To be honest, Suming wasn't sure what the sudden burst of pink gas was. It's simple - he managed an animal zoo and company, not a gas chamber for torturing POWs, so he'd never seen real poison gas and had no idea what it looked like. It's not unusual to be ignorant in an area outside one's field of expertise.
But he and Su ng had snuck in through the drainpipe by the cliff edge, already feeling sowhat guilty, like thieves. Just now, the pipe behind them suddenly closed, and the thick gas erged. Instinctively, they assud they'd been discovered by the castle's owner.
And this gas looked extraordinarily dreamy... The prettier things are, the more toxic they tend to be. This rule applies not only to plants and beauties but also to gases.
For example, farts are colorless, and though they sll awful, they certainly can't kill. Smog looks grimy and grey, you might not sll anything, but breathing it in every day would certainly lead to various diseases. It's just like factory waste and car exhaust - colored gases often signify chemical components!
So Suming was pretty sure, this stuff was definitely fishy!
Before he could finish the thought, the pink fog had already enveloped the entire passage. Suming imdiately activated two energy storage spheres, borrowing the exaggerated abilities of tardigrades that can significantly enhance human survival skills.
Maybe due to the special nature of the tardigrade's abilities, many don't strengthen the body per se but rather reduce the body's needs. Therefore, the effect of the energy storage spheres was not ti-dependent.
Suming had done an experint: after activating the tardigrade energy sphere, he could subrge in water for an hour like a turtle, then co up for air, or go without food and water for three to four days without feeling hungry... Perhaps even longer than that. But he only conducted the experint for four days before stopping. Despite not being hungry, he missed the taste of food...
Suming nad this ability "Superhuman Life." Just as the na implies, after activating this power, humans to so extent beco superhuman beings. The body's demand for various nutrients drops to the bare minimum, and one barely depends on the natural or artificial environnt to survive. They're essentially super beings who can "hide in a small building and beco supre, indifferent to spring, sumr, autumn, and winter."
With two layers of Superhuman Life energy spheres in effect, the poison gas was almost negligible.
"Cough cough cough..." Su ng, however, started coughing violently, his large body almost doubled over like a big shrimp, his complexion alternating between red and white, looking incredibly ugly.
Suming was shocked, how could he forget this! Suming had Superhuman Life energy spheres, but Su ng was powerless. Though vigorous, he was still human. Even if he could run a horse on his arms and stand a person on his fists, his resistance to poison gas probably wasn't much stronger than the average person.
Poison gases directly harm the internal organs and respiratory tract, and no matter how tough soone is, these parts aren't much different.
"How are you feeling?"
Su ng answered Suming's question with his actions, vomiting a large amount of blood, his eyes bloodshot.
Suming's head buzzed, as if about to explode. He and Su ng had always worked together seamlessly, almost invincibly. Even if there was a dinosaur in the castle or a gang of ard militants, Suming would not find it troubleso. But who could have expected that the owner of this castle was so unreasonable? Without any warning, they released poison gas!
Poison gas is purely an act of evil, sothing even IS wouldn't dare to do! The Nazis were despised to this day mainly because they used poison gas in concentration camps.
Besides, poison gas is a pervasive substance. Didn't the castle's owner fear collateral damage, affecting other lives within the castle?
Now there was no ti to contemplate these issues. Su ng's coughing was getting worse, vomiting blood in huge amounts. If it weren't for his strong physique, he probably would have been in critical condition...
Suming gathered his spiritual power and sent it outside, trying to notify the crested ibis waiting outside to break through the iron gate behind the drainage pipe, so Su ng could at least retreat and get so fresh air.
Swoosh!
A red shadow descended from the sky, slamming into the drain outlet's tal door, but right after, a loud 'duang' was heard...
The alloy door of the drain outlet was likely half a foot thick, probably even a cannonball wouldn't blast through it! The little crested ibis had hit it hard, its 'beak' bent crooked, stars swirling before its eyes.
Suming also felt like he'd been cursed! The crested ibis was only tens of ters away, separated by an iron gate, so Suming subconsciously used his ability to attach souls. The result was that the crested ibis' sensations were completely replicated and transferred to him. Suming suddenly sat down on the ground, dizzy and disoriented.
The little crested ibis, dizzy, shook its claws in the air and 'crash-landed,' falling toward the bottom of the cliff. It hit a few horizontally growing trees on the way before finally thumping to the ground at the base of the cliff, creating a big hole upon impact.
"Boss, I'll pass out for a bit; you guys go ahead..." the crested ibis thought, then tilted its head and fainted.
Inside the drainage, Su ng was vomiting heavily, a ss of blood at first, followed by food. The scene was both bloody and nauseating.
"Hold your breath!" Suming covered Su ng's mouth with his hand.
There are two modes of poison gas invasion: one is through respiration, and the other, more corrosive type, can directly corrode the skin. For now, it seed that the gas in the pipe was mostly of the forr type, with weak corrosiveness to the skin.
