Yan responded with a faint "Hmm."
He Jinxia hesitated for a mont, but in a few seconds, her resolve fird up, she said, "Would you be interested in a challenge?"
Sheng Yan’s gaze beca focused, "What do you an?"
He Jinxia: "I have soone I want to deal with. It’s difficult for to make a move against her within Tonghua Entertainnt; strictly speaking, she’s considered an aging employee there.
To not affect my upcoming plans, I want her to leave Tonghua Entertainnt, yet I hesitate, thinking if this person is truly devoted to Tonghua Entertainnt and extrely useful to the company, then would my decision be a mistake?"
Sheng Yan’s slightly furrowed brows relaxed, asking with interest, "Extrely useful to the company?"
He Jinxia nodded, "Yes, although her character is not great, her professional skills are sound. I am unsure if losing this talent will impact the company."
A quiet smile curved at the corner of Sheng Yan’s lips.
Perhaps even Jinxia herself hadn’t realized that when she made decisions, she now included Sheng Yan in her considerations. In her life, she had to think not only about her own gains and losses but also about how her actions would affect Sheng Yan.
This was a significant progress.
A sense of gratification suddenly rose in Sheng Yan’s heart. All the subtle hints he had been dropping to He Jinxia over the past year hadn’t gone to waste. Today would be the day to reap the fruits of his labor; Jinxia had always had him in her heart!
In their relationship, although he was the colder one, he was the proactive party; Jinxia had always been pushed forward by him.
Sheng Yan had originally thought that it would take several more years of effort after they got married for him to gradually beco a part of Jinxia’s life. He hadn’t expected to have achieved this already, how could he not be happy?
He Jinxia waited for a while, but when she didn’t receive an answer from Sheng Yan, she felt even more hesitant and wondered if her train of thought was correct.
As much as she wanted to deal with Zhang Yingru, considering Zhang’s individual capability, her presence in the company would indeed create much value.
Brother Luo was right about one thing; Zhang Yingru had rich experience in managing girl groups. Even though everyone in the company knew she was decisive and ruthless, and that she was sowhat unscrupulous in her thods, no one challenged her.
Because if soone else were to take her place, certainly no one would do it as well as Zhang Yingru!
