Capítulo 1178: Chapter 90: Interlude Rest_3
“It’s just like the victory feast four years ago.”
Gongsun Ce turned his head as the burly blond knight walked over, looking as handso as ever. He laughed with surprise and clinked glasses with Rakael: “You ca too?”
“Everyone’s here in Sound Curtain City; there’s so much that needs discussing and communicating. We must hold a eting as soon as possible.” Rakael said, “Just think about it, it’s absurd that we’re pointing our swords at the Queen.”
“We’re pointing our swords at the usurper.” Gongsun Ce corrected, “Look at it this way, brother, as the deputy says…”
“…a professional civil servant should clearly understand who they pledge loyalty to. We serve the public, not pledge allegiance to individuals, contributing to the system rather than serving the officials.” Gafri walked over with a smile, clinking glasses with the two, “But we’ve always treated the Royal Family as an exception. I’m glad that after today, the number of exceptions in the system will decrease rather than increase.”
“Thanks for your long-winded sentence, I’ve hardly practiced listening to the capital accent.” Gongsun Ce laughed, “The two new knights are comndable, they remind of their predecessors.”
“Of course, they are all honorable Starlight Knights, loyal to justice and the Country.”
The two newcors walked with Alandia, nervously and excitedly greeting like fans eting idols. Gongsun Ce sincerely hoped they hadn’t heard his high curse-word count during battle.
They chatted for a good while, discussing the future developnts and changes. The Queen’s death wouldn’t be made public, and Rakael would use a wax figure in coordination with the mage far away in the capital to create a fake Queen for appearances. It sounded utterly rebellious, but everyone accepted it: Anyway, they all had tead up to kill the Queen yesterday, how they handled the aftermath didn’t matter anymore.
“I never thought I’d beco a traitor…” Orianna’s mood was complicated from within the crystal ball, participating in the eting remotely using Heart Phase Weapon.
Gongsun Ce consoled: “Look at it this way Orianna, among the traitors throughout Morton Kingdom’s history, our group is surely at the top, you’re not just a traitor but ranked number one.”
“Gongsun Ce!”
The Seventh Knight’s irritated scream was as familiar as ever, she huffed and retreated, with Mo Yuankai’s round face replacing within the crystal ball.
“Well done Ah Ce, truly impressive.” Mo Yuankai gave a thumbs up, “All this ti practicing wasn’t in vain!”
“Brother, your timing was perfect, you wouldn’t believe how spectacular Grey’s expression was at the ti!” Gongsun Ce bead, “Are you heading back to Cangdu next?”
“I’ll wait a bit first, I have so matters in Supibia.” Mo Yuankai glossed over the topic, they talked about both sides’ situations further, everyone praised Mo Yuankai’s recent weight loss achievents: he appeared to have shed two sizes, his eyes faintly reflecting so of the old vigor.
“What should we do next?” When returning to serious discussion, Knight Blana looked somber, “I believe I’m doing the right thing, but there’s no way to publicly disclose it… ”
“Just consider yourself a secret hero.” Gongsun Ce comforted, “Not everything can be talked about with everyone, right?”
“Better to recite so poetry to lighten the mood.” Akuya agreed deeply, dragging the gloomy colleague to join the Superpower User’s social circle. Gongsun Ce watched their forms, feeling nostalgic.
“I rember the last ti the old captain recited poetry… Okay, it wasn’t the old captain, it was Situ Yi disguised as the captain…” Gongsun Ce shook his head repeatedly, “Oh damn it!”
“Anyway, this ti we’ve seen the enemy clearly.” The Dawn Knight said, “We celebrate temporary victory, rather than indulge in false success.”
“Quite right.” Gongsun Ce raised his glass, “Rest up and keep at it. A toast to everyone!”

The victory celebration lasted briefly before ending. All those involved in the fierce battle still needed rest, with much information awaiting consolidation and summary. Shortly after, everyone went back to sleep, with Qiluo being the first to nod off. The series of events over the past few days had left her ntally and physically exhausted; with Sound Curtain City’s battle concluding in the dead of night, she spent the next day using her powers to assist in exploration and deploynt, leading to this evening being the first real chance for a thorough rest.
In her dreams, Qiluo mumbled, thinking about how Gongsun Ce had acknowledged everyone but forgot to praise her, even though her performance was exceptional and she was almost a combatant… but then she rembered his exhaustion from the battle and his ongoing struggle with hate, so her slight resentnt dissipated, turning into a small grumble within her dream.
This sleep was deep for Qiluo, with nothing noteworthy happening during the night. Upon awakening in the morning, she raised her arms comfortably, intending to stretch, but suddenly felt emptiness beneath her.
“Wah?”
A strong wind blew fiercely towards her face, carrying the refreshing scent of distancing from the city. Beneath her, the clouds extended like a dark sea, with the junction of clouds and night sky far in the distance, where a faint ray of light seed about to erge.
Qiluo realized where she was. She was flying above the sky, with a pair of strong arms around her waist, and a man’s voice whispering playfully in her ear, “A little surprise in life.”
Qiluo turned to face Gongsun Ce’s face, gaping, “How co I didn’t notice anything…”
“I wrapped you up with a snake,” Gongsun Ce smirked mischievously, making hand gestures, “like this, swirling around and around…”
Qiluo pouted, “How rude! There are actually guys who pretend to be a snake to tease their girl!”
“It’s because you’re the cheeky one, not my fault!”
“There you go, making excuses again. And why co up here to the sky…”
At that mont, a streak of dawn light appeared at the edge of the clouds. Qiluo instinctively squinted. The dark hues across the sky vanished in an instant, and a warm golden hue spread across the sea of clouds. The rising sun eagerly leaped from below the horizon, unveiling a new day with its light and warmth.
Qiluo gazed at the distant glow, entranced. Flying in the air with her beloved, like two early rising birds, the sunlight rippling over the clouds seed to lt away all worries and sorrows. It felt like witnessing a long and endless painting unfurling, captivating you at first glance, knowing it’s just the beginning, and thus looking forward to the unknown that follows.
“…So romantic,” Qiluo said.
“As long as you’re happy,” Gongsun Ce wiped his nose, “I thought of so ideas that seed a bit clichéd, so I decided to just bring you to see the sunrise… but it’s still kind of clichéd…”
“I love the old clichés,” Qiluo smiled sweetly, “Everything is fun with Gongsun Ce.”
“You’re sweet.”
They flew quietly for a while. Qiluo wanted to urge him not to be bound by hatred and to live well, and Gongsun Ce wanted to praise her for being amazing, like a magical girl from an ani. But they felt there was no need to say these words they both understood. So they kissed in the warm glow, talking about everyday trivialities unconnected to heavy battles.
“Qiluo, are you planning to stick with this form?”
“I actually prefer my pink hair form, so I’m thinking of switching back starting today.”
“Hey, don’t change now! Your clothes won’t fit!”
“Oh, what to do~ Gongsun Ce, think of sothing~” (monotone reading)
“Darn it, I’m gonna pinch you hard.”
“You were already making a move before speaking, so rash,” Qiluo stuck out her tongue playfully, “Yesterday, my parents called , asking who the grey-haired guy at the concert was.”
“What?! That part wasn’t edited out?!”
“I privately sent them a copy, said he’s my boyfriend.”
“…What did your parents say?”
“They said you’re quite handso. Then they said your singing was great, showing those foreign won who’s boss!”
“Wow, your folks are sothing else…”
“Haha! But I was thinking, being an idol is a job that relies on youth. In ten or twenty years, I’ll probably be forgotten by the public, right?”
“I don’t think you need to worry about that, because so people recognize only one idol; to them, it’s more than a hobby, it’s their life,” Gongsun Ce stroked her pink strands, “I’m your number one fan. You’ll always be the best idol in my heart.”
“Yeah, Xingli is everyone’s singer, while Qiluo is just a gloomy otaku…” The girl’s bright smile was like a spring breeze, “But, Qi Jingxuan is an idol who belongs only to you.”
Just like the sunlight spreading over the earth, the idol and her lover drifted away in the light.
