Having dealt with animals for a long ti, Suming was able to sense so of their miraculous perceptions; two predators at the top of the food chain could sense the danger emanating from each other.
For example, when a lion and a tiger et on a narrow path, they don't recognize 'oh, that's a lion/tiger,' but as predators, they can keenly detect the dangerous aura each other radiates.
Su Lijun was feeling exactly this sensation now. When he saw the large group of burly n who didn't quite look like soldiers or civilians, his eyelids violently contracted as he instinctively slled the scent of danger from them. This was particularly true for a few of the skinny Lure People, whose gazes at others were like looking at a pig waiting to be slaughtered, clearly indicating they had killed before, and not just once.
Where did all these ruthless people suddenly co from?
Rembering all the things Suming had done in the past, Su Lijun almost imdiately concluded: these people were either ex-military or mbers of a professional security company. He used to be ferocious himself, only knowing how to use a gun and daring to kill with one, but that couldn't be compared with trained soldiers.
He was also upset because, although things hadn't been perfect in Sun Town during the days when Suming wasn't around, he had been doing relatively well. Yet, in less than two days since Suming returned, each encounter with him was another setback.
Suming walked out of the house, nodded at Amir, signaling them to go about their business. It was broad daylight, and Su Lijun couldn't possibly stab him on the street with a knife. Having so many people gathered at the door looked bad—it appeared as if he was using his greater numbers to bully Su Lijun.
Amir said sothing softly in Arabic, and the Lure People along with a few zoo security guards dispersed, each going about their business, moving luggage from the off-road vehicles, leaving only the deputy captain of the zoo security, Cheng Dazheng, standing behind Suming.
"Cousin, is there sothing you need?" Suming asked with his hands behind his back.
Mr. Antonio had offered Suming a deal that, in Su Lijun's view, was almost impossible to reject. Thus, Su Lijun ca back this ti full of confidence, only to be heavily hit by the sudden appearance of a group of elite n. With a serious face, he said, "My boss wants to have a chat with you."
"A chat?" Suming repeated.
"Yes, the boss said that anything can be discussed. Since you think I'm not sufficient, he's willing to confront the issue himself and have a thorough talk with you," Su Lijun deliberately emphasized the word 'thorough.'
Your boss isn't a woman, what's there to 'thoroughly' discuss with ?
Suming's mind quickly spun into action. Su Lijun's behind-the-scenes boss taking the initiative to talk could an two possibilities. The first was a trap, luring him onto his turf where he could be confronted by both soft and hard tactics. Although he hadn't understood what Su Lijun and the foreigner had said that evening, the bodyguards they brought couldn't deceive Suming.
The second possibility was that they indeed were sincere and willing to raise the stakes.
Regardless of which possibility, one thing beca clear: they were not willing to give up Sun Town easily.
After so consideration, the first possibility existed but was extrely slim; such tricks were too crude, akin to that of a third-rate thug, not to ntion this was in Huaxia territory where a foreigner wouldn't blatantly take extre asures. If it were truly a trap, seeing his own group of bodyguards would make Su Lijun realize that force was no longer an option, so there was no point in bringing it up again.
So, there was only the second possibility—seeing that Su Lijun couldn't handle him, the boss behind the scenes was getting impatient.
Since the boss behind the scenes was getting involved, the concessions offered were definitely not trivial.
Suming believed his adversaries could figure out that he wasn't short of money.
```
Of course, while not lacking pocket change, substantial funds were still needed. If the other party really threw out several hundred million, Suming would be tempted. But that would only further prove that their purpose for investing in Sun Town was anything but what they had claid.
"Big brother, our boss rarely discusses business with others, and this ti he's truly sincere," Su Lijun said earnestly.
"Fine then, Amir and Tony will accompany on the trip," Suming snapped his fingers at Amir and then said to the vice-captain of the zoo's security team, "Cheng Dazheng, you stay at ho with the rest."
Mrs. Su and Nangong Yan, hearing the commotion, walked out of the house, clueless about what was happening. Suming flashed them a smile and said, "I'm just heading to the county for a bit."
…
Turning back ti a few hours earlier, Su Lijun drove the empty car back to the county, reported to Antonio how Suming had publicly supported Wu in front of the people of Sun Town, and even "taxed" those animals.
"Oh? He was so resolute?" Antonio's brown eyes swiveled like snake's, filled with doubt as he looked at Su Lijun, "Su, could it be that you provoked him on purpose, inciting his anger? As far as I know, the wealthy in Huaxia are very concerned about face, and you, too, are one to care about face. I've warned you not to provoke the other party. I don't want the family's plans to be affected by your own inconsequential dignity."
With that said, the two bodyguards with Antonio showed Su Lijun a sinister smile.
Su Lijun cursed inwardly, 'Which country's rich don't care about face? I've been running errands for you for so many years, and in your eyes, my face is so worthless that it can be discarded at any ti?'
However, he didn't dare to show his discontent and, maintaining a grave expression, shook his head, "Mr. Antonio, I swear that from beginning to end, I was utterly courteous to him, even maintaining absolute restraint after he embarrassed in public."
Antonio frowned, "Then what do you think he really wants, money?"
Having traveled far and wide and mixed with Antonio for many years, Su Lijun was not lacking in capability. After so thought, he said, "Personally, I believe he has seen through our real intentions and does not trust that our investnt in Sun Town is aid at developing tourism. This man already has assets over a hundred million; a small sum of money won't sway him, and offering too much will only make him more suspicious."
"Do you have any good suggestions?" Antonio nodded and his tone softened a bit.
Su Lijun gritted his teeth and said fiercely, "Take him out in secret! Once he's dead, I can deal with the rest of the people in Sun Town one by one."
"No, no, no!" Antonio imdiately rejected the suggestion, laughing coldly, "Su, I don't care what kind of person you are, and it's beyond to control you, but I'm in the business of legality. I cannot rashly eliminate a prominent figure with significant influence. Even without concrete evidence, just arousing suspicion from various quarters would jeopardize our plans."
"Then… kidnap his family! Now's the perfect opportunity, his mother and woman are both in Sun Town!" Su Lijun thought of the woman Suming had brought back, feeling a surge of restlessness course through his veins.
This ti, Antonio hesitated for a few seconds before shaking his head again, "Su, tis and places change, and so should your perspective and scope. Don't always be limited to simple violence. The world never lacks opponents; we should learn to use interests to sway our opponents, to have them make money with us, for us."
"What do you an by that?"
Antonio pondered for a mont, then smiled aningfully, "The great Mr. Don Corleone once said the best way to deal with an enemy is to make him a friend. Since he doesn't believe we're here to build a tourist area, why not tell him about our true intentions."
