Suming's heart skipped a beat as a surge of anger flared within him.
Nangong Yan was hit?
Having braved through great trials, even crossing the battlegrounds of Iraq, a hail of bullets from thousands of terrorists hadn't fazed him. But now, back on his own turf, in Yangchuan City, his girlfriend had been struck?
Could he tolerate that? He might hold back, but the Russian Airborne Troops wouldn't!
He knew all too well the kind of person Nangong Yan was—proud and haughty to the bone. How could she bear such humiliation?
"Brother-in-law, what happened?!" Nangong Huang was shocked. He saw that Suming answered the phone with just a word, and then his hair seed to bristle without any wind, like a hedgehog's spines puffing out—an extre display of fury, just as the ancient saying, "anger shooting straight to the crown," describes.
It was rare for Nangong Huang to see Suming angry. Suming was usually all smiles with everyone, and most people who knew him had seldom seen him lose his temper. The more amiable soone is on a daily basis, the more frightening it is when they do flare up.
Guo Zijian was also stunned, unsure of what had happened, but he could clearly sense that this young boss was on the verge of exploding.
Not minding the two of them, Suming asked on the phone, "Where are you, is Nangong hurt? Did you call the police?"
There was a lot of noise on the other end, and amid the shrill shouting, Shen Ying said, "We're at the Peace Road Anran Restaurant. I haven't called the police yet, I phoned you first... Nangong..."
Before she could finish, a woman's voice on the other end scread, "Who the hell are you calling, you bitch?" followed by a loud smack, as if the phone had been smashed against sothing hard, and then there was a busy tone.
Either the phone was out of battery, or it had been snatched away and thrown, Suming's face darkened, "Mr. Guo, I've got an ergency, I need to step out. Nangong Huang, you stay here."
Without waiting for a reply from the two, he walked out of the room, went downstairs, started up the Wrangler, and drove towards the Peace Road Anran Restaurant in the city.
The zoo was less than fifteen kiloters from Heping Road. After getting in the car, Suming first called the manager of the catering departnt of the Anran Restaurant. Anran Restaurant was one of the partners of Huating Fisheries, and the two sides were acquaintances.
Mr. Wang, who usually dealt with Liang Shi, knew that Suming was the real power behind the scenes. Surprised to receive a call, he was about to exchange pleasantries, but Suming cut to the chase, "Mr. Wang, is there a fight at your restaurant? A tall woman with long hair, she's my girlfriend. Could you ask security to control the situation? I'll be there shortly."
"Yes, yes, exactly. I'll send soone to handle it right away," Mr. Wang agreed without hesitation, then added, "Mr. Su, please hurry. The other party is quite influential, and my little restaurant really can't afford to offend them."
How much of Mr. Wang's words were true was uncertain. Anran Restaurant wasn't a roadside diner; it had so reputation in Yangchuan City and was backed by soone powerful. Ordinary thugs wouldn't dare to cause trouble there. It could be that the opponents indeed had a significant influence, or perhaps Anran Restaurant didn't want to be involved in the matter. After all, their business relationship with the fisheries company was rely a normal comrcial partnership, nothing more.
"I understand. Just keep them safe for , Mr. Wang. I owe you one," Suming said.
After hanging up with Mr. Wang, Suming dialed 110, hesitating for two seconds as his finger hovered over the call button. Finally, he relaxed his finger and called the zoo's security departnt instead.
"Dong, summon Su ng and ten of the toughest security guards you have, in plain clothes, and head to the Anran Restaurant on Heping Road."
Dong imdiately knew sothing had gone wrong on Suming's end when he heard this—it was definitely not about inviting the security departnt to the restaurant for a al.
What does 'able to handle things' an? It's the ability to fight and dare to fight, to face trouble without flinching. Suming had specifically added this phrase, the implication couldn't be clearer.
"Should I bring a stun gun?" Dong asked.
Suming thought for a mont, "No need, just co quickly."
"Alright."
At the zoo, after hanging up the phone, Dong imdiately activated the zoo's internal PA system: "Security teams three and four, gather at the security room entrance imdiately!"
After turning off the PA system, he called the dical station where, sure enough, Su ng was there. He called him over.
Just before stepping out, Dong thought for a mont and pulled open a drawer to take out a cell phone-sized taser, slipping it into his pocket.
In less than two minutes, ten security guards stood in a neat row at the entrance. Teams three and four's guards were personally recruited by Dong, all ex-military, a stark contrast to the thin, stooped security guards of other companies. These guys were full of vigor—ten young n standing in line like a row of little hills.
But they still seed sowhat inferior in front of Su ng, who stood out like a small waterlon in front of a row of apples, noticeably larger than everyone else.
Dong said solemnly, "The boss has a job to do, change into plain clothes, get in the car and follow ."
After the restructuring, the zoo's employees called Suming the director. As the treatnt at the zoo improved, many people privately started to directly call Suming the boss. A boss who treated his employees well and was capable was the heart and soul of the staff anywhere. Following such a legendary boss had almost beco capital for the guards to boast about. Being a security guard isn't a job to brag about, but ntioning they were zoo security guards made everyone look up to them, often earning the comnt, "That's a good job."
Hearing that boss Suming had work to do, the group of vibrant young n instantly beca fired up, howling as they rushed onto the vehicle.
After making two phone calls, Suming, with an attitude of giving it a try, dialed Nangong Yan and her colleague Shen Ying's numbers, but didn't get through—"The number you have dialed is switched off..."
A cold wind blew in through the car window as Suming drove, helping him to calm down from his initial fury.
Ever since the incident involving Ren Chen was completely resolved, he had withdrawn the Wasp Squad from guarding Nangong Yan. Being followed around by a group of Wasps wherever she went would inevitably seem strange to people after a while. Yangchuan City was not a dragon's lair or a war-torn area; under normal circumstances, one might not encounter life-threatening crises in a lifeti.
Looking back, he had been too careless. It was true that the Nangong family had a police background, but she couldn't possibly have "My whole family are police" written on her face. If a conflict arose and she t soone who didn't recognize her, who would know her background?
Logically, at this point, calling the police would be the best choice. The Nangong Family had connections in all aspects of the police force in Yangchuan City, with the highest-ranking mber already a deputy commander of the ard police force. Although they were not high-ranking officials or leaders, they were already a minor power within the police community in Yangchuan City.
Suming thought it over and decided to first go and see what was actually happening.
Soon, the car reached Heping Road. Not far away, a three-to-four-story building with a large entrance facade shone brightly with the words "Anran Grand Hotel." A large crowd was gathered at the entrance, blocking the road, and a line of cars honked continuously.
