Capítulo 1198: Chapter 100: In the Na of God and Justice (Part 1)

“Even among all the adventures I’ve had over the years, they count as the most interesting group of people, planning to save the world out of obligation!” Seviss said.

How many tis had she walked alongside others like this? How many people had never seen this “best friend” again after parting? Had she ever told others about the story of Agent Jago, reminiscing about that “young lad” who was good with her “a few years ago”? Sowhere in Jago’s heart, a pang of ache struck him, and he lowered his head to look at his watch, concealing the sadness in his eyes. The eting ti was approaching.

Jago pointed to his watch: “Sorry Seviss! I have to go.”

Seviss was a little disappointed: “Hey, it’s only been a short while, right? I haven’t been to lt Valley City for a long ti, let’s walk around together?”

No problem. Jago thought, I’m fed up with these tedious matters.

“You know, I’ve been promoted now, and I must do my official duties well.” Jago scratched his hair, “I estimate the eting will be done in about half a day, and I’ll be free to co to the Church tonight to find you!”

“Go on, go on, big shot from the Drusus family~”

Jago walked away quickly, while Seviss stayed in place holding an unfinished plastic box, and he dared not turn back to see the expression on the female ranger’s face.

When did I beco a boring old man? While you still live happily in the sa place.

When Jago arrived at the eting room, everyone had already gathered—Governor Prince from Charming Mist State on the left and Governor Judas residing in Fire Wind State on the right, six Sect Leaders in charge of the six major dioceses, the patriarch of the teor City Special District, and three experts who belong only to the Mithril pillar. Jago sat on the host’s main seat, officially announcing the start of the eting.

The exposition of the civilizational front and the enemy’s plans had been given beforehand, and the eting was a cacophony once it started. The pro-war faction strongly argued that the opportunity should be seized to proactively attack, imposing a holy ruling on the totems under official jurisdiction to thwart Gaius’s plans, while the conservative side believed that proactively attacking and detaining neutral totems could have far-reaching impacts, potentially disrupting local climates if not handled carefully. A few even thought that Gaius’s plans might offer a win-win possibility, suggesting attempts at a second negotiation.

Judas pointed out that the opportunity should not be missed, advocating for a proactive strike, while Prince insisted on standing by the defensive side. Jago coldly observed the various argunts on the conference table, feeling particularly tedious. They spoke not only for divinity and justice but more for their own interests and emotions. So were antagonistic towards Gaius due to his manifesto, others took benefits from influential families to ease tensions. Did any truly think for the bigger picture?

“All agents must be recalled promptly, terminating cooperation with Gaius’s governnt.”

“Uniting is not just about the current chaos! What about the missions being implented now?”

Even Gaius seed more agreeable than these Sect Leaders, that man being straightforward in negotiations, clear-sighted about the situation. Were Gaius to hold a eting, he would never give fools so much ti, his subordinates rely needed to execute his orders. Jago closed his eyes wearily. Am I truly upholding justice? Why don’t I use this ti to go out and catch so criminals?

I should be deciding quickly, why am I still wasting ti here?

“Governor Jago?”

Judas’s voice of reminder startled him awake, and Jago realized that everyone was watching him. Ti had passed amidst chaotic verbal skirmishes, the period of strongest sunlight was over.

“I apologize, I was distracted,” the old man smiled wryly, “what were we discussing?”

“Regarding the holy ruling,” Governor Prince reminded, “Governor Judas proposed a sche to secretly employ the Dianhuo Network, working with supporters to launch a surprise attack on the enemy.”

“I suggest using the holy ruling in this operation to completely eradicate Gaius’s delusions,” Judas said.

Prince firmly shook his head: “I oppose, it’s too radical.”

The big figures from the Church looked towards Jago, as this was a voting where only governors qualified to participate, he was the third to vote.

After a long silence, Jago said: “I abstain.”

Upon saying this, he was the first to leave the eting room, not even announcing the end of the eting. The crowd left, discussing the governor’s performance, while the other two governors stayed until the end. Judas’s eyes showed deep concern, gone was his smile.

“It’s unlike him, he used to be the most radical among us.” Judas said, “What is Jago thinking?”

“Old friend, that ans even he thinks your plan is too aggressive. Do you harbor such resentnt against Gaius?” Prince sighed lightly.

“I won’t deny I loathe Gaius, for he sullies the na of the Saint,” Judas said, “but I rember more vividly the tragedy in the Country four years ago; it was because they underestimated the enemy.”

His face tightened, and in that rigid countenance, Prince saw fear. Like a powerless mortal, gazing at the giant god capable of shaking mountains.

“Dear friend, back then the Saint faced an evil family, whereas before us stands an invisible sovereign who has ruled the union for eight years and a monster once capable of destroying a nation.”

Prince walked over to the window, looking at the rift opposite the church. From this angle, the magnificent scenery of the grand rift was fully visible; he knew beneath the flas lay the Mithril Sealing from millennia ago and understood the fire vein was not limited to Fire Wind State alone, but extended northward across the continent guided by the Saint.

“Even the great Saint can make mistakes, as such, how can we act recklessly…”

It is an overwhelmingly powerful force capable of assisting in sustaining a millennia-long sealing, as well as effortlessly toppling cities on the ground.
