Sheng Yan was about to have a birthday, and He Jinxia didn’t find out until the next day.

Today, while filming, Wu Daxi got into a good state and had a thrilling act with He Jinxia, which greatly improved efficiency. This also allowed He Jinxia to enjoy a full and leisurely two-hour lunch break.

Busy with filming and discussing contracts yesterday, He Jinxia didn’t get the chance to check her ssages until she was resting in her room at noon the following day.

The first thing that caught her eye was a call from Mrs. Sheng and Aunt Rui. After considering it for a mont, He Jinxia simply initiated a group call in the chat.

As soon as the call connected, Mrs. He and Aunt Rui anxiously checked in on her, asking if she had enough to eat and wear on set, whether she had been injured, and if filming was tiring...

They bombarded her with questions, and He Jinxia silently listened to them finish before patiently answering each one, not feeling bothered at all.

The warmth of family affection, trickling into the heart like a gentle stream, was sothing she had never experienced in her previous life, so He Jinxia treasured it imnsely.

As she spoke, she scrolled through the group chat history and noticed that both her mother and Aunt Rui wanted to see how she looked now. After considering, she left the voice call and started a video chat with multiple people in the group instead.

It was quite the coincidence that both mothers were together, indulging in a facial SPA treatnt.

Seeing that both faces were covered with bamboo charcoal masks, looking like coal miners, He Jinxia laughed unkindly.

At that mont, Sheng Yan was urgently summoned online by his mother and joined the video call, just in ti to see He Jinxia’s smile bloom like flowers.

She really lost a lot of weight, her plump double chin gone, her face slimd down remarkably, making her features more defined and striking. Only her eyes remained unchanged, as bright and dazzling as ever.

The smiling woman’s eyes slightly curved, her graceful phoenix eyes almost crescent-shaped, as if twinkling with brilliant stars.

Sheng Yan’s eyes darkened involuntarily.

As He Jinxia kept smiling, she heard the sound of soone joining the video call. Glancing aside, she saw Sheng Yan and naturally asked, "Master, what would you like for your birthday present?"

As soon as she said it, both of them were stunned.

He Jinxia was stunned because she blurted out the private nickna she had for Sheng Yan as soon as she saw him.

Even amid his busy schedule, Sheng Yan would occasionally find ti to give her so acting advice.

Since acting was her livelihood, his instruction established a kind of teacher-student relationship, and in He Jinxia’s heart, she regarded Sheng Yan as a master.

Sheng Yan was stunned because, though he had been called ’teacher’ by countless people, this was the first ti soone referred to him as ’master,’ and it felt sowhat... fresh.

After a few seconds, Sheng Yan’s deep and llow voice flowed from the phone, "Just give sothing casual."

Mrs. Sheng and Mrs. He, who had kept quiet, intending to eavesdrop openly, couldn’t hold back when Sheng Yan spoke.

"Give what? You’ve got people tripping over themselves to give you gifts every day of the year. Do you really need Jinxia’s little present?" Mrs. Sheng couldn’t help but scold her son, silently criticizing him for not knowing how to chase a girl. She turned her head toward He Jinxia and quickly said, "Jinxia, you don’t need to give a present, we’re family; there’s no need for such politeness!"

When the elder spoke, He Jinxia, as the younger one, of course, nodded in agreent on the surface.

It was Sheng Yan, though, who frowned slightly, sensing the deeper aning in Mrs. Sheng’s words.

He pretended to carelessly glance at He Jinxia, noticing how obediently she listened to Mrs. Sheng, nodding now and then, so sensible it made one want to pinch her cheek.

Seeing her like this, Sheng Yan suddenly smiled softly, realizing he had overthought things.

If He Jinxia were interested in him, her deanor wouldn’t be so calm.

When a woman truly admires a man, her face and eyes tend to show it, even if she is trying to hide it, Sheng Yan believed he was absolutely capable of noticing.

This wasn’t due to being seasoned in the affairs of the heart, but rather the experience accumulated from acting in many romantic dramas.

After the two families exchanged pleasantries for a while, He Jinxia took the initiative to hang up the phone.

She stroked the now-dark screen of her phone, a touch of contemplation flashing across her eyes.

What should I give him as a gift...

You have to admit, it’s a pretty complex issue.

A birthday present is definitely in order, considering Sheng Yan had helped her out; not giving anything would make her seem heartless.

Suddenly, a bright idea struck He Jinxia, and her eyes lit up.

As soone from ancient tis, she didn’t quite understand modern gift-giving customs, but that didn’t an others didn’t, right? Brother Luo was also a guy; why not just ask for his opinion?

So, after filming that afternoon, Luo You was specifically dragged by He Jinxia to the company eting room to consult him on the gift issue.

"Hey, it’s just a birthday gift, what’s so difficult about that? I thought you had changed your mind about sothing serious and needed to discuss it with !" Luo You said, muttering the latter part sowhat indistinctly.

A smile crept up on the corners of He Jinxia’s mouth as she sat next to Luo You, casually saying, "Brother Luo, my mind is made up, so there’s no need to try and persuade anymore."

Luo You glanced at her incredulously, still having his own unresolved thoughts... Did his brain get caught in a door for him to agree on the spot to help her with the company’s counter-proposal? After going ho and sleeping on it, the more Luo You thought about it, the more nervous and regretful he felt.

He woke up early that morning and sent a text ssage to He Jinxia, suggesting she reconsider. However, He Jinxia was very decisive, sending a voice ssage back, saying there was no need to think it over and that they should go ahead with it.

Seeing this, as anxious as Luo You felt, he had no choice but to reluctantly start preparing the necessary materials for He Jinxia.

He waved his hand and sighed, "I get it, I get it. I’ll help you collect the information and try to persuade the company executives. At the latest, I’ll et with the CEO within three days to present your request."

"But think it over carefully. Once I’ve ntioned it to the CEO, there’s no turning back. Once the bow is drawn, there’s no unshooting the arrow. You can’t back out. If the counteroffer is made and you don’t want to sign due to the huge potential loss, I really can’t bear to lose face by begging the executives to revert to the original contract."

He Jinxia gave him a sidelong glance and suddenly asked, "Are you really not willing to lose face to beg?"

Luo You choked on his words, his expression instantly becoming stiff. Not willing?

Of course he was willing!

Especially if He Jinxia failed the bet in three years, it would affect his salary too, wouldn’t it!

Just as he was about to respond, the next second, He Jinxia chid in with a smile, "Even if you were willing, I wouldn’t change my decision to take the bet."

Luo You: "..." Damn, he suddenly felt the urge to hit soone!

Seeing Luo You fall silent, He Jinxia reached out and patted his shoulder, "Just kidding, no need to be so tense."

Luo You: "..." He felt an even stronger urge to hit soone, truly!!

He Jinxia’s smile faded as she got down to business.

"That guy is a relative of mine; my mom just got in contact with them this year. Our two families have a good relationship, and the other family is quite well-off; they’re not lacking in funds, and the guy is successful in his career. What kind of gift should I give?"
