Capítulo 1083: Chapter 58: Cold Steel, Hot Blood (Part 4)

“Hurry, hurry! If we’re late, we’ll miss the good show!”

The elevator that led directly underground rumbled as it descended, and Senben joyfully ran out with his bar pals. He’d taken quite so ti to borrow a large sum, ready to bet big on Qin Qianbai, the underdog, in the first match and earn a fortune. “Senben, who do you think she’s fighting?” “Could it be the Cold Steel Beast?” “The stronger the opponent selected by the roulette, the better; the stronger they are, the higher the odds!”

Senben eagerly squeezed through the crowd and easily got inside. This was strange; usually, the foul-tempered gamblers would surely curse twice. Senben casually glanced at the holographic projection of the broadcast arena, and his eyes seed frozen in place.

“Senben.” The voice of his little brother trembled incessantly, “What, what, what is that?”

It’s not surprising that the little brother lacked courage. Everyone in sight was trembling from the fear that welled up from deep within, each person intently staring at the holographic projection, focusing on the giant beast roaring and brandishing its claws. The octagonal arena had now transford into an extre cold purgatory with temperatures below -50 degrees, and every strike of the beast brought a literal snowstorm sweeping through the casino.

Senben knew what it was. Every gambler ntioned its na with respect, and everyone in the Cold Steel State had heard its legend. It is said that a long ti ago, a Transformation Spirit, naturally pugnacious, was dissatisfied with fighting only its kind in nature and set its sights on humans, the Martial Artists who ca for training. It dug a warm burrow in the snow, inviting warriors who feared the snowstorm to co down for battle. The Transformation Spirit was too powerful, and people couldn’t overco its strength. Yet the warriors were unwilling to give up easily. They built houses around the burrow, practicing their skills and forging weapons day and night, honing their skills until they were stronger, and then challenging the giant beast again.

The Transformation Spirit dug its burrow deeper and deeper, for the brave challengers gathered in groups, and it wanted to select the strongest among them to enjoy the battle. The community of warriors grew ever more glorious, as many people beca enamored with life in the north and considered it their ho. Such days circulated for thousands of years until today, when the community had grown into the magnificent Burning Steel City of the North. The Cold Steel Beast was no longer the strongest in the casino, but everyone held it in high regard because its actions created today’s Cold Steel Arena.

Senben squeezed to the front of the holographic projection, glaring intently at the storm on the field. He saw a slender figure standing amidst the snow, lightly brushing off the steel claws of the Cold Steel Beast as if it were nothing. When the two collided, the storm kicked up dispersed the obstructive cold winds. The black-haired woman actually blocked the giant beast’s offensive barehanded, unscathed!

“…How long has she been holding out?” Senben asked in disbelief. “Five minutes,” answered a nearby gambler, the response dazed like a dream talk. “Saint…” Senben panted heavily, his little brother quietly inquiring from behind.

“Senben, are we still betting?”

Senben turned sharply, his eyes red as if they’d just been pierced by an enemy.

“Bet!!” He grabbed his little brother’s shoulders tightly, “Bet the whole amount on her winning!!”

The steel claws and hand blade collided once more, and a long-planned strike was skillfully neutralized by the Martial Artist’s intercepting power. The Cold Steel Beast cautiously withdrew, not allowing battle fury to cloud its mind, and the battling man and beast each occupied a corner of the arena, as if back to the start.

The Cold Steel Beast’s iron body was unscathed.

Yet, the human flesh and blood were likewise without a trace of a wound. Her lips curved slightly…

Qin Qianbai was smiling.

In the vast majority of cases, martial arts is a technique that assus “humans” as the adversary. The ribs, throat, crotch, eyeballs… the “killing blows” emphasized by various schools primarily assu humans as the target. And those techniques beco laughably ineffectual when facing non-humans, like a blind man touching an elephant.

Against an enemy with a height of six ters, it’s not easy to kick the chin. A tal-bodied opponent has no weakness between its legs. Let’s not talk about poking eyes; even if the opponent stands still, you wouldn’t reach its nose tip by stretching upward. In other words, the opponent is a beast to which martial arts do not apply…

Is that the case?

“Sha!”

The Cold Steel Beast’s body subtly “tilted,” creating an icy slant beneath its feet as a force surface. By the ti the audience realized it, the beast’s body had darted out like an arrow, its right claw sweeping down towards Qin Qianbai’s head from above at an angle, the move possessing the spirit of sweeping away a thousand armies. The Sweeping Army Style of the Silver Light Sword Book executed by a beast, its clarity enough to make instructing Knights exclaim.

Qin Qianbai’s feet remained unmoved as her left hand used Whip Fist to strike the side of the claws, the sound wave erupting like thunder cracking a mountain when the back of the fist landed. She single-handedly perford the knee-strike “Thunder Collapse.” The expansive Sword route was broken by speed, and the concentrated power of Thunder Collapse destroyed the Sweeping Army Formation, yet the Cold Steel Beast’s eyes showed no anger. Its exaggerated steel claw twisted and dragged, astonishingly using a hint of the “entangling” deftness at a sickle angle. Qin Qianbai’s left fist was pulled downward, and the Cold Steel Beast’s massive body swirled, its steel-like thick tail wrapped with explosive bone spurs swept to strike her undefended left side. This fierce and unstoppable strike was displayed using the kicking techniques of the Gundo Natives of the Southern Ocean. Unable to utilize human leg kicks with its leg structure, it used its tail instead!

Qin Qianbai’s smile deepened.

It’s not like that. Martial arts is not a limited technique. Gender, size, race, and all those things are irrelevant. Just look into its eyes and you’ll understand, just clash with it and you’ll comprehend. The challenger was not a fierce beast but a warrior thirsting desperately for battle…
