Chapter 790: Chapter 30: No Need for Assistance (Part 2)

Jane Della left after introducing the situation, looking back expectantly before departing, as if pleading with him to clear the na of an old friend, so she can atone for her guilt.

Gongsun Ce felt a heavier responsibility on his shoulders, but more than that, he felt anger. He understood why people would think this way, and it was exactly such understanding that made him angry. It was the sa back in Cangdu, where soone always spread rumors saying that Big Brother was trying to curry favor with the authorities, that he was doing all this to establish his high-pressure rule…

Fools always use their own prejudice and malice to speculate about those who are truly noble! That’s why he played the ostentatious Daoist Master in Cangdu, to use deceptive words of Daoism to silence those base people. But in Supibia, the honorable knights were helpless against slander, and even so knights themselves held such thoughts.

Damn it all to hell! Should good people be the ones to get scolded? Should good people be the ones to have guns pointed at them?!

“A bunch of garbage!”

Gongsun Ce cursed angrily, preparing to head to the cafe when he caught sight of so familiar green hair out of the corner of his eye. He quickly rushed forward, shouting from behind her, “Stop right there!”

Kerky tilted her head back like an acrobat and blinked.

“Wow, you’re really assertive today. So impatient already in the afternoon?”

“No joke, I’ve got sothing to ask you.”

Kerky whistled, “Expecting to get intel for free? No way!”

·

Gongsun Ce paid the price of a steak to pry open her mouth. Kerky chewed on the dium-rare beef, her lips and teeth filled with blood, swirling her wine glass, she asked, “Aren’t you going to have so too?”

“Pass, I really can’t stomach raw food,” Gongsun Ce grimaced, “Just looking at it kills my appetite.”

“Don’t be so ignorant, okay? dium-rare and raw at aren’t the sa.” Kerky wiped her mouth, putting down her knife and fork, “Since you’re treating, I’ll reluctantly chat with you. What do you want to ask, little man?”

Anyway, not asking about your asurents.

“A few small questions. First, does the old bastard often run late?”

“You asked out alone just to talk about that old geezer…” Kerky covered her face, “Yes, he’s often late. You know how bad his temper is, he’s the type of person who thinks it’s fine for him to be late, but it’s a grave sin if you are. He was even late for etings with Her Majesty the Queen.”

That fits my understanding of him, it’s sothing only Loningers could do.

“So, was it the sa on the day the Holy Fire Armor was damaged?”

Kerky scratched her face, “Not really. The old man was late several tis before when repairing the armor, angering the Dawn Knight, so she very seriously asked him to be at the scene a few minutes early. You know how terrifying the Dawn Knight can be when serious, so the old man was about to prepare to go early that morning for once.”

“But he was still late? What happened?”

“This…who knows…”

Kerky turned her head with a wry smile, eyes wandering. Gongsun Ce smacked the table for intimidation, “Speak the truth!”

“I’ll confess, I’ll confess,” the apprentice girl raised her hands, “Actually, I was late delivering him the docunts that morning, I was handling his paperwork to enter the secret chamber.”

“Oh, so it was you!”

Gongsun Ce looked suspiciously at the person opposite him, Kerky across the table waved her hands repeatedly, “No! All the apprentices on the whole bus were late that morning, you can’t just suspect .”

What, do you Mage apprentices also take ticards on the bus to work? Sounds so relatable, geez.

“Why?”

“It was just when the Royal carriage was out, causing traffic control, main roads were blocked.” Kerky shrugged, “I even jumped out the window to run to the museum to deliver the docunts, and still got a scolding from the old man, I was wronged.”

The road you need to drive normally to be on ti, yet you were only a bit late on foot, your stamina is impressive. Guess your true identity might be so special agent of the Creator Realm Mage directly…

“The Royal carriage…was just on that morning too…”

Gongsun Ce gradually ford a line of thought, he thought he had figured out the causes and effects. Just missing one last confirmation, if his guess was right, then the Dawn Knight was truly helpless.

“Does this Mnemosyne record thing have so kind of control center or sothing?”

Kerky glared cautiously, “Why are you asking this? This is confidential information, no leaks, think it through yourself.”

“Oh, co on, we’re this deep in already and you’re still talking about secrets.” Gongsun Ce waved his finger, “After all, it’s the Country, important things have to be firmly in hand to be assured. The core of the entire intelligence control system is inside the clock tower in the palace, right?”

Kerky crossed her index fingers, making an “X” in front of her lips.

“I make no comnts on such fanciful conjectures.”

“Alright, you’re done here.” Gongsun Ce smiled smugly, “I’m heading back.”

“Heh heh heh, don’t rush off.” Kerky grabbed his sleeve, “What are you suddenly asking these things for? You want to investigate the Holy Fire Armor case?”

Gongsun Ce responded angrily, “I can’t stand her carrying such a big scapegoat on her back!”

Kerky replied with a long-sounding tone, “So you want to help her…but frankly, I think there’s no point in this matter.”

Perhaps it was an illusion, but there was sympathy in Kerky’s eyes.

“Don’t be so quick to dismiss it. Think about it, aren’t you and I both small roles? If life is a play, we’re those minor characters farther down the cast list. And the big people have more power and wisdom than we do, if they can’t solve it, what can you do stepping up?”
