After it repeated three tis, the chanical voice suddenly shifted, and the voice of the mysterious person took on a sly and ghastly tone, "Hee-hee-hee! The true victim has been murdered, welco to the massacre mode! Indulge in the endless slaughter, you ants, hee-hee-hee!"
He Jinxia’s heart skipped a beat, and at the sa ti, Lin Qingzhu was struggling desperately to break free from Wang Tao’s restraint!
Her mind seed to work faster than at any other mont, and He Jinxia seized the opportunity to press the button on Lin Qingzhu’s shoulder during a brief opening.
Red goo burst out at that mont, heralding Lin Qingzhu’s death.
Ten seconds later, the earpieces of everyone rang out once more with a chanical monotone:
"Warning! The murderer is dead! Warning! The murderer is dead! Warning! The murderer is dead!"
This ti, there was no interjection from the mysterious person; instead, the machine relayed the following rules in its flat tone:
"Both murderer and victim are dead, making it impossible to determine a winner; now entering ’find the accomplice’ mode, with no more restrictions for anyone, allowing for a free-for-all. The ga officially ends when either all ordinary people are dead or the accomplice dies."
Wang Tao’s voice murmured close by, "Accomplice?"
He Jinxia’s eyes also reflected bewildernt.
Lying on the ground pretending to be a corpse, Lin Qingzhu licked the splattered goo off his mouth, smacked his lips, and said, "Isn’t it clear yet? There’s a traitor among you, covertly aiding ."
He Jinxia suddenly realized.
No wonder she found Ren Xiao’s behavior strange from the start of the event in the villa; he turned out to be the accomplice.
He Jinxia wore a wry smile on her face, free from anger at being played by the showrunners, feeling instead a sudden clarity upon knowing the whole truth.
She exclaid, "How can you ever outplay the showrunners!"
She thought she had everything under control, without any surprises, only to find out it was "a village beyond the dark willows and bright flowers"!
Without delay, she and Wang Tao regrouped, ready to set off with fierce determination on the journey to capture the traitor, while Lin Qingzhu and Ouyang Baoer, who were "dead," were not taken away by the staff to another location but continued to wander the supermarket as "Ghosts."
They did not partake in the verbal confrontations but could speak and, when necessary, could signal their teammates – a fact that those still in battle were not aware of.
Later on, He Jinxia encountered Ren Xiao on the third floor twice. The first ti, Ren Xiao successfully evaded her, and the second ti, under the aid of "Ghost Lin Qingzhu," he narrowly escaped.
When He Jinxia ca across Ren Xiao, Lin Qingzhu was also coincidentally on the other end of the aisle.
Jinxia saw Lin Qingzhu and looked at him in shock, wondering how he could still be on the battlefield, wasn’t he already dead beyond resurrection, Lin Qingzhu, carrying the montum of a whirlwind, quickly ran towards her shouting:
"Ren Xiao, you run first, I’ll block her for you!"
Seizing the opportunity, Ren Xiao hurriedly ran in another direction, while He Jinxia stood her ground, defending against Lin Qingzhu.
But once Lin Qingzhu reached her, he imdiately started hopping in place to slow down, not charging forward nor blocking her anymore.
He Jinxia was sowhat baffled by his actions and asked with furrowed brows, "What are you trying to do?"
Lin Qingzhu looked up to the sky and stretched his limbs, "Oh, ? I’m a Ghost, as the embodint of unresolved resentnt, I’m free to drift around in the Mortal World."
He Jinxia broke out in a sweat.
"So, you’re now... trying to interfere with matters in the Mortal World?"
Lin Qingzhu quickly shook his head, saying, "No, no, no, I’m an honest Ghost who sticks to his duties, nothing more than scaring people."
He Jinxia was silent for a while, "Then what about just now?"
Lin Qingzhu turned to look at her, his face breaking into a smug grin, "I was just scaring you!"
He Jinxia: "..."
For the first ti in her life, she so dearly wanted to curse!
He Jinxia glared at Lin Qingzhu, too exasperated to scold, and could only shake her head helplessly before leaving.
How to play, you still can’t outplay the production team, huh...
The three of them, with two "Ghosts," engaged in a battle of wits. They put on several acts of espionage and counter-espionage until, with five minutes left on the clock, He Jinxia and Wang Tao successfully cornered Ren Xiao and forcefully pressed the button on his shoulder—
"GA OVER! The ga is over!"
This the competition, which had lasted from morning to evening, ca to a satisfying conclusion under the wonderful performance of the two new guests and three regular guests.
After dinner in the evening, everyone stayed and rested in the guesthouse.
Due to the intense recording of the show and the great expenditure of energy, they would rest for a day tomorrow.
To ensure ample rest for the celebrities, the production team generously booked an entire guesthouse. The guesthouse was surrounded by beautiful scenery, and its interior was arranged in a warm and harmonious manner, visually providing a treat.
After taking a bath, Ouyang Baoer ca knocking at the door, suggesting they sit outside for a while, have a chat, a bite, and gather all the mbers together.
Seeing Ouyang Baoer speaking so casually, He Jinxia guessed that this was a regular activity for the show’s participants, so she nodded and said she’d join them shortly.
Once ready, He Jinxia stepped out of the guesthouse and saw them seated around a large table outside. The others had already arrived; only she was left to show up.
The table was laden with a pile of fruits and snacks, looking tempting and stirring up her appetite.
As she approached, she noticed they were chatting when suddenly, as if by agreent, they all looked up at the sky, and a buzz arose from the crowd.
Out of curiosity, He Jinxia also looked up to see a bright streak trail a long, shiny tail across the sky—a teor!
So many teors... This place even had a teor shower!
Without thinking twice, He Jinxia hurriedly grabbed her phone to video call Sheng Yan, aiming the cara at the sky.
As soon as Sheng Yan answered the call, before he could speak, he was srized by the splendid spread of teors overhead.
One teor after another fell, dragging dazzling tails across the sky. Because they fell so swiftly, the luminous trails, like strings of LED lights, flashed by montarily, not lingering long in people’s vision.
Yet, the sky was teeming with falling stars, creating a dense teor shower. Even though it disappeared quickly, it was a feast for the eyes.
It felt like a long ti had passed, yet it seed to happen in an instant; the teor shower was gone.
The phone screen flipped to He Jinxia’s face filling the screen, dominating it entirely.
Even though the angle wasn’t flattering, Sheng Yan found her adorable.
Extrely adorable, stunningly so.
His lips curved slightly, tracing a faint smile, his cool voice tinged with a warmth unique to her:
"The news reported last week that tonight, between eight and nine, we’d witness a once-in-thirty-years massive teor shower. The main fall zone is in the southeastern part of Huaxia. Since the pri viewing ti was quite early, many chose to watch it from the mountains. I didn’t expect you could see the teor shower so clearly from where you’re not in the mountains."
Sheng Yan’s voice softened: "Why didn’t you make a wish?"
This silly girl must have started the video call as soon as she saw the teor, holding up the phone the whole ti, not giving herself a mont to close her eyes and make a wish.
In the video, He Jinxia’s eyes sparkled like stars, the corners lifted with joy, she cheerfully said, "I didn’t make a wish. When I saw the teor shower, I just instinctively called you to show you."
Sheng Yan: "Do you regret it?"
He Jinxia shook her head softly: "Not at all."
I wanted to share this splendid view with you, to have you share in the amazent and joy, to have you experience this mont with .
In my eyes, you outshine any beautiful scene.
