A few minutes ago.
In the center of the stage gathered the most powerful n and won of the city.
The family heads of Skylar family, Lionheart family, Brightmoon family, as well as the rarely seen family head of Frost Iron family were also here.
A single word from any of these people was enough to call the wind and rain in the city.
The past three years had been highly chaotic for sarith city, changing the political equation of the city.
Anyone with discerning eyes could see an alliance ford by the Skylar family, Lionheart and Bright Moon family.
FrostIron’s family head, an old man with a hunched back and face cracked like an old tree bark, looked at this scene with chilling coldness and harrumphed with clear disdain in his eyes.
"Jijiji...A bunch of clowns jumping around."
.....
Theodore Skylar stood upright with an unreadable expression on his face, glancing at the sky from ti to ti.
Even though there was no wind on the platform, his royal Navy blue long coat fluttered fiercely.
To welco the Empire’s Envoy, he was elegantly dressed in his favorite long coat embroidered with the symbol of two swords, a long tallic chain hung around his neck giving him a ferocious but noble bearing.
Suddenly the space beside him twisted and the figure of Robert Skylar, dressed in the sa navy blue long coat, appeared out of thin air.
Theodore didn’t say anything; he didn’t even glance in Robert’s direction.
Robert was also used to his elder brother’s behavior so he didn’t mind; he only wordlessly nodded and stood behind Theodore like a loyal general.
Although Theodore seed to have ignored Robert, from how his shoulders relaxed it was evident that Robert’s simple nod conveyed a ssage that only the elder brother Theodore could interpret.
"The ti for Skylar’s family to reclaim its past glory has finally co."
Theodore thought with narrowed eyes, his gaze seeming to pierce through the chaotic skies to glance at the pulsing stars in the night sky.
One day the Skylar family will be like one of these shining stars, making the world bask in its glory for eternity.
This was not just an empty dream but sothing which he would turn into a reality even if it cost him his life.
Unknowingly, a ruthless gleam flashed in Theodore’s eyes like the edge of a sharp saber that was ready to cut down all the obstructions in his path.
Suddenly his fingers slightly twitched and the air seed to have turned slightly suffocating.
In the next mont, however, his emotions cald down; the mont that he was waiting for was finally here.
His fingers, seemingly forged from iron itself, began to shake. Theodore could feel his heart rate rising not from fear but from sheer excitent.
.....
"Citizens of the Proud Flying Sword Empire, step forward to welco the Envoy."
A solemn voice bood in the surroundings, almost deafening.
The air trembled.
It was faint at first, like a distant hum, but soon the entire stage seed to vibrate with an unseen force.
Then, they appeared.
A hundred swords. Towering, impossibly massive, descending from the sky in perfect unison. Each blade glead under the moonlight, humming with ancient power.
Dawn’s breath stagnated. Were these the Envoy’s weapons? Or sothing else ? How was anyone supposed to wield sothing like that?
But before he could fully process it, the swords began to shrink, folding into themselves, their colossal size vanishing in an instant.
When the light faded, two figures stood where the swords had been—straight as spears, their very presence heavy with authority.
Seeing only their silhouettes, one could almost sll a lingering scent of ominous bloodshed.
"We, the humble subjects, welco the Envoy,"
The FrostIron family head took the lead and greeted with a forced smile on his face.
After him, one by one, the other leaders of the families also expressed their greetings.
Theodore also did the sa; however, he was feeling surprised inside.
The Envoy was a middle-aged man dressed in robes of the empire. Beside him was a woman with a charming smile, a symbol of a shining sun embroidered on her chest.
"Soone from the Order of the Great Sun? Why is she here?"
Theodore Skylar’s heart turned heavy; he was more than familiar with what the Order of the Great Sun represented.
Their sole reason for existence was to fight Abyss influence.
He was also familiar with their history.
The Order was founded centuries ago after a catastrophe known as the "Night of a Thousand Eyes."
During this event, a child with an Abyssal Mark lost control, causing an abyssal rift to open in the middle of a great city. The result was a massive invasion of abyssal creatures that slaughtered tens of thousands.
After barely sealing the rift, the world’s greatest mages and warriors vowed to never allow such an event to happen again.
"Has the news about my youngest son’s Abyss Mark leaked?" Theodore felt as if his heart was being ruthlessly clenched by soone’s thorny hands; unconsciously his eyes turned towards Dawn standing so distance away.
Cold wind howled above his head, making the situation even more suffocating.
In the next mont, however, Theodore shook his head to clear his thoughts.
"No, it is impossible; don’t rush to conclusions."
The prospect of news leaking was not possible, as he himself monitored everyone whom Dawn t; there had never been any suspicious point.
The boy had never drawn attention to himself.
Unaware of Theodore’s thought process, the Envoy lightly laughed and said gracefully:
"Let’s finish the process fast, shall we? I hope all of you have prepared the right amount of offering... however, before that, let introduce this lady beside ."
"et the Grand Executioner Mia from the Order of Great Sun."
"She is here to investigate sothing very important. I hope all of you representing the Flying Sword Empire will cooperate with anything that she asks."
Mia, the gentle-faced lady, didn’t seem to be paying attention to the Envoy’s words; her eyes were slightly dazed as she looked deeply in Dawn’s direction...
"Why is she looking at ?"
Dawn’s two eyebrows scrunched up together as he frowned.
On the platform, Robert and Theodore’s faces were slightly unsightly; however, they were able to revert to their original expressions in ti.
On the other hand, Dawn took a deep breath and shook his head.
Although her eyes were looking in his direction, her focus was on sothing behind him.
He imdiately let out a sigh of relief; for a mont, Dawn thought he had been exposed.
However, just as he was about to relax, his super Danger sense reacted intensely as if he was in extre danger.
A violent, gut-wrenching pulse.
It wasn’t sothing he saw or heard—it was sothing he felt, deep in his bones. Like an unseen blade pressed against his throat.
His breathing ca to standstill. His skin felt as if it was being poked by thousand needles.
