Even though everyone in the team had different personalities, so being capricious and willful, others timid and unconfident, so selfish, and so highly envious... ng Wan had already beco accustod to tolerating them and viewed them as her own sisters.
This is what a team is: everyone in the team is family, not just individual entities.
That’s why ng Wan felt extrely guilty about what happened to He Jinxia. If she had known what Zhang Yingru and Li Zimu had done to He Jinxia, she would have definitely stepped in to stop them, unlike Wen Ningning who chose to ignore it.
He Jinxia gently patted ng Wan, who was crying in her arms, her expression slightly changing before she calmly said as if nothing was wrong, "How did you find out?"
ng Wan, choking with sobs, intermittently recounted how she had returned to the dormitory after recording the program and overheard a conversation between Zhang Yingru and Li Zimu in the corridor.

"That night, I thought about a lot of things, trying hard to figure out why you would leave the team. You previously told my parents that the current JY is not the JY it used to be. I didn’t believe it, but the truth told I was wrong. It seems like the five years of effort was all just a dream..."
"I was very uneasy, I didn’t know what to do. I wanted to find you to clarify things, but you had already flown to the US, and I couldn’t get through to your phone. Then I, I called my brother."
ng Wan talked a bit incoherently, her emotions unstable, sotis repeating a sentence seven or eight tis. After listening for a while, He Jinxia finally understood that her brother had investigated and found so issues after knowing about it.
Then her brother also checked the information of Li Zimu and Zhang Yingru, and found out that Li Zimu used to buy vitamins periodically, but he stopped buying them imdiately after He Jinxia left the team.
This was very suspicious. Having taken vitamins for a full two years, it was too coincidental that he stopped precisely when He Jinxia left, wasn’t it?

Turns out, Wen Ningning knew two years ago that Li Zimu had been regularly giving He Jinxia so pills, and those pills were not vitamins but a type of drug that caused uncontrollable weight gain.
ng Wan was shocked when she found out and confronted Wen Ningning on why she did not stop it. Wen Ningning turned it around and began to pour out her grievances:
"I wanted to stop it, Wanwan. I really thought about stopping it, but He Jinxia’s temperant, ever since she gained weight, has been so unpredictable, like a ticking ti bomb. Who knew when she might explode? Did you ever think whether she was suitable to continue staying in the team?"
"Li Zimu ca to , crying and saying that she also felt sorry for He Jinxia. What she did was to make He Jinxia face the difficulties and leave early by asking for a termination herself, wanting her to recognize her own status early."
When everything was exposed, Wen Ningning shifted all the responsibility onto Li Zimu:

"If you had left the team earlier, you would not have encountered such dirty affairs. Thank goodness you’re unhard..."
He Jinxia suddenly said, "I won’t leave the team."
ng Wan stared at her blankly.
He Jinxia stared back, saying word by word, "Back then, no matter what, I would not have left the team. I loved that stage, even if my body kept getting worse, I absolutely would not have left the team."
ng Wan’s lips parted slightly, at a loss for words.
It turned out that He Jinxia had eventually left the team, so why was she now saying she wouldn’t leave the team?
Another thing that puzzled ng Wan was, if Li Zimu really looked down on Jinxia so much, why didn’t he just kick her out?
As long as Zhang Yingru agreed, He Jinxia, no matter how reluctant, would have to leave. The penalty for breach of contract was not high; kicking soone out was completely affordable.
ng Wan’s mind was in chaos. All the information she had was told to her by Wen Ningning, and even Wen Ningning didn’t know many things. ng Wan wanted to ask He Jinxia what had really happened back then, but the words just wouldn’t co out.
Jinxia, having a rebound in her career and having moved on from the past, might not want to rember those things. Why should ng Wan keep peeling off her scars?
He Jinxia stood up, poured herself a cup of water, and cald the tumultuous thoughts in her heart, "You’ve left the team, what are you going to do next? Has Zhang Yingru talked to you?"
ng Wan was silent for a while, her voice very soft, "I’m thinking of leaving the entertainnt circle."
He Jinxia was taken aback, "Are you sure?"
ng Wan didn’t speak.
He Jinxia thought for a mont and then said, "Wanwan, I know your heart was hurt by the JY incident, but you can’t completely deny all the effort you’ve put in over the years because of it. There are people in the entertainnt circle who are ruthless, but there are also many who are striving to improve. Ask your heart, do you still want to stand on stage?"
The atmosphere was quiet until, after a long ti, ng Wan’s voice finally filled the room—
"Jinxia, after struggling for so long, I thought I was happy, but I’ve realized that I’ve been tired for a long ti."
