Capítulo 1172: Chapter 88: Layers of Suspicion (Part 2)

“My God, why is this field operation so overwhelming…” Kardesia gasped heavily as she lay on Shiyu Lianyi’s back. “Who the hell is that dumbass Little Qian, does he know you?”

Qin Qianbai looked in the direction he left, with a touch of nostalgia in his words.

“He’s a friend of my uncle,” Qin Qianbai said, “He used to tell stories when I was a kid.”

Sound Curtain City, city center.

“Teams 4 and 5, search the residential area and investigate if there are any missing civilians needing rescue. Teams 1, 2, and 3, cover Mr. Gongsun and join the main force in the city center!”

Jago issued orders nervously. Three seconds ago, news from the battlefield said the battle had temporarily halted, and Seviss had already pulled Gongsun Ce to rendezvous with the main forces. Even though the demons of Yinmu City had been cleaned up several tis, given the large numbers, there was still a possibility of so escaping. He sent the Church’s forces to important facilities throughout the city while he led his followers, the Judges, into the headquarters of the North Continent Real Sound dia Company.

This building, regarded as the headquarters of the Kalash family, was now engulfed in flas. The fierce battles throughout the city caused the skyscrapers in the bustling area to be the first affected. The elevator no longer worked, so Jago signaled his n to search the building in groups while he ventured into the elevator shaft, climbing upward through the dark and stifling passage.

He reached the top floor of the building at an incredible speed, kicking open the heavy elevator door. The corridor’s luxurious carpet was burnt beyond recognition, with half-collapsed walls, rubble, and glass shards everywhere. Jago covered his mouth and nose as he dashed out like a ball of fire, racing through the corridor. He burst into the office of the Kalash Family Head, blasting out with his dual guns like cannonballs!

“You’re here, Jago.”

Jago’s movents halted. Jin Kalash, seated in the half-destroyed office, gazed at the city in flas, while Bai Aoli watched him coldly. The red-clad governor’s face was tense, and he said nothing, slowly lowering his gun.

“I stayed this long just to see you,” Jin chuckled, “There’s not much left to do over at the Church, is there? Let’s go together while we still can. The young people of the Drusus family are quite promising; there’s nothing left for you to worry about.”

Jago lifted his pistol again, forcing the words through gritted teeth.

“Let’s go.” The old man’s voice was deep, “While there’s still ti.”

“Still hesitating?” Jin shook his head, “You’re a warrior, Jago. A businessman like can flip-flop, but a warrior who can’t make up his mind is unwanted. No matter how long you hesitate, you’ll have to choose a path eventually. Once you’ve chosen, just keep moving forward without looking back.”

Jago fired a shot, shattering the remaining glass. Jin placed a business card on the desk, humming a tune as he leapt out of the building. Before leaving, Bai Aoli turned to look back, sneered, and said, “An old man dithering like this, what a waste of age!”

The two family heads left, and Jago remained, holding his gun, speechless for a long ti. He let out a heavy sigh, thinking that this was enough. At least the crisis threatening to destroy the city had been alleviated, Seviss was fine, and the young ones were still alive. As for what cos next, who can say for sure? Who can truly determine what is “right?” Not even the Saint could do that…

He holstered his weapon, intending to announce the end of the operation to his subordinates. But just then, Jago suddenly started, turning his head towards the western part of the city.

A beam of bright silver light was descending from the sky, coalescing into a giant humanoid figure with wings!

·

Half a minute earlier, on the west side of Sound Curtain City.

“Is it my imagination or are you getting stronger again?” Seviss said suspiciously.

Gongsun Ce was continually flexing his hands, his eyes fixated on the white-robed apparition in the sky, a gaze that sent shivers down Seviss’s spine. That couldn’t even be called killing intent; the young man’s expression was like that of a butcher eyeing pigs and sheep waiting to be slaughtered, only thinking about how to slice quickly and efficiently. The female Ranger had to forcefully grip Gongsun Ce’s shoulder, worried that a certain frail individual would rush out and risk his life at this mont.

“I’m fine.” Gongsun Ce took a deep breath, “I’ve co across an enemy; once I’m ready, I’ll kill him.”

Seviss thought, thank God you’re still weak now, otherwise if you two started fighting, not only this city or state but all of it might be dood, and at that ti no one except this lady might remain alive…

She ignored a basic logic problem; theoretically, if the whole city perished, she couldn’t possibly survive either, but Seviss naturally thought she would make it out alive. She patted the young man’s shoulder, speaking in a tone of an elder, “No matter what, you have to take care of the people around you, don’t you? You have an entire boat of beloved companions; it’s not worth risking your life for an enemy…”

“Ah, right, right…”

Their pointless conversation continued, and the tense atmosphere gradually relaxed. Seviss breathed a sigh of relief, her intuition telling her that the guy beside her was scarier than any monster or giant dragon when he decided to throw caution to the wind. As she casually surveyed her surroundings, she noted that the fire had been extinguished in a short period, but the building was significantly damaged, with most of the lights out. However, one streetlight had miraculously survived, flickering on and off, casting a faint purple glow illuminating a piece of black clothing.

It belonged to a young boy, standing on the road with his head down. Whose child had gotten lost? But then she noticed sothing odd; the boy didn’t have a single injury… With the city’s flas burning this long, how could an ordinary child be unhard?
