Capítulo 1195: Chapter 98: Hidden in Darkness, Shining Like Mithril (Part 4)_2
Kardesia gazed toward the center of the rift, curiosity occupying her heart at this mont. She transford into a ball of fla and flew deep into the rift of lt Valley City. The flas were like an extension of her limbs, her perception rippling through the subterranean fire veins, allowing her to instantly see this city and this land.
She saw smoldering fire flowing into nurous secret workshops, where people used it to create unusual armants; she saw many flas being collected by the church priests using black stones, made into bullets or explosives; she saw, at the depths of the smoldering fire, a cold giant worm standing silently, bound by countless silver chains underground, like an ancient statue preserved from eons ago. Those bright silver chains were extrely thick, extending along five main veins, spreading from the underground of lt Valley City to the entire Fire Wind State, converging sowhere in the western wasteland. Their surfaces shimred with unremarkable colors, like the leftover foam in a cup…
Kardesia suddenly jumped out from the flas, shaking her head, dizzy: “It’s Mithril chains! Soone has made a ‘lock’ underground in Fire Wind State using vast amounts of Mithril… One end connected here, the other to the west… Is that the Saint’s seal? What is he sealing?”
Yan Qi waved his hand casually, saying only: “Let’s go back! Now you have so topics to discuss with your parents.”
Kardesia ground her teeth in frustration at this person’s attitude: “I was born and raised here, I have the right to know the secrets of my hotown!”
“But I have no obligation to teach you!”
Yan Qi laughed maliciously twice, instantly disappearing with Gongsun Ce. Kardesia glared at the spot where the man in black had been, angrily raising her voice eight tones: “Lianyi, how could there be such a rotten character in a super skilled person?!”
“Mr. Yan is like that,” Shiyu Lianyi said gently, “being with him always requires great patience. Once we return, we can ask Gongsun.”
“How is that different from him just telling us?!”
Shiyu Lianyi thought for a mont, then hit his palm: “He can avoid explaining a lot, that person always hates trouble.”

Yan Qi’s teleportation was completely different from Shiyu Ling’s. When acting with Shadow Orchid or in Dreamland, Gongsun Ce always had a strange sensation of swimming in the world’s underlayers, but when traveling with Yan Qi, he had no “feeling,” as if they were still standing in place without moving a step, while the surrounding world switched places on its own.
This ti, they arrived at a desolate mountainous region, where the rocks bore a dull reddish-brown, like blood stains dried for ages, or iron rust corroding the stone. Yan Qi stayed silent, waiting before the mountain; Gongsun Ce, familiar with his temper, knew that if this person didn’t want to speak, any more words would only et with impatient replies, so he stood quietly alongside him.
They didn’t wait long, a few minutes later, a bright silver light streaked across the sky, and the agent in a trench coat landed beside them, carrying a briefcase. Gongsun Ce waved in surprise: “Mr. Will? You ca from Cangdu?”
“The Seventh Knight took over the heavy burden, so I can be more effective in the northern continent now.” Will led the way forward, “Mr. Gongsun, what did you do today?”
Gongsun Ce’s heart tightened, cursing Yan Qi for scheming against him. If he had known Will was coming today, he would’ve made sure to do sothing aningful! Then he could present a notebook saying, “This is today’s eting records, enemy defense analysis, combat simulation… surely the other party would look at him differently and praise him for his efficiency as our ace agent of Cangdu.” Now, having idled the day away, what’s left to talk about? When the plans and arrangents are finished, the other party with good manners would only point out, “Are you here to work or on a public-funded tour?”
“I went to Kardesia’s ho as a guest.” Gongsun Ce chuckled awkwardly, thinking his image was dood.
The agent’s next statent caught him off guard: “Did you have fun?”
“Ah, it was nice. Her parents were great people, and we even had the local charcoal-grilled whole chicken for dinner…”
Gongsun Ce paused. They were clearly heading towards so kind of forbidden land, preparing to uncover the big secrets of Fire Wind and the Church, yet this harmonious dostic conversation was unsettling—were they adopting so sort of “Special Inspector Will from Cangdu” persona, still in role? Such relentless commitnt to practice is truly comndable!
“Very good.”
“Huh?”
Will took out a notebook, jotting down a few notes, his expression seeming more relaxed. He led the two deeper into the mountain, tapping an unremarkable rock face with the transford Gun of Punishnt. An ancient silver array erged within the mountainous rock, and the dull red stones rumbled, revealing a passage leading underground.
Will led them into the passage, the mountain walls closing behind, leaving no light, his voice echoing in the dark space.
“We have learned of the restraints placed upon you by Situ Yi, and adjusted the training plans accordingly. But before officially starting, we unanimously believe that you should undergo another crucial examination, to avoid making impulsive mistakes.”
He used “we,” implying more than one person. Gongsun Ce frowned: “For a heart’s examination, Alandia can…”
“Dawn Knight’s judgnt will be tainted with personal feelings,” Yan Qi interjected, “she knows this well, hence entrusted us with the task.”
“Alright, so does our examination require entering the forbidden land?”
“The examination is over.” Will said, “Mr. Gongsun, I’d like to ask you to tell us a story. We know the ins and outs of the event, yet we are unaware of the thoughts of those involved.”
“I’m to tell it?”
They proceeded down the mountain path, advancing in the dust-slling darkness. The agent took a small tal ball from his coat, tossing it up, and it emitted a white light that illuminated the surroundings.
By the light, Gongsun Ce faintly saw the end of the road, a path leading to an ancient temple. Seven massive Mithril pillars supported a stone roof, each block of flat white stone forming the foundation of the temple. With their arrival, gleams appeared on the temple’s surface.
“The story begins like this. A thousand years ago, Fire Wind State was a lush land, where the flas burned on the ground yet were as friendly as flowing water. Fire and wind were treasures of life; people depended on the natural powers to grow and thrive. The Drusus family was one of the most powerful families at that ti, strong enough to covet kingship.
Similarly, a thousand years ago, the land beneath us was not yet called Fire Wind State. It was then part of Youfu State, belonging to the domain of the Marcius family. They were cunning, greedy, ambitious, dwelling in the dark subterranean realms, for Youfu State held mysterious powers. Things stabilized only beneath the surface—once aboveground, they beca as void as rootless duckweed.”
Gongsun Ce had never heard of Youfu State’s na, the United States had no such state.
“Such days were ant to continue until the Saint arrived in Youfu State.”
As they spoke, they entered the temple. At the heart of this ancient structure, a towering and gigantic creature slumbered, its tallic skin gleaming with silver, its four robust legs like pillars supporting the building, its long trunk naturally drooping, like a slide prepared for giants. It opened its eyes, fixing its gaze on Will for a mont, then slowly rose, emitting a friendly sound.
The silver giant elephant’s call sounded like laughter, and Gongsun Ce guessed its temperant must be very good. He found familiar writing on the elephant’s body, this ti without the Saint’s advice, starting with a weighty monologue.
