"I don’t care about the reason; the issue will be dealt with according to the Empire’s law."

"The subject could be forgiven for a single ti as long as they could pay double the amount during the next season."

"However, if they failed to et the condition, the Empire allows for imdiate execution."

"Is that clear?"

The Envoy’s words were piercing and almost hit the face of the Frost Iron family head like a loud resounding slap, making his face turn green.

Not just them, the face of every family head was like this; the rules of the Empire were very strict. They had heard about nurous hundred-year-old families which were slaughtered because they failed to et the Empire’s quota.

Witnessing the reaction of everyone, the Envoy’s face remained stone cold; to him, such a situation wasn’t anything rare.

He himself had slaughtered many families when they failed to et the quota on ti.

He sneered in disdain and continued.

"Don’t forget the peace that you enjoy today is brought by the struggle of empires."

"If it wasn’t for my Flying Sword Empire ancestors, would any of you be able to breathe freely as you can now?"

"Don’t ever forget this..."

While saying these words, he continued to examine the report in his hand, and suddenly his eyes flashed with surprise.

"Ohh! Skylar’s family had exceeded the production quota; what a surprise."

Hearing those words, Theodore, who had been silent all this ti, said, "Yes, Lord Envoy, we of the Skylar family worked very hard during these past years."

"As such, I would like to invoke Article One A of the Empire to beco the sole entity responsible for contributing to the Empire’s prosperity."

Hearing his words, the Envoy fell silent, and even the Great Executioner Mia watched this scene with great interest.

Not just her, Julie SilverRose watched this scene with slight admiration; she was impressed by Theodore’s decisiveness.

And couldn’t stop herself from thinking: as expected from the father of my talented disciple.

Although Theodore’s combat power wasn’t impressive, the way his mind worked made up for it.

"What?" The lord of the FrostIron family cried out in surprise and looked at his fellow lords in disbelief.

However, except for him, the faces of others such as the Lionheart Lord and Bright Moon’s family head didn’t change, as if they were already expecting sothing like this to happen.

Suddenly, the FrostIron family lord felt as if he was surrounded by wolves from all sides.

He gritted his teeth and hatefully cried out, "Good, very good, what Lord of Skylar family."

The Envoy could feel sothing was wrong, but he didn’t care, to him the petty squabbles of these cities amounted to nothing, not worh paying attention at all, In the next mont, he cleared his throat and said:

"Skylar family head’s words make sense. Using my power as the Envoy of the Empire, I grant the ultimate responsibility to the Skylar family."

"From now on, the Skylar family is the direct subordinate of the Empire, lording over nearby powers."

The Envoy loudly proclaid without changing his expression.

"Theodore Skylar, I hope you will carry out your duties sincerely as the Lord of sarith city; the seal of lordship will be delivered to you within a week."

"However, also keep in mind, if you fail to et the quota even a single ti, the authority will be forcefully revoked and your entire family executed."

Theodore solemnly nodded.

Finally, after years of preparation and sincere planning, his plan had finally succeeded.

It wasn’t clear who started, but loud cheers soon erupted.

"All hail the Flying Sword Empire."

"All hail the Lord of Skylar family."

....

The Lord Envoy, after declaring the Skylar family as the overlords of the local region, didn’t stay for long as he was busy collecting tribute from other cities; sarith city was just one of his stops.

Strangely, however, the Great Executioner Mia didn’t imdiately leave; after the Envoy left, she just walked away, her purposes unknown.

Her presence was like a sharp blade weighing down on everyone’s throat from the Skylar family.

Especially Dawn, who still rembered how Mia looked at him just before leaving.

Those obsidian eyes radiating playfulness.

.....

Days passed in silence since the Skylar family assud the responsibilities of sarith city.

Dawn was in his room watching the silent spar between Elizabeth and Lucas.

"Hehehe... You are still too young... do you think your arrows could touch ?"

Elizabeth laughed like a demonic witch, completely ignoring the rain of arrows that were moving towards her at fast speed.

Each of these arrows seed to be made from fine iron with runes carved on their surfaces.

The air howled in agony as they moved unhindered.

Suddenly Elizabeth stopped laughing and raised her hand in mid-air before saying:

"Devour."

Suddenly, the skies above the training ground seed to darken, and a blanket made from so tarry substance enveloped the arrows; in no ti, all arrows disappeared as if they had been swallowed by a prehistoric beast.

Burp!

Elizabeth placed her jade-white hands on her mouth and burped with her eyebrows scrunching up together in a frown.

"Little Nose picker, your arrows taste disgusting; why don’t you try sothing else?"

"This again..."

Lucas threw his hands in mid-air and sighed. All of his attacks were almost completely useless against Elizabeth; she simply swallowed all of them like a black hole.

"Elder sister, I am tired..."

Before he could finish speaking, Elizabeth interrupted him and asked in a low voice:

"What did you say...?"

The coldness in her voice sent a chill running down Lucas’ spine; he showed a forceful smile on his face and reluctantly agreed.

Lucas suddenly didn’t want to be at ho anymore. But he had no other place to go now.

Dawn watched this with the corner of his lips twitching intensely. He almost couldn’t resist the urge to laugh out loud even though the situation wasn’t even that funny.

The forceful smile on Lucas’ face and Elizabeth’s words made the atmosphere slightly codic.

Other than that, after watching them spar, he also understood a couple of things about his siblings, and to be specific, about their class.

Lucas’ class had sothing to do with archery, while Elizabeth’s class allowed her to devour everything.

While Dawn was lost in his own world, Elizabeth’s master Julie SilverRose was looking at him with a strange look in her eyes.
