Chapter 961: Chapter 19: Physicians Cannot Heal Themselves (2)

But when not in battle, it’s also nice to lead an ordinary life.

·

At the sa ti, in the Ustus Federation.

“Wow~” Gongsun Ce exclaid, “It’s truly a dramatic transformation in style!”

The Dawn Star had just crossed the boundary line between the Burning Snow State and the chanical State. Not too long ago, the airship was still bathing in the cold ash falling from the sky; each snowflake brought with it clusters of ghostly blue flas, as if navigating the boilers of sin burning deep in hell. Yet now, five minutes later, everyone was flying over an endless expanse of primordial jungle. The deep green that spread across the earth was darker than the color of sumr leaves, with countless sturdy brown branches faintly appearing within the green shade, like serpents hiding in the sea of trees.

The giant dragon terrain between the two states was distinctly divided in a way that defied intuition, as if a God had drawn an invisible “line” across the land; on one side of the line was the green ocean of trees, and on the other was the ghostly blue frozen land, with both sides not crossing the taphorical divide. Yet the snowflakes of Burning Snow State continued to burn quietly on the deck as if indicating that everything was just a misunderstanding by humans, that nature itself operates under its own rules.

“So hot!” Qiluo was hurriedly removing her winter clothes. The temperature here was even higher than in Colorful Stone City in the wastelands, and the humidity surpassed that of the Empire’s southern regions. Gongsun Ce also took off his coat and asked, “Shall we first visit the capital of this state?”

“Guess what the capital of the chanical State is called?” Shiyu Ling teased with a mischievous smile.

The major cities on the Xuan Ci State side are nad with stones, so the cities here in the chanical State must be related to trees… Just by looking at her smile, you could tell that thinking along such inertia was a big mistake! The key point should lie in the peculiar “chanism” character, indicating that the core of this state’s cities should be “chanical”!

“Airship City.” Qin Qianbai answered quickly.

“Lawnmower City!” Gongsun Ce was not to be outdone.

Alandia was looking at the large map on the side, and feeling the hopeful gazes from the two, she raised her head and said, “The correct answer is Hundred Birds City.”

“That’s so strange…” “What does that even an!”

The two who failed to guess were dejectedly leaning against the railing, and Qiluo curiously asked, “So, is the Transformation Spirit of the chanical State a bird?”

“Of course not, it’s plants.”

Shiyu Ling’s palm flashed blue, producing a leaf. She randomly poked a few holes in the leaf, put it to her lips, and used it as a leaf flute to play. The rough leaf flute initially emitted no tuneful sound, but after a few attempts, the holes automatically changed in size and adjusted position, making the flute sound lodious and clear, allowing the long-lasting lody to play.

Gongsun Ce listened closely and caught so wing-flapping noises between the flute sounds. “Look down!” Qiluo exclaid. They all leaned down to look beneath the ship, witnessing dense green rising from the forest as if a part of the forest heard the flute sound and joyfully ascended into the sky on the breeze. The wind was brimming with vigorous life force, each patch of green was a leaf, and hundreds of natural spirits were dancing in the air, circling around the ship.

Shiyu Ling released the leaf flute, allowing it to rge into the green wind. “To Hundred Bird City,” she commanded. The leaves redirected their course, transforming into a rope suspended in the air, guiding the airship deeper into the forest. The flute sound continued, growing more harmonious with each mont, as Gongsun Ce noticed the leaves were morphing into slightly different leaf flutes upon the arrival of new mbers. Thus, the wind blew through thousands of holes, performing a brand-new symphony over the forest.

Sighs spread across the deck. Qin Qianbai gazed at the rare sight, her eyes shining brightly: “Green wind guides leaves with ship astern, sumr flute’s myriad sounds enter forest depths.”

“The young lady’s poetry is flourishing indeed,” Gongsun Ce noted with pen in hand, “I’ll have it frad in the living room.”

“You are not allowed to write it down!”

Gongsun Ce playfully dodged his girlfriend’s playful swats, then turned and asked, “Is this the origin of the chanical State’s na? Plants self-growing into unique structures?”

Shiyu Ling, finding a rare opportunity to flaunt her knowledge, explained proudly to the crowd: “That’s right, most plants here can be cultivated into useful machines. Locals grow cars, houses, and airships from plants. Just like the people of Xuan Ci State learn hands-on before establishing electromagnetism, the people of the chanical State mimic chanical structures from nature first, then develop knowledge related to chanical design.”

“This is truly nature’s great masterpiece.”

They quieted down, silently admiring the green leaf wind. The leaf flute symphony grew increasingly louder and joyful as they proceeded, and an unmissable spectacle gradually erged in sight. It was a pillar-shaped shadow connecting the sky and earth, obscured by clouds and invisible. Just as Gongsun Ce was about to examine it closely, the leaf flutes suddenly dispersed after a unified sound. The symphony ended on its strong final note, with the scattering leaf flutes carrying away the clouds, revealing the shadow’s true form fully.

It was a giant tree reaching skyward and grounded!

Its crown stood above the clouds, vast and expansive, like a giant’s umbrella; its countless branches stretched out in all directions, forming a series of green “islands” erging from the main trunk; architectural groups akin to modern cities were established atop the islands, above the slopes of the trunk, like civilization’s colorful attire woven artificially atop the ancient tree. Nurous light spots darted among the clouds, carrying a familiar civilized aura; they were airships in various colors traversing the giant canopy, like hundreds of birds returning to nests in the tree.
