Capítulo 1117: Chapter 69: Regrouping and Rallying

Qin Qianbai walked out of the hotel, strolling alone on the streets of Burning Steel City.

It had only been two days since the no-holds-barred tournant concluded, and the atmosphere of the city was markedly different. Many people with peculiar attire had disappeared from among the pedestrians, and the air was devoid of the subconscious fighting spirit of the Martial Artists. All of this conveyed one fact: the underground casinos still existed, but the celebration was over.

After listening to Gaius’s speech yesterday, she and the other semifinalists had a private gathering. Thunderbolt went back to the Xuan Ci State with the president shortly afterward, and Miss Beretta also returned to her hotown after saying goodbye. The heaviness of reality followed the end of the tournant, and even though the sky over Burning Steel City was clear, Qin Qianbai felt so oppressed that she couldn’t breathe. The previously uninhibited battles seed like a sliver of light in a dark world, burning only montarily before being swallowed by the night.

A Martial Artist emptied of distraction still feels lancholy and concern. Martial Arts, after all, is the Way of Humanity, and even soone as carefree as Qin Ming experiences joy and sorrow. Qin Qianbai was now imrsed in confusion and worry, even though she knew that re worry was pointless, her thoughts wouldn’t stop turning…

“Did you have a fight with your boyfriend?”

A distinct voice spoke up, and Ranger Vit was standing at a hot dog stand not far away. A beautiful blue-haired woman stood beside the man, holding his sturdy arm. She wore a simple dress and a sunhat. Qin Qianbai recognized her instantly as the woman who had cheered for the Ranger during the tournant.

“No, it’s just my mood.” Qin Qianbai composed herself, “Mr. Vit hasn’t left yet?”

“It’s rare to co out of the city. Just checking things out.” Vit lowered his head as he explained, “Ada, my girlfr…”

“You used the wrong word, Ranger Vit. She’s your fiancée.”

The blue-haired woman Ada raised a finger, winking at her fiancé. The tall, burly Ranger gulped as if sothing got stuck in his throat, his embarrassed expression completely unfitting of a Martial Artist of his caliber.

Ada clasped her hands together and said, “Before, my Ranger here caused you trouble. Thank you for being willing to duel with this childish man.”

“No, no, I enjoyed the match too.”

The Ranger’s face grew even more awkward, and Qin Qianbai secretly chuckled at the sight, thinking that indeed there is always soone who can control another. But her brief good mood was swiftly dispelled by lancholia, and she pondered for a mont before asking Ranger Vit, a fellow Martial Arts master: “Mr. Vit, if the world were to end tomorrow, what would you think now?”

Ranger Vit adjusted his sunglasses and pondered: “I would feel very lancholic.”

“And then?”

“… ”

The Ranger finished his hot dog in a few bites and stood still like a frozen image, lancholy etched on his face: “I don’t know. It seems like there’s so much to do… yet it seems like there’s nothing I need to do…”

“True enough.”

The two Martial Arts cultivators let out a child-like sigh in unison, while Ada stood by shaking her head at the sight. Her eyes held a look of detachnt, that expression sohow familiar to Qin Qianbai, like a spectator watching a play from the audience.

“Why think of these things?” Ada wiped the sweat from her forehead, “They have nothing to do with the present, right?”

“?” Qin Qianbai tilted her head.

“Life is full of unexpected dangers. You could be in a car accident outside, fall down the stairs, or suffer from food poisoning and allergies during als… these are all ‘destructions’ from a personal perspective, but if you keep thinking about them, humans can’t survive, right?”

Ranger Vit earnestly said: “I’m not afraid of car accidents.”

“Ranger Vit, please be quiet for now.”

“Oh.”

Qin Qianbai thought for a mont before saying: “But if it’s not chance, but an inevitability?”

“Humans will die one day, that’s the ‘inevitable’ destruction.” Ada said, “Constantly worrying about an uncertain future will lead you into a vortex of fear. Isn’t that just scaring yourself? I used to know soone like that, startlingly acting like a ntal patient. Living in endless fear and gloom is exhausting.”

Qin Qianbai pondered her words and felt a sudden sense of clarity. She smiled and said, “Indeed, the simplest truths are the most universal solutions, and taking care of the present is enough. Thank you, Miss Ada.”

“You’re welco, I’m a Spiritual Image Mage, and I’ve often thought about these things since I was a child.” Ada smiled, waving her hand, “You and Ranger Vit really say strange things, is this common among Heavenly Return Skill masters?”

Recalling Martial Artists she knew, Qin Qianbai confidently replied: “Yes, all Heavenly Return Skill masters are strange people.”

“I’m a normal person…”

“Ranger Vit, don’t say that.”

Qin Qianbai bid farewell to the couple, the Ranger duo, and walked toward the hotel with a light step. It took her less than half a day to adjust her mood. If Ah Ce saw her, he would surely say sothing like, “The Heavenly Return Skill is truly convenient.” She thought this smugly as she bought cakes for everyone at a dessert shop along the roadside.

After that, I should apologize to Alandia, and then persuade her and Ah Ce to have a good talk.

Shiyu Ling spent the entire day holed up in her room, trying her hand at blacksmithing.

The small realm of the Dreamland had transford the room into a volcano out of a fairytale with a dragon lair. Shiyu Ling sat on a boulder, holding cold steel with a pair of mismatched stainless steel tongs, quenching it in magma with a motion like simring an enormous hot pot.
